Safe place, amazing view but very noisy! near Carlsbad NP so ready to go early in the morning. very early because time changing in this area!

Report Check-In

Nice Texas DOT rest area/picnic area. They allow 24 hour parking stays. It is of course right along the highway, so we expected road traffic and got some. Not bad during the night though. The area is very clean and well maintained. 11 miles from Guadalupe National Park Pine Springs Trailhead.

nice rest stop on hwy 62 -1 mile east of Mckittrick Canyon in the Guadalupe National Park. the rest area is an island with big rig parking on each end and car/van parking along both sides. I choose the side farther from the hwy. trash cans and covered picnic areas. clean. no vending machines drinking fountains, but no spigots for water. weak Verizon.

Overnight rest area for rigs of any size. Plenty of spots here. We are. B Class, so we parked in the car spots to leave room for big rigs.
The rest area is clean, easy to access and right on the road. absolutely no cell service here. But it is right between the two national parks.
it was a super windy night (30+ mph winds) and this is an exposed area on the Mount top - so winds were crazy. If it is a high wind night, I recommend heading to Carlsbad, New Mexico (@ 30 minutes to the BLM lands just before you get to town or 40 minutes to town/Walmart lot) over this rest area.

Couldn’t recommend this place more. We were able to see the moon rise and in the morning had stunning views of the mountains.

Report Check-In

Spent one night here as we were making our way from Guadalupe Mountains to Carlsbad. It was mostly quiet, but some of the parking spaces are very close to the highway, so lots of road noise. It was an otherwise peaceful night.

Report Check-In

The building at the rest stop itself wasn’t open for indoor bathrooms, but they did have very clean porta potties. Very well-lit open space with lots of options for parking. Pretty noisy but overall A-okay.

Report Check-In

A really nice rest area with information and overnight parking. not many spaces but you can park eastbound or westbound and they are flat

Report Check-In

Cell signal spotty but free place for the night with indoor plumbing and drinking water fountains. Pretty view along the highway but I looped around to the other side of the building to block road noise. Shaded picnic tables. Pretty busy as this is one of the only rest areas for a very long while but overall not bad for the night. Well lit and feels safe.

Good Rest Stop to stay after visiting Guadalupe NP. clean bathrooms and a good amount of spaces. some road noise but nothing too bad. a few cars and one semi stayed as well.

Report Check-In

Basic rest stop, not as nice as most of the Texas rest stops but this one gets the job done. Close to the road so expect road noise. Little to no service ATT/ Verizon BUT if you have a cell booster you can get a few bars.

In order to find this place I had to use Google Maps vs Apple Maps. It was listed as Pines springs rest area. It’s about 10 north miles from the Guadalupe Mountain NP visitor center. We arrived here around 8 pm and we were the only people here. We are in a camper van so we parked on the cars side instead of the RV and semi side. Others did arrive later, it is near the road so you do hear traffic but it isn’t a super busy road, so we had no issues sleeping. The center is very clean and has some picnic area with shade. AT&T service is very spotty; I would have one bar and then I would have none.

A little noisy, but not terrible - get what you ask for.. a rest area next to a highway. It worked for me, tired from hiking in Guadalupe and free to stay. Texas law allows you to overnight at a rest stop for one night. That’s gracious of them.

Backcountry sites are not available right now due to COVID, so this location just outside GMNP turned out to be super convenient. There are picnic tables and bathrooms with flush toilets and running water. Could easily walk in and dig a cat hole. Big rig friendly and of parking. Right next to a 75 mph highway, so expect noise. Ear plugs work nicely! There is no wifi. Verizon and Spectrum only getting 3G. Not getting any LTE service. Only downside!

Stayed here 1 night after finishing Guadalupe MTNS NP. Some corrections - as of Mar31,202 there is no WIFI, No Potable Water (not even a water fountain any more) and there is plenty of highway noise - that being said. Flush toilets and sinks are available in the rest stop. Closest Potable Water I found was just inside the “Frijole Ranch Entrance” to GMNP about 8 minutes down the road.

Stayed here because the campground in the Park was at capacity. But this is actually very similar to the RV parking in the Park. Except for the traffic noise - but of course it *is* a rest area right beside the highway. That being said, we had a good night's sleep.

The attendant, who seems to do a good job of keeping the facilities clean, said the wifi hasn't worked for years. The sign should come down.

Near busy road so can be noisy. we had an 18wheeler running a generator next to us in the night. lots of pic nic tables, bathrooms and water fountains. it mentions wifi but there was no signal available.

Report Check-In

Loud and crowded. Not the best rest stop. Pretty run down.

Report Check-In

We stayed at this place overnight. It’s probably the worst place we’ve ever stayed during 4 years of continuously travelling in the US and Canada, at free places. During the night the road became even more busy, lots of heavy trucks. One after the other stopped, engine turning, checking their vehicle outside, with lots of noise. After about 15 minutes they left, to be followed by another one shortly after. The loudest one had a double load of cows ... making such a heavy and bad noise, sounded as if they were very stressed. We didn’t sleep ... good place for one night, in case their is no better alternative. WiFi didn’t show up on the parking lot, even not with a booster.
