Primitive campground tucked away. Just showed up and parked. You can stay for up to 14 days according to the website. Parked with a 35 foot rig and it was a bit tight. Perfect for tents and vans. Bigger rigs may have trouble fitting without sticking out into the road (signage says roads must be clear.) We drove in a car and checked out the space before moving the RV and if you’re able, I’d recommend doing the same.

Nice place right on the lake! Only 2 other cars here.

Absolutely gorgeous right by the river and it's FREE! Only one other person here currently and I grabbed the spot next to the toilets because I'm recovering from a stomach bug. Mint mobile is iffy, better service if you walk down to the boat launch if you need to check messages.

been staying here regularly since 2006. there IS running water here - it may not be year round but at least during the summer the bathrooms have a sink, steel toilets, and there's a water bottle tap outside. it can be surprisingly empty or full, difficult to predict, but it's easy, free, and always interesting people.

Free campsite. No cell service, but has pit toilets, dumpsters, picnic tables, and fire rings. Only one other person here.

lovely spot, near the river at the bottom of the dam. It has 20 sites, they are close together but campground was about half full so not too bad. I can see where this might be zoo in peak season. altogether nice and quiet though.

Perfect overnight stop as the snow set in. - the Stingelberries

Report Check-In

I came here off-season and it was a prime location. Only one other person pulled in after dark. Stars like crazy! Firepits, picnic tables, bathrooms and half-decent Verizon. I would likely not recommend peak season as others have mentioned.

Lovely place -free restrooms water access (river) just a short walk maybe 5 mins rained during my stay but was lovely the next morning- by the road but not loud at all you are next to your neighbors but usually there’s no one here

Report Check-In

Open again. There are 18 spots but they are very close to each other. Each spot does have a picnic table and fire pit

Report Check-In

Super clean. Friendly people. Water spigots in main bathroom.

Report Check-In

As described: Nice in low season, camping spots are very close to eachother. Every site has a picnic table&fire ring.

Report Check-In

Deserted off season as described.
I would not stay here during high season since places are way to close to each other. Expect no privacy.

Great spot right next to the damn and put in for the upper Gauley
