South Africa
Nice municipal campground with lots of shade next to river in the old part of this town. We couldn't find anyone to take payment so possibly free - just open the gate. Toilets, braai, showers etc all clean and well maintained. Hard to find - municipal ground is behind white metal sign for Woonwa Park Caravan Park (not used). Quiet and no hassle from friendly locals. Nice views of surrounding mountains. Roads in are gravel and rough in places. Camp area flat. Couldn't get hot water from shower although these appear to be gas fired. Vodacom 3G available

This is a lovely grassy campsite. The Walkerbout Inn is managing the campsite. We stayed for free because there were no hot water in the showers. The ablutions are clean. We went to the Walkerbouts Inn to collect the key to the bathrooms. Huge ancient trees are your only company in the campsite. It was lovely to walk around the sleepy town of roads. There are a rose garden, herb garden and many rental cottages. There are a shop, hotel and information centre too.
Report Check-InExcellent camp ground. Still free if you don’t use the ablution block. My vehicle is self sufficient so don’t know the price to use the ablutions.
Safe, quiet and beautiful.
No street lights in Rhodes so you get the most breathtaking views of millions of stars.
Handful of purpose built fireplaces and grids to cook on. Locals are friendly and the police were seen driving around patrolling the streets in the early evening.
Report Check-InThe manucipal camp ground looks neat but there was no water at the time. Something to do with a paid meter. Key and payment at Walkabouts.
We slept at the end by the Rhodes Hotel and they kindly offered us a room to shower in.
Very nice place to camp, the only problem is the noise of cars driving past at night and some of the local community playing loud music but on the other hand I was there on new year's eve so it's not surprising, I'm sure it will be quiet during the rest of the year
Report Check-Invery cheap: 80 per site! very quiet. you must go to the hotel to take the key for ablutions block. clean and hot showers.garbage and braai.in the city center but no noise! lovely!
