Description

Free beach - beautiful place if you like remote places. Very special beach landscape with river coming in and peninsula - especially wonderful at low tide. We camped there. Saw many Ara's, many birds and a 3 m long snake on the beach

Parked here right before the road cave-in. Quiet, safe feeling, few bugs. Claro signal is weak but there. The beach is a bit weird with very soft slippery warm sand, you sink pretty far in. But a great spot to/from Osa!

This place is still open. The road is washed out at the end but you can park for free and walk to the beach. We just stayed for lunch but spending the night here shouldn’t be a problem. Not suitable for big rigs

Beautiful spot. Small parking lot used by everyone visiting Playa Tortuga. Consider beach guest to park right next to you.
We had a group of locals coming at 9pm,(hightide) to fish close to the parking and light a campfire. They left after 2 hours and left the fire burning.... Kinda weird....

Generally we felt safe, visitors were all friendly, Trash-Cans are closeby, swimming in the shallow waters is possible (we didn't go deeper than waist-deep).

Smallish area to park among the trees, but amazing and rather surreal landscape. Trash bins and recycling bins available. Lots of downed trees from the river, and ever changing landscape with the tide coming in and leaving again. Fun to play in the water for our 4 year old, with building rock and log bridges across pools and streams. Sand flies were really bad so spray up and enjoy the views.
