Not sure if it's state or federal land, butthere are multiple sites. On the Badlands MVUM map it shows as dispersed camping, road open to all vehicles. Awesome view of the Badlands from every site. Sites are spaced every 300-800m apart. Very roomy. Was here over the 4th of July weekend and everything from tents to RV's. Online, people say that after it rains RV's are unable/have a difficult time making it in due to road conditions. Highly recommend over the official Badlands campsites.

All roads leading here seem to be gated off now with “private property” signs. The area on the other side of 240 is great and open, though!

Great pull off spot, woke up next to some bison. No cars passed on dirt road. had cell service.

Google maps says take a right but that’s not correct. Take a left and you can see all the campers from the main road. Amazing spot.

Report Check-In

there are several spots already marked. this one is not on the wall edge but in the middle of the prairie.

Report Check-In

Amazing place to stay. Great views, quiet neighbors, can even do a little hiking if you want. Good for any size vehicle. Some fire rings. Very popular but lots of room. 2 bars LTE T-Mobile

Report Check-In

Free overnight camping just outside Badlands National Park entrance gate. several vans, cars, motor homes, and trailers are parked here. not sure how long you can stay, but a local Wall bartender said this is a valid free boondocking site.

beautiful views! Big horn sheep walked right through our site.

Report Check-In

About 2 dozen boondockers. Dead quiet. Easy access. 80 degrees. Beautiful sunset.

Report Check-In

This is the turn off point. You’ll see all the RVs East of here.

Report Check-In

Beautiful views of the Badlands. Great Verizon coverage. Not great AT&T. Plenty of room for any sized rigs, but the entrance road can be rutted badly, and may be impassable by larger rigs if there has been a lot of rain. Fun to watch wildlife, especially Bighorn Sheep, who will come right through the campsites. If you are a motor home with a toad, consider dropping the toad in Wall, SD, and driving in separately.

Report Check-In

Yes. antennas mark the spot! but amazing views!!! Be very careful with the roads within 12 hours a storm! 3+ cars needed to be towed because the roads were too wet! 4x4 you wee fine, all wheels were stuck and so was a car! Do not park too close to cliff, trailer blew off in 70 mph wind gusts.

Amazing spot, beautiful view over the Badlands and the prairies. The road to get there is a bit rough but definitely worth it! You can park where you want (careful though, it is a cliff) and even though we were not the only one it felt like it because there is so many space!

Report Check-In

Amazing views, lots of neighbors even on a weekday. Saw a big horn close up at least three times in one day. Best camping spot I’ve been to in a long time. The rain is no joke, rained for twenty minutes and we got stuck on the way out almost an hour later. Any size rig can fit here, but even when dry the road in has deep rivets. But the road isn’t unmanageable by any means.

Wonderful place. Wind howls "Mary" like expected.

This was an awsome little spot to boondock. I didnt see any spots that were designated for camping so I just parked close to the cliffs edge and enjoyd the views. Mountain goats hung out close to the van for a while and the coyotes sounded amazing. Highly recommend if your in the area. It is a dirt road so keep that in mind after a rain.

Do not miss this FREE camp . Best i have visited in my travels . Saw cyoties and they were howling all night . Must do

Good spot just before the entrance of the park. Amazing view. Windy. Bunch of space along the cliff. We got there at night after a light rainy day. First part of the path was ok, but it was pretty slippy when we got closer to the hill. We were scared to get stuck with our 2 wheels 170 sprinter, so we stopped at the middle of the path. Wet clay ground is more slippy that mud :) we could get out easily the next day but I do not recommend when
for large campers when rainy weather. View is worth it. Couple of antennas. 2 other campers when we were there.

Spectacular view. Super quiet. Lots of other trailer/tent/RVs (even the big ones 30ft+). You can park directly at the edge of the cliff and enjoy a perfect sunrise in the morning. Watch for the free roaming mountain goats that tends to block the road. Road is really bumpy and uneven. Also, it was terribly windy and we had a hard time sleeping because of that. Might get really muddy after a good rain storm. It is located just before the Badlands national park gate, which was perfect for us.

Report Check-In

Gorgeous view of Badlands canyon, you are literally right on the edge, which you must park 30 feet from. Very windy, likely usually. Too cold the next morning for us to comfortably cook so we packed up the tent and left early. Still recommend highly since it is so unique.

Report Check-In

stunning views to badlands, the place has a lot of possibility to park, probably I count around 30 camper today. at the night is windy but definitely quiet.
in the morning found plenty of sheep close to our camper. this place was recommended in the visitor center. this place has a gate, if it is closed, so open it but make sure you close it again. (it's for wildlife)

Report Check-In

beautiful dispersed sites. I was in my 29' motorhome and had no issues.

Report Check-In

Gorgeous view into the badlands. Windy enough to make campstove cooking annoying, but not too bad. No bugs. It did seem busy for a weekday and expect it would be packed on the weekends. I’d definitely camp here again.

Report Check-In

Beautiful but need to add that it's a antennas sites. Full of them all around, not sure it's healthy staying near.
