Description

Really great place on the lake. Approx. $5 per person per night. It's a bar and property- cheap
Cold beers. Buy beers, share food, support the place and you can negotiate the price maybe. Really great guy David owns the place. Really likes travelers. Possible to arrange a boat trip to the cave on the lake. lake is not great for swimming, but really beautiful. depending on the time of the year rivers nearby better. Monkeys nearby:) water, toilet, energy. possible to use the septic input to empty your tank but need to talk with owner.
There is a supermarket close by.
Use whatsapp +507-66252861 message a day before is best as sometimes he is away for full days.

Update Feb/2018: Saw a monkey tied to a tree here. Stay only if you don't mind people keeping wildlife as pets.

Perfect place to stay on the way to or back from the Darien Gap (Yaviza) Contacted David via What’s App and he responded within 30min. Very large gently sloping property near the lake. Room for everything from motos with tents to the largest of the big rigs. Might need a board or 2 to get level depending on where you park. It’s next to the road but quiet at night. David has a big malinois/shepard cross ?? named Rex. He was well behaved and cautious around our dog (big Boxer) and we had no problems. Lots of jungle sounds 😁 there was no captive monkey while we were there. Bathroom was clean and the Paloma is being rebuilt. Covid just about killed this place as it has many others so come on by and stay a night or 2.

I texted David ahead of time to see if he was still open & had space. We camped for 1 night for $5 usd. It’s a wide open grassy area. Lots of room for big rigs & for trailers to turn around. 1 flush toilet & small sink. Water hose on site. Electric if you need it. It’s on a gravel road & some traffic at night driving across the dam. Didn’t sleep well. Rex his dog was cool but wouldn’t leave us alone while cooking or eating. Didn’t see a monkey at this location(see previous posts). David said Panama is still recovering from Covid shutdown so he hasn’t had as many people coming to camp.

I was there on Thursday at 16:00 hours nobody there. Everything was closed so I left to next to the lake.

Nice place closed from the lake.
David is nice person available and with a very good knowledge of the region.

Report Check-In

Stayed a couple of nights here. David is a very friendly guy as is his dog and the spider monkey. The monkey likes to investigate everything and everyone.
Clean toilet. Fresh water and cheap beer.
The morning we were leaving discovered we had a flat tyre on our 7.5 tonne truck. I am more than capable of changing the tyre but David got stuck in. I felt I was his assistant rather than the other way around.
unfortunately the weather was against us so we were unable to visit the caves on the lake. David provides the tour.
No WiFi but if you have a Movistar simcard there is a transmitter above the campground. Claro doesn't work out here.

First thing we saw here was a poor little monkey tied to a tree. I'm not giving any money to a person who does that. We left immediately.

Nice peaceful place, friendly guy who made us feel very welcome. We walked down to the lake and saw several beautiful otters. $5 for the night is a good price.

There are so as in the description. Good place to rest. Dave is very nice person.

Awesome spot to camp. David the owner let us set up our tents underneath the palapa. Hammocks to relax in. Tables to eat on. He also brought out his propane stove for us to use. There was some locals at the bar drinking till about 9 playing music but it didn’t bother us. We had a few beers with them. Highly recommend.
