Description

Beautiful grassy camp sites under big trees, with braai and clean ablutions on the Kafue river banks. Shower gets 10/10 for hotness and wetness, but only 4/10 for duration... Place is mainly used by South Africans for fishing, and we were the only campers. Bar is loud in the evening, but farg enough away from the camp sites that it's not a real problem. Friendly staff who were surprised that we didn't have a fishing rod and offered to rent us one. K100 pppn. Good value. Excellent full English breakfast at K75.

A green patch down by the river, we stayed here for a night before heading up the river for a few nights. The pitch is very nice but the ablutions are very tired and need a refresh. But the bar is excellent and the manager and staff are very friendly.
They also offer secure parking per night if heading up the river like us.

Nice and peaceful campsite next to the river. Ablutions would need a bit of maintenance, but on the plus side you get access to the bar and pool of the lodge with gorgeous views over the river.

Very Nice camping under big trees right next to Kafue river. Boat trips available to Zambezi river.

lovely grassy, shady campsite, which was welcome in the Nov heat. pool was really clean with nice bar and decking overlooking the river. food was decent as well.

Lovely grassy camps with power and there are a few taps around (not sure if drinkable). Lots of shade. Mostly a fishing retreat but they have a nice bar and restaurant too. A bit noisy at night over the weekend due to a local bar near them. Can rent rods and do fishing tours there at about K1000K for an afternoon. If looking to stay near the lower Zambezi park, suggest going closer to Mvuu.

Just to add, we paid 130 kwacha pp for one night, 20 kwacha for a bundle of firewood and 5 kwacha for worms to use as bait.

Beautiful setting on the Kafue river - you can park your car with RTT right on the riverfront, or set up a ground tent a few metres behind on the grass. Bathroom facilities are about a 6/10 - but on the plus side the shower is hot and decent pressure and the toilets are flush and there is toilet paper. We couldn’t see nor did we use the dishwashing facility (we just filled up our bucket with water from a nearby tap). Ablutions block is a bit far from the riverfront though if that’s where you set up camp. There is loud music in the evening from a bar across the river which was a bit annoying for us.

Its 130kwa per person to camp and internet 50 for 200mb and 2 devices. very nice staff and owners. food is great and the deck to watch the sunset amazing! no kitchen just dishwashing facility and braii place.

I came back to drop someone off and decided to stay, despite not liking the place last year but now in the campsite with my campervan and it is nice actually, except for the music in the distance from a local bar and the early roosters but the place is otherwise quiet as the only camper and shady with stands along the river under trees or on the green lawns. Fantastic Bream fillets for kw100 on the menu!

Have to disagree with the last review. Having read this we were worried, however, it was much better than anticipated. They have two ablution blocks on the campsite both were very clean and with plenty of hot water. The campsite is large and shady with a great view of the river. There are numerous power points and lights. It’s a short walk to reception and the bar, but just means the campsite is nice and quite, not that the bar was loud. A great pool too! Everyone was very friendly and helpful. They even let us use there guys in the work I shop for a 15 minute job for free. We also did a canoe safari for two days/two nights from here. We joined a small drifters groups and paid the 6 person rate of $202 dollars pp everything included, tents, food, water guide etc. It was one of the best things we have done in Africa! Also the best price we were given. Camping is 130zk pppn. Is highly recommend this place. From the main road there is a new shop rite and it’s well stocked and from there it’s about another 20 minutes to the camp.

Not a place for me as an independent traveler. Pretty run down and unmaintained for the price but the fishing is what people come for I guess, Kw700 for half day for the boat and kw18 per liter of petrol used, life bait for Kw5 each. They overcharged the petrol and generally left an feeling of only being after making a buck then caring about guests or quality of their facilities. Our Boat guide was knowledgeable enough but not friendly at all and was unprepared. Food was good in the restaurant at least but surely not a place I would recommend. Mostly South Africans living in Zambia who come to fish and get drunk, not my crowd. Maybe the campsite is nice...

As already described, nice grassy large campsites at the river! The toilets and showers were shockingly dirty and clearly haven’t been cleaned in a long while. Even though we were told, there was no hot water. Might be because it’s off season, but we thought it’s not fair then for the price.
Food in the restaurant was pretty good though and the bar, pool area overlooking the river is nice! Friendly staff. Internet was terribly slow, yet they asked for ZMW 50.
Camping ZMW 100 pppn.
