We really enjoyed this site. As others have mentioned, it is not a super nice campground, but basic, clean and good location. After West Africa, pure luxury! Best part is the waterhole. After dark we saw lots of Rhinos every single night we were there (3 nights). It’s obviously just luck of the draw, but we decided to splurge for a night drive one night $750pp and it was terrible. Literally didn’t see a single thing in 3 hours of driving around. Much better option to stay at the free waterhole!

We liked this campsite better than Okaukuejo because it is smaller but still has everything you need. The sites are quite big and with a lot of big trees for shade.
We could choose the site.
Ablutions were basic but clean.
The waterhole is beautiful, even though we were not lucky because there was some rain in the afternoon.
Free WiFi around the restaurant and pool.

Very good campsite in an amazing NP! I totally disagree with the critical reviews and I have the feeling that these people either were very unlucky with a very bad moment, or a luxury travelers who are used to 5 star lodges. We have been overlanding for 4.5 months and based on the reviews I was expecting very poor ablusions and facilities. But the ablusions are very clean, shower even the most powerful I had over the last 4.5 months, each campspot has a nice private area with electricity, tap water and table + chairs, waterhole is very beautiful scenery. And yes, there were indeed +/-20 people and some of them drinking a sundowner (including me) but no one spoke and if they spoke it was whispering about one of the animals we saw. Very good quiet vibe! We saw 2 hyenas, black rhinos + baby black rhino, zebras and baby zebras in like 20 minutes we sat at the waterhole.

Campsite is nice and green but why people are allowed to drive directly to the waterhole is insane..People coming with icebuckets and cheers full of alcohol....Waterhole is wasted.....Skip and go to other camps...

Nice waterhole, saw lots of elephants and 2 rhinos, antelopes. No predators (checked around 10-11pm and 7am next day). ablutions ok. its quite expensive for what it is but you have access to a nice waterhole and you are inside the park.

Great location inside Etosha because is very central. 450pppn. There is a waterhole that is a short walk away to watch animals (we saw elephants drinking water and 4 rhinos), open all night. Individual electricity and kitchen station with braai, but shared ablution and dish washing station. Not very clean, and small for so many people. Campsites are just close to each other, no bush division. It is a choice because you are inside Etosha, but the campsite itself is average and expensive.

Update to price: now 450pp for camping

We plan on the fly and travel with the wind and we were worried nowhere in Etosha would have space for a last minute arrival but when we arrived there were plenty of campsites available. A good location if you don't usually book a year in advance!

After hearing that this camp is terrible I must say we found it absolutely perfect. Sure there are sandy campsites but that’s the least of our problems. Staff are extremely friendly, shop stocked with most items one would require. The road from Nomotoni not that bad.

Huge open sandy space with plenty of ablution blocks. Bar restaurant shop (tourist stuff and some food and camp supplies) pool was a bit mossy….
Ablutions were clean but without loo roll, soap and many blocked drains. No hanging hooks etc to keep towels dry whilst showering.
Full as august.
Surprisingly quiet overnight.

Very large campsite, lots of people. Place to park bigger Overland trucks on campsite. We choose a campsite at the edge of the camping area - was ok although rather expensive for what it offers. Nice waterhole with lots of game coming by to drink. Road to Halali from east are the worst we drove in Namibia. We would not recommend visiting Ethosha due to very bad roads and lots of cars. Rather stay at Okaukujeo at book a fullday guided Safari to the park.

380pp but that seems to be the standard price for all campsites in Etosha. Very good MTC 4g internet and there seems to be free wifi at the restaurant/reception but it did not work during my time. Buffet Breakfast at the restaurant is $180pp and Buffet Dinner $300pp. There are hot showers and the bathrooms were clean. The best part was the waterhole to which you can walk. We saw 7 rhinos just after sunset and an elephant.

so people saying this place is run down definitely never travelled through west and Central Africa. For travellers who drove from Morocco to Namibia and who are used to west african standards, this is a luxury camping!!! hot shower, very clean toilets, very clean campsite, waterhole with 13 rhinos after sunset!! what do you want more?! we totall loved it!

We could get there mid may without a reservation.
It was not crazy crowded but we for sure were not alone.
The sanitary was clean.
Still 380 pp.
You have to pay crazy prices for the wifi.

380pppn now. Totally over prized. And as always when its goverment, no one feels responsible for maintanance. I don't start with a list of what is broken or wrong here, there would simply not be enough of characters available in this field. The only cool thing is the waterhole at night, if you are lucky.

Okay camping does the job of giving a stop over between the drive. We were in park for two days so perfect midway. Toilets were super clean shower with plenty hot water. Electricity at sites and washing dishes etc at some toilets. Plan visiting waterhole around sunset-40 + elephants fighting a rhino for spot in the middle. In morning a huge stalk made turtle it’s breakfast:) 790 two people pn

In fortunately Halali is in a disgraceful condition. The toilets need serious maintenance, not cleaned today which was a Sunday, soap dispensers in toilets empty and falling off walls, toilets cisterns not filling with water as valves blocked, door locks broken, not far too many visitors for the amount of staff available to attend to the issues, change rooms at swimming pool a discrace, loungers at swimming pool broken, braai areas not cleaned, overall the camp is a shame for Namibian tourism.

Spent 4 nights. Not sure what the negative criticism is about but we enjoyed our time here. Most of the staff and manager went out of their way to assist. Some things are expensive like buffet dinner @ $285, yet a very tasty beef burger & chips $85! The shop is expensive, so bring it with. Overall, still impressed after a 20 year absence.

Halali is a great camp. Pity there were some nasties when we were there. Camp sites were not cleaned properly, The camping ablutions were used by the staff at night and these were left in a terrible state by the morning. The camp security warned us about petty theft but did little to keep the non-campers out of the area. The pool was clean and usable and the restaurant was open although the breakfast we had was not much to write home about.

Ablutions are functioning but in need of maintenance. Huge swimming pool but very noisy pump. Lots of mozzies at the waterhole so wear repellent. Wonderful and quiet, a lot less people than other Etosha campsites.

Massive campground with plenty campsites. Most has electricity and water. Some with shade. Many ablution blocks and laundry facilities that were decent. The camp was quite and we found a nice secluded spot. Pool was closed:-( and shop VERY expensive (like all shops in Etosha). The waterhole is the highlight! Situated at the foot of the little “koppies” and overlooking the waterhole that is floodlit at night. Stunning! We paid the SADC special rate of ND400 (max 4 people) for the site.

Came in on a Saturday late without pre-booking. This was not a problem at all. Not even 10% of the campsites were taken. Great waterhole that is accessible 24/7. I could see rhinos and cheetahs there at night. 1p 1car w/ rooftop tent costed 356$.

Camping was what we expected from a NRW campsite. 710 dollar for 2 persons.
Camping was half full wich was ok. Enough distance to others, can't imagine how it is when it's fully booked. Enough ablutions, old but clean.
First camping we visited with many big groups, no music so it was ok.

we are at site 15, and we have wifi "from Time to time", wich is not usual in great campsites.
wifi is by voucher 50 n for 300 mo.
we made a réservation by internet Long Time ago, but it is no necessary because thé camp is suite empty (1/3 occupied).

Camp is fine.
Sites have power point. Shower and toilet are fine but run down. Not enough shade when it's hot.
The swimming pool is great.
The main reason to sleep here is the waterhole which is for us out of the 3 campsite is the best.
Well lit, nice view, comfortable, and plenty of action!
Price as of 1/11/2021 is 362pp/pn.

After reading the reviews on iOverlander we decided to head for Halali Campsite. Big mistake. Despite the "rules" saying it is an "offence" to disturb guests and animals, campers were allowed to play loud music at night. After complaining about it to one of the officials we were advised to sleep in the parking lot near the restaurant. We moved our vehicle to some dark spot where the noise was less. There was an ablussion building but horribly "out of order". We consider the N$400 we paid for the night as a lesson learned - not to book with the National Parks Board again. PS: After our move a security guard came to assure us that the music was stopped. We are glad for the rest of the campers, but for us it was too little too late.

A very nice campsite within Etousha NP. Plenty of ablution blocks scattered around so you can pick whichever you want to go too. Since we visited in the rainy season we paid $333 for 2 people and car.

Nicer than Okaukuejo, where we spent our first night in Etosha. Sites are larger and more spaced out, with some natural shade. Ablutions were clean, if in need of a little repair and TLC. Tap, braai and electricity. Camp shop has all the basics, and you can buy wifi vouchers at the restaurant. Enjoy the waterhole at night!

Good campsite. Above all, is the only camping located in its area, so not really other options. Clean toilets and good shower. Buy everything you need before driving there. Take meat and enjoy the braai.

Overcrowded and very dusty and noisy campsite. Several overland trucks with large groups. Tents very close together. Showers operating but very slow water flow. Smelling drains next to our campsite. Clearly we are not impressed, especially for 700 N$ for two people camping.
Next time we will camp outside the park and enter for the day.

Good campsite in central Etosha. Very nice waterhole where we saw Rhinos and plenty of other game every evening. Nice, big pool and good (albeit a bit tired) ablutions. Many camping spots that are fairly close together, but all have a braai spot, bins and water taps. Well stocked shop with braai packs, drinks etc.

A very basic camp with minimal shade and no personality as you would expect from NWR. Price N300pppn which we found to be expensive but fair considering it to be in Etosha. The underwhelming camp site was easily worth the freedom we had and the wildlife we enjoyed at the water hole. Literally a five minute walk from our camp with cooler box full of beers and blankets for the evening. There are nicer campsites but the watering hole makes it a unique and unmissable experience.

The campsite is nothing special, although each spot has power, light, hard standing, braii etc. The best part of this camp and why you should stay here is the waterhole! The best in ethosha. We saw it all here!

As described. Not cheap for a campsite, but the waterhole makes it worth it. Some of the best wildlife experience we've had. Hot and powerful showers. Nice pool. Expensive restaurant, but the store has somewhat reasonably priced food, wood, etc. The lady that checks you in is rude, but so are the ladies at the Okaukuejo campsite. You can buy WiFi (expensive) or airtime.

Very nice campsite, not that crowded that the main one. Pits are not exactly divided but there are some tables and seats, braai, recycling of the rubbish. Ablution ok, great swimming pool with green grass next to it. Waterhole- stunning! You sit there like in amphitheater and watch animals show: we saw bunch of elephants, two rhinos, springboks, kudu, jackals, hyaena and some birds. Great place in the middle of the national park. A little bit expensive if you compare it to other NWR campsites (Ai-Ais, Hobas, Sesriem) - 300 N$ per person per night.

So much nicer then the main camp, campsite is much nicer, waterhole is amazing to sit and watch what comes next to drink. Rather would stay here for a night or 2 then the other camp.

Beware of trying the trick of arriving at 5pm or later as suggested in the post of 2/8/17. We tried it, arriving at 5:15 and were turned away (although they offered the honeymoon suite which was the "only accommodation left). Our friends arrived at 5:30 and were turned away, but they refused to leave and were offered the honeymoon suite or a cheaper chalet - eventually they were allowed to camp. Another guy was turned away a week ago too...
We drove to Okaukoujo and arrived as they locked the gates - with us inside. They had space in spite of having told us they were full in the morning.

Dusty and busy Campsite. They said they are booked out one Week in Advance. However, if you arrive after 5 p.m. they can't turn you away and will place you in the Overflow Area. There was a Party going on some hundred Meters away. Maybe that's why we saw no Animals at all at the Waterhole! Not recommended. The Olifantsrus Camp inside the Park is also expensive but way better.

Very big and busy campsite. I paid N$ 400 for 1 person, 1 night. Ablutions clean. Cold showers! Pitches are laid out in a very confusing way and could use some maintenance but are generally okay.
Waterhole was excellent! I saw lots of black rhinos and dozens of elephants. Camp is surprisingly quiet at night and well lit.
Wifi was down. Haven't tried the restaurant or pool.

Very commercial and quite expensive. Buffet dinner is 230pp... Breakfast is about 150pp. The waterhole is great at night, however if you're on a budget I'd be staying at Onguma on the east side of the park.

Very dusty campsite, a little sandwiched in. But there is a really nice floodlit waterhole. Pitches offer braai area, electric, seating area, and water. N$246 pppn for camping, N$10 vehicle fee per day. N$60 for SADC and N$90 for foreigners park fee per day. Park fees only purchased here or at Okaukuejo campsite.

Large terrain of very fine sand with trees that give little shadow in the dry season. Well maintained, new ablutions. Waterhole nearby. Fee does not include park entry.

Campground next to the resort. Dirt and dust, some trees for shade. Most sites have electric and Braai areas. Hot showers, dish washing stations in camp area. Resort has pool, restaurant, bar, petrol, basic shop but no internet. You can walk to the nearby waterhole to see animals at night.
