Description

If you are traveling on hwy 81 and can spare a slight detour, this place is a gem. Nature reserve (think west Texas desert) with full time rangers, nature paths, river access, and empty campground...it’s well off the beaten path. Between Asunción and Salta there is almost nothing in the way of serviceable camping, so we were happy to drive the 50 km of dirt road off the highway to spend a night here. Buggy but not unbearable. *Free

Latest Check-Ins

great free Campsite with toilettes and showers. the water is not drinkable. You have to walk the trail during sunrise or sunset. we saw a turtle, maras, an amardillo and of course so many birds! at the second mirador on this trail we had 4g with claro.

The road out here is not too bad and the camping quite nice. The bathrooms are okay and you can have a shower. The guards are very nice. We didnt see a lot of animals. There are some mosquitos, but doable. The trails are nice and the view on the river as well. A good free option to spend the night.

Nice little campground with VERY basic amenities. Offers lots of birds, a nice walk of about 5 km, where we saw a big anteater, giant storks, vultures and more.

The friendly ranger provided wood for a fire. No one there in august, therefore very quiet.
It is quite a detour from Hwy 81, if you are just looking for a place to stay for the night. We have been there 2 nights and it was well worth it.
