Wild Camping on the parking zone, could use the showers at the beach for 500 Pesos (nearby Walmart/Lider provides free toilets). The beach is vivid, cafe close by, guarded beach. The other spot more to the north is abandoned,

Not a good place. It's not safe. Lots of homeless people that are drunk.
Un spot pas sécurisé. Il y a beaucoup de SDF qui boivent.
Report Check-InFine for a night or two. I went early on a Saturday morning and had plenty of places to choose from. No one bothered me. The homeless guys keep themselves to themselves when they aren't keeping the place tidy or cleaning car windows. No showers at this time of year. Maybe just high season. Líder is like a building site just now and they're is no paper in the toilets so take your own.
I took the homeless guys some coffee in the morning. The south African guy had an interesting bit sad story to tell but worth having a sit to chat if you feel like it.
slept one night at the parking spot on the beach. it's in front of a police station, we felt safe. We had a quiet night but at 6:30 started up the noise of cars and a car-wash service. We didn't find showers. Bathrooms in the mall are still open till 22:30.. better no second beer ;)
Report Check-InNice-ish place, the self appointed parking manager was pretty drunk when we arrived, but seemed harmless enough. The showers are 1000 ch. now though.
But other then that pretty peaceful.
Arrived here on a Wednesday afternoon. Parked in a horizontal spot and walked around for an hour before deciding to stay the night. Tipped the attendant a little. A little noisy till about 10:30 then pretty quiet. It is a well lit lot. Best to leave by 8 if you are oversized as people begin arriving and will block you in.
Report Check-InGood city spot. Its more quieter at the side where there is restaurant check-in spot. Not that many cars on weekdays. Good spot for swimming as well. Nights are quiet. The restaurant is closed. There is wifi signal but no internet connected to the routers. Local market and cheviche stands just 2 minutes walk from here
Report Check-InPerfect City-parking- free of charge. WiFi so and so. Nice and quiet. Near Center.
Report Check-InVery nice and safe location. We left the car while shopping and also while we went to watch a movie at night (cheap wedneadays!) and nothing happened. Of course we may have been lucky and we always take all valuables with us anyways. But we did see lots of police patrols so felt safe. :) showers weren't open when we stayed, toilets at líder stay open until late. The wifi from the hotel reaches very far, [Password removed by moderator.]
Report Check-InThere is a police station next to the small roundabout at the end of the first part of the beach, so it's safe to stay there and leave the van while shopping (Líder has really tasty entire roasted chicken for a good price:)
Cleaning guy was really nice and all homeless folks also seemed friendly, one even offered us fresh fish.
Quiet at night. Unfortunately, bathrooms close early.
There is free ChileGob Internet in the square about 15 minutes walking, as wifi in the shopping mall doesn't always work.
Nice spot. Gave a homeless lady half a roasted chicken and Half a bottle of red wine, friends for life))
Report Check-InVery convenient and very vivid, nice change to all the lonesome boondocking for once. Quiet for a friday. We spent a good night and walked south to the fish market the next morning. Recommendable!
Report Check-InGreat place to wake up. Showers were closed so we walked north to the market where there were showers next door for 1000 pesos/pp. The seafood in the market was amazing. Friendly people around, homeless people were nice. All around very decent spot.
Report Check-InCamped here for 3 nights, outside of the weekend. Good and quiet place. In the morning there is some action and every parking place is contested (people come to the municipiality to get their things done), so be aware of it when parking for the night. We found homless guys round the parking to be harmless. For free wifi go to Antofagasta Mall (next to the port).
Report Check-InOK place to spend the night and supply up at the nearby stores and supermercados. Noise died down after 11pm or so. Lots of homeless folks around the area, but we felt safe. Free bathrooms at the Lider store next door.
Report Check-InWild Camping on the parking zone, could use the showers at the beach for 500 Pesos. The beach is vivid, cafe close by, guarded beach. The other spot more to the north is abandoned, not recommendable anymore.
