*'No overnight' parking rule will be enforced.
.....
Parking by the water next to a dock. It's 3 hours parking for free from
8ham To 5hpm. No camping sign with a tent logo but no 'no overnight parking' sign and it's possible to pay for 24 hours for the people that are taking the ferry. We tried it and we're all good. Downtown Nanaimo !
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Closed. Bylaw officers will enforce no overnight parking and you could be towed.
Report Check-InWas up and ready to head out when a bylaw officer knocked at exactly 8oclock. Said no overnight parking/camping allowed. Probably could get away with it if arriving late & leaving early, but saw him knock on everyone else’s windows too.
Report Check-Inspent the night here from getting off the ferry. nobody bothered us.
beautiful area to walk around.
It says 3h parking but I’ve been here 5 days and 4 nights and nobody checks.
Free ShawGo wifi (better connection the closer you are to the park), public washrooms 6am to 9/11pm (depending on time of the year) and water fountain
overnight parking, water spigot behiñd bathrooms, bathrooms open 6am-8pm, food venders during the summer days!
Report Check-InGood place to stay overnight if you’re going to ferry. There’s a 9cad fee for 24hour parking so we didn’t risk staying there without paying but we didn’t see anyone check our bill. Public washrooms are closed after 6-7 pm and there is no other restroom, but really close to the ferry so I would recommend it. Nice walk by the ocean but parking lot was really messy
Report Check-InWe arrived here in middle of the night with the last ferry. Little noisy with the road but a nice place to wake up at and have breakfast. Big restrooms, a play area and a nice view.
Report Check-InLarge Parking lot with really nice beach/waterfront access.
A few “rock pools” under the bridge which we found crabs, starfish and urchins in.
We stayed overnight in 2 vans and no one bothered us.
Looks like parking is enforced from 8-5 but we didn’t pay and we were fine!
Left around 10am the next day with no tickets.
A little bit of road noise but overall it’s a fine place to spend the night.
Report Check-InPerfect for an over night sleep.
It has bathrooms at the park beside.
It says 3h free after u need to pay. Did not pay at night al was good!
My partner and I thought this would be a great spot to stay one night. We got a lovely park in the afternoon and it all looked and felt beautiful. At about 8:30 at night we went to walk to Tim Hortons just up the road from here and once we returned to our car, we noticed a group of men smoking bongs directly behind our van then we went to use the toilet block that is located in the park and we noticed groups of people everywhere then the women’s toilet was hot from a lady who was clearly drugged up standing at the heater to keep warm for the night. All her belongings were hung up everywhere in the bathroom and when I went to wash my hands only one basin was available due to all her belongings scattered everywhere and she had a box of needles sitting right alongside the basin I was using. Once we returned to our van we noticed a lot of cars pulling up then shortly after they would leave. We also had one car pull up just in front of us and a group sat in the car while a man got out with a drink and was strangely walking around near by. After this we had done some research online about the area and realised homeless rates and drug use is a huge issue and that the park where we were is one of the popular hang out spots for the local homeless and drug users. There was also multiple reviews of needles being found throughout the park. A shame that the night time is a completely different feel and place to what it is at day as during the day, it is a lovely place to stop by for a walk. We have always relied on IOverlander and tend to go to places with a lot of reviews and obviously good reviews so we thought it was going to be a great spot! We have now learnt to be more aware of reviews and to look more into the area before parking for the night. Sorry to disappoint you all on this location!!
Report Check-InStayed for two nights with no problems - Monday to Friday it’s 8am - 5pm, with the first 3 hours of your stay free. Close to public bathrooms, which shut at 11pm and open again at 6am. There is no camping signs, but no overnight parking and many people seemed to be doing it. Close to downtown, the harbour, a salt water lagoon and the ferry to Newcastle island ($8pp round trip).
Great spot!
Report Check-InAs described. Pretty quiet. Stayed two nights with no problems. Pay parking only Mon-Fri 8am-5pm. We didn’t have to pay either night.
Report Check-InVery good spot, we were able to stay with our 36ft RV for 9CAD/24hrs. I didn't find it really noisy, especially during the night.
Report Check-InJust a parking lot. Noisy and busy road, but useful if you are arriving late from the ferry. Bathrooms open from 6am to 11pm.
Report Check-InAs described. Parking lot next to the sea and ferry for Newcastle Island, close to downtown, wash rooms nearby. 9$ for 24h. Needed my earplugs because there was some noise from traffic. Good for one night.
Report Check-InStayed here on a Friday night, no problem! Free after 5pm. Took a bit of driving around the parking lot to find a flat spot, but otherwise great! Awesome views for breakfast.
