Latest Check-Ins

I arrive during the late afternoon and saw no camping sites but the asphalted parking, big enough to several cars, worked to save the night, bit nosy but no one bothered me 👍🏼 cool to watch stars

Report Check-In

Definitely closed now. Boulders blocking every entrance with no trespassing signs.

Report Check-In

the place is open! we stayed here last night, the spot is nice. only downside are the trains passing by. Police came in the evening to check, but said nothing, so we assume it's ok to stay overnight. 3 others stayed with us.
It's not the paved parkinglot! the entrance to these spots is 200 meters further west!

Report Check-In

This place is permanently closed.

Report Check-In

Grand parking proche de l’autoroute. Le bruit n’était pas si pire. Nous avons pu monter une bache car il pleuvait. Les espaces des photos ne sont plus accessibles mais quand même un spot intéressant et proche de canmore.

Report Check-In

the spot is allmost closed...

Report Check-In

Great spot, as stated they have blocked off any of the "pull in" type camping spots but there is a large amount of space on an asphalt lot and a small turnaround loop behind it. Lots of space, you could definitely get a big rig in here but you might be in a pinch to turn around if there are other vans already here. Due to lack of similar spots in the area, I would imagine this is a very busy spot in the high season. We are here in Nov and there was one other van and 2 cars.

Train track and highway are both nearby so there was some noise in the night but really not much at all. Tree cover offers a bit of privacy and sound deadening.

There are a few fire pits still around.

I believe the lot is used to access a gas pipeline.

Overall fantastic spot and very happy we found it. Great hopping off point as you head into or out of Banff.

Report Check-In

Only thing left is a parking lot between the road & train tracks. No more fire pits :)

Report Check-In

Here once again! The backside is still open up for people to camp and rest blocked off, like a couple weeks ago.

Report Check-In

I think they are closing this place. I was here last week, when visiting Canmore, and all was fine with tents and vans, but now there are concrete blocks covering all the camp pull offs but one. My guess is the one is open because there is a camper there and some cars atm.

Report Check-In

Free camping quite a bit of spots some with fire rings beautiful view safe travels

Report Check-In

This place is amazing!! I would camp here everyday if I could train nearby

Report Check-In

Grand terrain avec plusieurs spots aménagés. Assez tranquille même si la route est proche et que le train passe à proximité. À 20 minutes du centre-ville de Canmore.

Report Check-In

Beautiful sites between the mountains, very popular.

Report Check-In

Fine place, little bit noisie but everything ok

Report Check-In

super busy even mid week.. young people with bon fires blasting loud bass music til 4am....I guess if you want to mingle, it would be ok.. but we wouldn't stay again.

Report Check-In

Good place, lots of people on the weekend, close to train tracks. But close to Canmore. No Hassel spot for camping

Report Check-In

One of our favourite spots to stay. Beautiful view, close to Canmore and Banff. Was accessible in March

Report Check-In

We slept here a couple of nights in early october and one night yesterday and we love this place. It is NOT quiet at all because of the train and the strong wind, but we can do campfire as we want and we're far from city centers. It's a very busy spot so we met a lot of great people here (See attached photo).

Report Check-In

Très bel emplacement pour petits campeurs. Pas très nivelé mais certains sites sont corrects. La route et le train sont assez près

Report Check-In

Good spot overall w fire pits. Busy spot. Car and train noise but some great views looking past the train tracks. We stayed two nights in our van conversion (2 different camping spots as we did a day trip to Upper Kananaskis Lake).

Report Check-In

AMAZING LOCATION. We showed up here expecting to stay one night and we ended up staying for the whole week because of how much we loved it. The mountain range is amazing, same with the campfire spots, as long as your okay with a bit of train noise! Didn’t bother us :)

Report Check-In

Great spot for camping. We spent 4 nights. A bit noisy from the train and highway, but you have the same background noise in Banff campgrounds.

Report Check-In

One of the few spots left to park and camp worry-free in the area. Plenty of spots, pretty popular, does the trick.

Report Check-In

Still open, free, legal and clean (except some toilet paper here and there in the woods...) we have 24’ bumper to bumper and could fit in pretty much all spots (approx 15-20 other cars/vans/camper tonight) plus the parking lot. Noisy hourly trains but ok overall!

Report Check-In

Very good spot. Surprisingly clean for wild camping. The area is a lot smaller due to the private land owner putting the boulders on his land border. Still great spot.

Report Check-In

Awesome place to camp! Just wanted to note, though, that it looks as though half of the land mentioned previously (that there are about 18 campsites) appears to have been bought by a private company. Roads that previously led to more spots have been blocked off by big rocks. Still an incredible space, but not as much to go around as there used to be!

Report Check-In

Nice hidden spots between bushes and trees, mountain views and colourful wildflowers, but other than that nothing special. Totally fine fot a night outside the National Parks. No toilets but a cheap gas station with bathroom about and some trail heads with pit toilet 5mins drive away.

Report Check-In

Yes, a nice place. Popular. We stayed 4 nights, with a revolving cast of campers - always with neighbours but the sites, all with fire rings, are nicely spaced. The parking lot - busy during the day - is a trailhead for hikers / rock climbers. The trains are loud and frequent, as are the trucks turning into the landfill across the highway - not a problem. The trains give the place a Hobo Village vibe?

Report Check-In

very very pretty, a bit loud - trains and highways dont bother me but there is a sound that comes from the factory down the road that is constant

Report Check-In

Great little spot, little noisy but no problems. Great

Report Check-In

Wow what a fantastic spot! Wish I knew about this the other previous times I’ve had to camp in Canmore. Saves me the 7am kick out of the Save On lot. Stayed a few nights unintentionally as I just couldn’t bare to leave the place! As did a few others by the looks. Plenty of secluded places with lovely views. Best to get in early as even mid week every spot was taken by evening.. especially if your a bigger rig as there’s minimal spots for you. I was lucky enough to score the same spot each night. Didn’t find traffic or train noise a bother at all. Wish we had more places like this around!

Report Check-In

bel endroit assez tranquille .Bonne place

Report Check-In

What a beautiful spot!!
We have a tiny home school bus and it was a little nerve wracking getting in but we managed.
There ended up being plenty of room for us but it’s a close call so for some it might not be big rig friendly.
There are tons of little paths and camp spots with fire pits.
The train went by twice within the first hour we got here but it’s worth the noise.

Report Check-In

Great place with a lot of spots to park vehicles and pitch tents, trees, fire pits. There was no mosquitoes when we were here may be because it was rainy... We heard the trains very loud in the morning because we were in tent but during the night they weren’t frequent. Free, no amenities. Recommended !!!

Report Check-In

Just as described! Many individual campsites with mountain view’s. Yes there is road/train noise but that doesn’t bother me. What DOES bother me is finding a HUGE pile of human feces along with wads of soiled TP right next to a fire ring, making the site unusable.

(To whoever did it: that is nasty! Have some respect for your fellow travelers and clean up after yourself!)

Report Check-In

Great spot next to the Highway. There is a solid area for RV's and also a little dirty road with some spots for smaller vehicles. Not to much noise from the highway. Rarely a train is passing by.

Report Check-In

Amazing place.Beautiful spot by the mountains near Canmore. Lots of spots available with fire rings. Good for cars/vans/camper truck/tents.There is one spot that is good for an RV, otherwise it’s too small.

Report Check-In

Great spot with fire pit and a nice view !!

Report Check-In

This was perfect for 1 night. The trains were very loud but not super frequent most of the night until the early morning.

Report Check-In

Stayed here one night with motorhome. Good spot, train noise isn’t too bad. The nicest spots are accessible by tent/4WD/high clearance only.

Report Check-In

Several pitches with a view of the mountains between the railway and the road. Perfect for an overnight stay before driving to Banff.

Report Check-In

There quite a few trains as everyone else said, but the didn’t bother us. They weren’t using their horns much so it wasn’t bad. The views made up for the train, this is one of our favorite sites so far on our 5,500 mile road trip to Alaska.

Report Check-In

Great spots. This is not for RVs or anything with trailers....so no big rigs.

I guess very busy last night as someone parked right next to us late even though each spot is for individual. I guess we left to much room to have our ‘space’.

Yes, there are trains. Last one we heard was 10pm and the first was at 6am. Wife slept through one in morning and she’s a light sleeper.

Report Check-In

Spent two consecutive nights! It’s a great place to stay close to the park. Camping inside is very expensive.

Report Check-In

This place is great! Thanks for sharing!
The train passes by every once in a while, but is not that bad.

Report Check-In

This place is great. Gorgeous views of mountains and trees. A few places for tents or small camper vans. Close to highway and railroad but didn't hear much of it during our stay. This is a pack in/pack out place so please respect nature and your fellow campers by taking your trash with you.

Report Check-In

Would be a nice spot, except for the constant train traffic and transfer station. We pulled in for the night, got leveled out and situated. We were there about 30 minutes and had 5 or more trains roaring by. We packed up and left, you can stay at the casino down the road for free, not as pretty, but much quieter.

Report Check-In

This is public land so it is absolutely legal to camp here.

Report Check-In

Beautiful place, nice stop on the way to Banff, there are quite a lot of trains passing, but it didn’t bother us.

Report Check-In

Confirmed. There are several places to camp with stone fire rings. Parking area for cars or RVs. No toilets or litter bins.

Report Check-In

Several spots to camp off Hwy 1A. Right next to (100m from) railway tracks, but little train traffic. Some highway noise. Pretty nice spots, really. Easy access from Hwy 1A across from the dump entrance. Fire rings, grass and bushes all around. Free and legal to camp. Tents and big rigs no problem.
