Description

Great campsite next to dorms. Mostly used by people that hike up and down the Congo Nile trail.

They make great food at night for 5000 rf that is served around the fire. The next morning you can either have breakfast with the rest or buy some bread from the bakery.

Camping is 15 000 rf per tent for two people.

Ask in the village for the way since the road is not clearly visible on the map.

Regarding previous comments. Construction work is finished! We had no issues at all. We had western toilets and a nice bucket shower (warmed with special wood for a nice smell)

Amazing camping and guesthouse. We stayed here on our Congo Nile trail. Ernest was super welcoming. And picked us up from the bottom of the big climb for 30k.

We booked two rooms for 45.000 per room per night with breakfast. No complains.

Got a very warm welcome from Patrick as soon as we arrived but unfortunately they were doing a lot of work at the campsite area. Lot of workers hanging 3 meters away from us, lot lot LOT of staring (like everywhere in Rwanda) and lot of noise until 6pm. Next day workers started talking and working at 6.30 am...
Only one pit toilet. No water on the western toilet. Camping area is very inclined, even with our big levelers we were not even close to be leveled. Definetly not big rig friendly (you can probably access the gate but not the camp area).
Cheap option but really not relaxful at that time. Definetly would have been so much nicer without the work (and the workers). Nice view. Asked 15k per car, paid 10k cause of the noise and the staring.

The place is under works due to some big rain last season. The place where The campsite is it's where they are doing the bricks... Workers start at 7 in the morning until 6... So really not a place to stay more than one night. Backup spot to stay right now.
We arrived late and did not wanted to go further so we agreed on 10 000 for 2 in our roof tent.
No running water. The shower (cold) was in the room of some workers...

Its definitely not big rig friendly. The track to go done the campsite is very narrow with tress.

The view it's beautiful.

Maybe it's going to be better in the futur...

An incredibly friendly reception and before we had even parked, we had 2 comfy chairs and a table out looking over the most exceptional view over Lake Kivu from high up on a mountaintop. Ernest and his team couldn’t do enough to welcome us. Dinner was with his family and was fantastic and the conversation stimulating and interesting. These people are true ambassadors for Rwandan tourism and upliftment and all in all a fantastic experience. Prices have changed and for the camping it was 10 000 rf and 5000 each for dinner. Breakfast is also an option.
