Fantastic free BLM campground! Has level rv sites in the sun and 5 well shaded tent sites down by the creek. Some tent sites share parking. One handicapped spot at the top of loop 2. All sites have tent pads. Popular trailhead at the end of the campground with ample parking. 2-3 bar LTE tmobile, 1-2 bars verizon, dark skies, pit toilets, fire rings, tables. no trash.

Towing a 40 foot trailer, NOT RECOMMENDED!! Very tight turns.
Beautiful spot!!Great for smaller vehicles.

Beautiful place, especially with the fall colors. Quiet and clean. Got the last RV spot at noontime, so get here early!

Long day driving from Salmon, ID. Nice free campground up a steep paved road. We took site #1 in the first loop of 3. More on up in the next loop. Those were more RV friendly. One was even paved, our is thick gravel and very well may present a problem for the chair b4 we leave tomorrow, it's also very difficult to walk in due to my feet dragging through the gravel and the walker sinking in. Site 1 does have great afternoon shade, which is nice since it is quite warm. The spots in the second loop will not have shade till much later in the day.

Bob will drive the rig out of the campsite to a more level and much less gravel-y area so that I can get safely to the truck.

The plan for tomorrow is to find a fcfs camping area near Strawberry Reservoir to wait out the w/e and then move to Strawberry and hopefully get out on the handicapped pontoon fishing boat, and actually CATCH some fish.

the road in is steep - not for the light hearted or those with a fear of heights. I sure wouldn't come here in bad weather!
lovely campground. yes free. pit toilets. I have Verizon signal with my weBoost

Nice campground near my home. the upper spots are all trailer friendly and there is usually an open spot. The lower spots are almost always full and one has to be lucky to snag one of those creekside spots. There are 3 pit toilets scattered about. Cell coverage is good at the upper campground (Verizon) but spotty the lower you get into the campground. Beats the heck out of Walmart or rest stop overnighting and it's only about a ten minute drive from the highway. Two bars of Verizon LTE near the entrance.

all gates were open, only one RV up there, 2wd vehicle easy road, but due to high wind advisory 35+mph i ended up leaving. not great for tent camping right now but any enclosed vehicle you'd be fine in.

I needed a spot for the night on my drive home. I didn't like any options in SLC and this spot was another 1.3 hrs, so I did it and was very glad. Beautiful, clean spot. I was the only one in the cg. Gorgeous drive down the MT in the morning.

The road is not Mantained in winter we manage to come up to the firs big turn before the long straight stretch , semi flat spot and nice view on the valley, slept there, beautiful night sky view.

Easy place to get to,nice road. We were there Friday around noon not to many people, but by evening it was full. Come early. At the end of the road / tent spots there's a motorcycle trail you can hike.

Beautiful drive up Merrill Road off the 15. Well-kept campground for sure! We ended up staying in spot number one because all the spots down by the creek were full. We were very thankful we had spot number one because it was bug free, had lots of space, lots of shade and lots of privacy. It was a short walk to the creek! This place looks very popular however we got here at 6:30 PM on a Saturday night and were able to snag one of three spots left. However it did fill up for the night! Would highly recommend this place especially for people traveling north to the national parks!

Report Check-In

The drive up Merrill Rd off the 15 was beautiful! Campground is well kept. We stayed in spot #1 because all the spots down by the creek were full. We were really happy with spot #1 because there were no bugs, tons of shade, lots privacy and it was a large spot! Great views from spot #1 and a short walk to the creek! Looks like a popular place but we got here at 6:30 pm on a Sat. and there were 3 spots still open, however, it did fill up for the night. Highly recommend it for those going North to National Parks.

Beautiful spot! Open as of 04/21 but still a bit of snow on the roads. We were fine with a 2 week drive van but a few larger rigs and trollers were parked in the day use because they couldn’t get in. Pit toilets and fire rings but no other facilities.
