In Santa Maria de Coco at the door of Albergue Juvenil. This is the town to walk to Sótano del Barro. You need a guide to do this trek. Parking free, guide is M$250.
From road 69 drive about 27 kms of dirt road, not for big rigs.
The sótano is amazing, the second biggest in the world. 2 hours walk starting at 4 am to see green guacamayas fly out at sunrise.
Internet by code, 6 pesos for 1 hour/3 for 15 pesos.

We parked here for free (bit challenging to level).
The woman managing the "albergue" and access to the Sotano said it was fine to park by the soccer field.
We mentioned that we had a lot of hiking experience and a map of the route downloaded (all trails), and would love to try the hike on our own. We were charged 100$ per person for access, no guide (we speak Spanish, and do not know if she had a good day or this would work for someone else in the future though). And also could use the restroom/shower of the Albergue.
The hike was beautiful! just consider that the drive to get here is quite challenging.
attached list of general prices anyway
Rudimentary, but practical, was able to park my Vanagon behind the gates and not worry about it during the hike. I was asked 100 pesos to park my van and stay there, 300 pesos for the guide and 50 entry fees (new prices attached in photo. I lowered it down to 400. Guide picked me up at 4am, we arrived at the location at 5.30am and waited for Sunrise for an hour in the dark, freezing. Guide didn't know much about anything, but I was happy to inject $$ in this local community. Hopefully it helps them preserve this beautiful place.
