No signs banning camping. There were a few campers here parked in the loop. Not a good place for ground tents. I'd say stay in Roof top tents or camper vans. Don't park on grass. The interstate is busy all night so be prepared for some noise. Good for one night.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
fairly nice rest area. The camping loop in back gets you a little away from the road noise. there was only one other Van in the loop and they were gone when I woke up at 6:00 in the morning.
Report Check-InVery nice. A little traffic noise, but not unbearable. Pretty easy to find a flat spot on the pavement.
Report Check-InGood place for a overnight rest. We are self contained, so did not use restrooms. Parked towards the back in circular area. Quiet for the most part. Kansas rest areas look well maintained for the most part and a good option for much needed stops to rest.
Report Check-InAwesome free camping loop at the rest area! You are allowed to stay for one night. It’s a nice grassy loop with picnic tables and grills. You just park alongside the one-way loop road. We set up with camp chairs and enjoyed a sunny afternoon there. We were even able to play fetch with the dogs. Just beware of the prickly things in the grass. Another bonus: free dumpsite along the camping loop, and free coffee inside the well-maintained visitor information center.
Report Check-InEasy stop while heading east. Stopped around 10pm to get some sleep overnight. Didn't seem too loud or busy compared to other rest areas and the bathrooms were very clean.
Report Check-InTypical rest area. Beautiful views. Nasty little biting black flies.
Report Check-InNice place to stay when traveling across Kansas! Road noise isn’t too bad. I was going west so first I stopped at the westbound location. I think the same rules apply to both however I came to the eastbound one just cause that’s what I saw on here. The ladies that work the counter inside the stop were nice ol’ ladies. Restrooms are what you’d expect at a rest stop.
Report Check-InQuiet location with nice tables to eat at, trash cans available, and non potable water fountains. The visitor center has nice bathrooms as well. The stop is elevated which came in handy as there was a flash flood the night I slept here. I’d recommend it for sure, my only gripe being that you can only stay parked here for ONE NIGHT
Report Check-InGreat 1 night stay. Inside they have free coffee when the welcome center is open! Drive around to the camping loop so you don’t have to be where all the noise is. The welcome center guy was amazing, helpful and friendly! Also told us rent camping is welcome!
Report Check-InArrived at 9PM and had the place to ourselves. Not much road noise, but the wind was howling.
Report Check-InWell lit, was quite , trucks weren’t running all night, not much traffic, bathrooms were so so, felt safe.
Report Check-InThankful to have found this place traveling east on I70. Attendants were welcoming to our questions and offered free coffee. Indicated that we were free to top our rtt for 24hrs. Circle in back provides some distance from highway and offers some tree cover.
Report Check-InWinter overnight spot was fine. Big rigs and a few overnight vehicles. Didn’t use restrooms as not going inside during pandemic.
Report Check-InBasic rest area. Sign inside visitor center says “overnight parking or camping for 1 night only”. There is a loop for cars/vans to park farther away from highway, reduces the noise. This loop is just before the exit back to the highway - stay right instead of getting on the interstate. In the dark it is hard to see so maybe walk it first. We could fill up earlier bottles in the stop at the drinking fountains.
