BLM land closed to south entrance Zion NP. dirty and uphill road. its ok for a 4x2. probably not for a big rv
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
we went to this site and its clearly posted no camping. if you go a couple more miles up the road you will see a side spur on the right at the top of the hill. there are quite a few spots on this road and still close to Zion.
Report Check-InIt’s closed. Sign NO PARKING.
To much sand.
Tiene cartel de No Parking ni Acampar, aparentemente es nuevo el cartel.
Hay demasiada arena también.
Didn't make it to the spot in our VW Vanagon 2WD...Road was too sandy and we decided to turn around. Better take one of the spots east (along Route 9) of Zion NP as they are accessable with any kind of car/rig.
Report Check-InDefinitely worth coming here, the area seems to have some traffic but pretty mellow for the most part, we drive a lifted 2wd ford e350 and didn’t have any problems at all, 4x4 or high clearance might not be needed, we did see some smaller cars driving though but the road did seem a bit too rough for someone who doesn’t have experience driving in terrain like this.
If confident worthy checking out.
We ended up driving further up than the markers on maps and seems like the options are better.
To clarify, as many place in BLM, the sign at the entrance say "no camping the first half mile" and yes the few stop at the entrance has a no camping site because it's way to close.
But if you continue, you will find a big flat surface on the rigth, just before it goes up. And there you can.
But, if you can continue and climb the hill, you will find maybe a kilometer after a road on you're rigth and there is a dozen or more spot to camp and park. But, the road is reallly hard. We have a gmc savana and we maybe go to far sometime on dirt road, it's possible but it's moving a lot. But if you are in the crowdy zion all day, the place is worth it.
This morning when we went to zion leaving the place, the falt surface was full of camper, so if you like to be quiet, maybe not the best (as we prefer) and they're was car on the place where was the no camping sign.
Report Check-InSign at beginning of road states no camping on either side of road. All but one pull off had distinct “no camping” signage as well. Ended up going to the wild camp spot listed as Kolob Terrace Road, which was lovely, with many great spots by the creek.
