Probably the best place to get a Sudanese visa. Everything was easy and quick. Very friendly employees as well. Here are the documents to provide:

- Application Form (downloadable from the website or get it at the Embassy);
- Two (2) passport sized photos;
- A Sudanese National Sponsor (with full details e.g. Full Name, Current Address, Phone Number). IF NO SPONSOR, they will accept: A confirmation letter from a Hotel in Sudan containing the hotel reservation details OR A letter from a Travel Agency in Sudan containing the details of the trip;
- Original passport (must be valid for at least 6 months);
- Photocopy of your passport;
- Photocopy of your Kenyan Visa;
- Air ticket out of Sudan AND/OR visa for onward travel;
- Fee is $50 (for most nationalities) payable at the embassy (you can pay in Ksh too, although not at a great rate, around 5% more).

You will be granted a visa valid for 2 months from the date of issue. And the length of stay is 2 months.
The normal processing time may take 5-7 business days. But I got it in 3 days.

For visa applications, they open at 9:30.

The embassy only issues visas if you are flying from Kenya to Sudan. If driving through Ethiopia must get visa at Addis Ababa. payment in USD allowed (our maybe only method) and yes $150 pp for USA citizens, $50 USD for all other non Kenyans.

I got the E-visa online, (US Passport) it was a very easy process. You have to upload a passport copy and passport photo, and pay online with credit card. I recieved confirmation the next day. You will need to print the visa and payment receipt. I crossed at Omarate, and it was accepted with no problems (see my note on the border post there if you plan to go that way), and I know a French couple who crossed at Moyale with the E-visa as well. It seems there is no need to waste time with embassies and letters of invitation any longer.

We applied at 09:30 and got the visa at 16:00. the visa was 50USD pp. single entry valid for two month.

make sure you have all your documents ready. otherwise the guy in the front office will not let you pass to talk to the consul.

Might have been sheer luck but we managed to obtain our Sudanese visa here.
We submitted a letter of our embassy (Hungary) like the one needed for the Ethiopian visa, accommodation booking, passport copy, a copy of a bank card and 5100 KES pp (cash). We explained that we are tourists etc and want to visit northern part of Kenya and Ethiopia, so we need 60 days to enter Sudan instead of the regular 30 days - that was granted to us. After entering Sudan, the visa is valid for 2 months. Applications for visa weekdays from 8 to 12, our visa was issued on the next day. Very positive experience, nice staff.

Not very helpful guy reading his newspaper behind the counter. Tried to apply for a (transit) visa here but was told I must get it in Addis Ababa.

Took a seat again and after 5 min was called for again. To get the transit visa they require a letter from your own Embassy as well as the Ethiopian and Egypt visa. Egypt visas unfortunately are not issued to non-residents in Nairobi. I decided to try my luck in Addis.

On the notice board it says 5 days processing for non-Kenyans and 5100 KSH (or 15300 KSH if you’re so unlucky to be American).
