Bolivia
This road goes through Bolivia for 3 km. People with vehicle normally don't take it as cars have been confiscated by Bolivian authority. (So goes the story, but a tourist guide affirmed this).
We on bicycles took this shortcut, but north from here is sandy, which wouldn't be easy to climb up (We had downhill going north).

I was passing this road during pandemic time (covid19). Didn’t saw any spikes or tyre killer as mentioned in previous reviews. For me it’s safe road. I came from south (colchane), there was a fence that closed that road, but it’s easily to open the fence. From south, it’s climbing road to get back to chile. The road condition is quiet bad condition but manageable with my motorbike, but don’t think it is possible with 2wd, or small clearance car. Don’t use this road after raining, it will impossible to pass it even with motorbike.
Report Check-Inmaybe we got really unlucky but we got two flat tires taking this route. The metal that pinched our tire looks like it was placed on purpose - but just speculation! no police or any signs. Felt a bit nervous while taking that road after reading the warning here on iOverlander haha.
Report Check-InA couple was stuck in here for two days and no one drove by... Not a safe place according to the police, because a lot of smuggling is going on in this area.
Report Check-InSo, after contemplating for 2 days whether to take this illegal route or not I went ahead because it is just 3km vs 30km legal road. The road was ok..a bit sandy here and there but manageable. Now, the problem is I discovered they buried 'tyre killers' or spikes (refer picture) here and there on the road comouflage with the dusty dirt road. So if you want to take this road, be extra careful. Road is lonely, don't get stuck there a flat tyre. you don't want that to happen in the middle of nowhere. safe travel everyone.
Report Check-InWe rode our motorcycles though here without issue at 11am. Sand is not deep.
