we just asked to camp and they said no camping us authorised in the park.
You are not allowed to park in the car park if the visitor centre so the ranger told us to park here. It’s fairly sheltered. You can use the toilets at the centre, otherwise no facilities. Just a gravel space with enough space for one or two vehicles halfway up the hill from the centre. Note - You can’t access the camping from this side (entering either south or north entrance to Cuevas de las manos). To access the camping (which looks close on the map) you have to enter much further north to the national park as there is a massive canyon in the middle between las cuevas and the park on the other side. Indeed las cuevas is 12,000 ARG now pp. Expensive but amazingly cool! We really enjoyed seeing the cave paintings.
Report Check-Inpeople are visitor center told us to stay here. you even can connect to free (and good) WiFi from visitor center from the van. windy but OK to visit the cuevas next morning. toilets at visitor center are locked during night. also few hiking trails to Patagonia Park starting from here.
Report Check-InGreat place to stay before or after visiting the Cuevas de las Manos. Park ranger guided us here after not allowing camping at the ranger station. I guess wind protection really depends on the direction of the wind; for us it was the worst wind we've had in all of Patagonia. Amazing sunset and sunrise, though. Not to mention the night sky! I THINK I've had a close encounter with a puma here. As I came back to the van from stargazing, something big enough to make rocks fall down the nearby hill came towards me. I got scared, so I raced towards the car! Later we heard noices that may have been footsteps around the vehicle and the next day found a big puddle of pee next to the camper; round and clean like a cat's, not 'splashy' like a guanaco's. The ranger confirmed that a puma was sighted in the valley that week. 10/10 would stay again!
Report Check-InPark ranger told us this was a good place to spend the night in our camper. It’s fairly sheltered from the wind. It is literally just a wide bend in the road with some space to reverse back and get the van level enough though not perfect. Space for perhaps three campers if parked tightly enough.
You can house the toilets and Wi-Fi down at the visitor centre.
Report Check-InBeautiful spot! We didn't have that much wind, so we enjoyed the beautiful sundown at the canyon and joined the first tour into the caves. Free toilet at the entrance. Could be to windy for tents, but when we were here the weather was good.
It's the last corner before the visitors centre, a bit higher than the official parking.
Great view, semi sheltered from winds. Winds died down at night anyway.
Report Check-InWe parked here for the night following the instructions from the staff because we arrived after 6pm and we couldn’t visit the caves.
It was really really windy at night! But the view on the canyon is incredible.
Good place to stay the night for those who do not want to travel late at night. The ranger recommands this place. It is approx 500m before the visitor center in a curve of the road.
No facilities. We stayed here with a camper van. No wind at all.
The ranger advised us to stay here. Wind died down during the night. Glad to have seen the paintings. There are 3 routs to here. One from the south at Bajo Caracoles. One signposted further north from RN40. This is a smoth graded gravel road and one from the estancia further north. Zie comments. Only if you want to go down and out of the gorge.
Report Check-InWe spent a very windy night here before visiting the cueva. Although it is right next to the road, there is no traffic, and the views across the canyon were stunning!
The cueva is open all year and the price stays at $200ARS for extranjeros regardless of season. This includes a guided tour which they run hourly from 9am, and the last tour is at 6pm. We were hesitant at first, as it is expensive, but it was very interesting and totally worth it
Report Check-InThe new fee is 200 ARS per person. free for children. It's very expensive for the visit.
Report Check-InStill 120Ap/pp . Really worth the visit, the view over the canyon are really Nice, even in winter. Camping is forbiden around visitor center.
Report Check-In120ap per person for the tour. Tours are every hour on the hour from 9:00-17:00
Report Check-InGood spot with good views. In sight of the visitors centre but the suggested it.
