Description

Old growth redwoods in this state park. campground is nice and there are plenty of trails. recommend reservations if here in peak season or you want multiple nights in a row. rangers can only sell first come first serve sites for one night. cleanest state park cg in the US that we've stayed at. dogs only allowed on pavement and in campground, not on trails. road to this park is very narrow and lots of hairpin turns. CA state park website has specifics on length restrictions.

We stayed here 4 nights without a reservation, basically if you don’t book ahead minimum 48 hours before you have to use the waiting list system - you put your name down each morning (can do it later in the day but best in the morning so you’re at the top of the list) then at 5pm each day they announce the amount of vacant campsite and allocate them according to the list. We did this for 4 nights straight and got lucky every time, in the middle of Summer. This forest is amazing we could have stayed weeks. Still 35 a night but worth every penny we loved this campsite and the trails. Bring quarters for the shower!!!
