Stunning place and animals. Don't miss out on it. Just don't forget: you need a reservation, and check the opening days and hours!!!

Report Check-In

Very nice to do it! They were very near…because of rain. Don’t miss it.

Report Check-In

Now it’s 15,000 ARG per person which we thought was very expensive for what it is. You have someone who takes the group to the penguins and gives a short talk and then you have to use the binoculars to get a good view of the penguins. The penguins are beautiful though! It was cool to see them but you only have two lookout spots that look to exactly the same place so there’s not much of a walk or tour. I’d say only do it if you LOVE penguins. There are so many other places to see penguins like punta tombo where they literally walk in front of you!

Report Check-In

Nur mit vorheriger Online-Anmeldung. Eintritt für 2 Erwachsene kostet aktuell 30.000 chilenische Peso. Zahlbar in Bar oder mit Karte. 1h Zeitfenster.

Report Check-In

Nice place to see king pingouins. Price is quite reasonable (15’000) as you have information and they are at around 30m. You have binoculars on-site.

Report Check-In

It’s open from Thursday to Sunday from 11am to 5pm. You better book online your ticket to be sure to get a spot (you pay onsite).
It’s 15’000clp pp and it last 1h. A bit expensive but for us it was worth it !

Report Check-In

15000 CLP adult, 10000 adult >60a. online reservation strongly recommended. if you haven't ask the Lady when she opens the gate, don't impose yourself. for best pictures via binoculars: choose zoom 2.2, then Focus on the Light Spot. enjoy, we had a good time.

Report Check-In

Price is 15,000 CLP per adult now. They also made us leave after an hour so there's no hanging out and observing like you'd probably want. Regardless the king penguins are super cool and the big fluffy brown chicks are the cutest ugly critters ever. Worth it for us Americans who probably won't make it out to any of the island colonies any time soon.

Report Check-In

Unique opportunity to see King Penguins on the mainland, and therefore i’d say it’s worth it. The guides are knowledgeable. The being said, it’s a very small colony and the staff… not very welcoming. They let backpackers and cyclist wait outside the gates in pouring rain and wind without any protection at all, while they could just let them 10m in where there is some basic shelter and maybe even sell them some junk from their souvenir shop. Not a cool vibe at all.

Report Check-In

Very sad experience at the parque. We are travelling for 2 months through Chili and never had any problems with our creditcards. But at this place for the first time, it declined. The lady at the front desk wasn't helpful to figure out how we could make it work, let's say: she was rude. Wouldn't listen to our advice. Suddenly she couldn't speak english anymore. If we wanted to give our last cash Chilean pesos to get in, a 3000 pesos less than the entree, it wasn't possible. They rather be stubborn than get the money and clients.

Report Check-In

Verbrachten eine ruhige Nacht am Parkplatz vor dem Gelände. 8km Schotterpiste von der Straße nach Cerro Sombrero.

Report Check-In

Good sheltered view on the beautiful penguins and their chicks. Good binoculars in the viewing shelters.
Lot of Information from the guide in English. And he made nice videos with our mobile on the big binocular. Unfortunately our mastercard didn’t work and only chilean pesos are accepted. Luckily we could change some with other travelers.
About the price.. we gladly left money at this place because it’s clearly used for conservation purposes.

Report Check-In

private organisation which make benefits on small Penguins. Price top expensive, on my opinion, for what it is.

Report Check-In

Highly recommended. Only place where king penguins nest in the continental world. Other breeding grounds are all islands. $12,000 pesos. If you can’t get a reservation and show up in a small group they’ll likely be able to fit you in. FYI, early Feb is baby chick season.

Report Check-In

Showed up this morning before 10 as they told us there is a big chance you can join without reservation (only in the morning). A group of 15 people (car/bikers) were waiting also without reservation. The office waited for the people that booked but nobody showed up so they let everybody in after 10. I think they need to change the system as you can reserve a spot easily online and a lot of people don't show up. At this moment you had to book 6 days in advance to get a spot.
This place is worth your money, they take good care of the place, focus on growing the population without human intervening and are very knowledgeable.

Report Check-In

We didn't have a ticket, we couldn't book online because the last step in the process didn't work. I sent them an app twice, but no reaction. We showed up this morning a little bit before 10 o'clock and we could do the tour. Nice to see the animals. We paid 12000 pp.

Report Check-In

Open time slots on the hour: 10am-4pm.
12000CLP each. We didn’t reserve, showed up an luckily they had space for us. Group size per hour is still 15ppl. Great guides. If you show up early and waiting in the car park, look for the brave foxes nearby..

Report Check-In

Highly recommended! The guide did a great job and it was very nice watching the king penguins that are so different than the other penguins in Patagonia. Price now lower again (12k CLP pp).
We reserved 2 days in advance but our hitchhiker also got in without reservation.

Report Check-In

Great to watch the big penguins that close. The have good binoculars and a telescopes for you to use at the viewing platform.

Price was now 14.000 per person. Online everything was booked but we still went and could use some reservations of no-shows.
We did the circle drive from Punta Arenas with two different ferries, which was nice because of the many animals we saw on the way, but costs around the same as the tours sold in town (gas, ferries, car rental).

Report Check-In

Price was 14.000 pp. Make sure to reserve a timeslot! Website plugin for reservations wasn’t working so we texted & phoned. Speaks Spanish and English. Phonenumber is: +56 9 9831 9211. Open Thursdays to Sundays.

Report Check-In

Pretty nice place to see king penguins. And unique if you haven't been in South Georgia or one of the other remote islands. The guide, Aurora, who co-founded the project in 2011, is very friendly and explained a lot. In the shoulder season only open Thursday to Sunday, 11 am to 5 pm. Reservation needed, via website or (if the plug-in isn't working) via WhatsApp/ Email. Price was 16.000 CLP/ 12 USD p.P.

Recommend, if you are going down the road to Caleta Maria anyway, not worth a huge detour IMHO. But maybe we've seen too many penguins in Antarctica...

Report Check-In

you have to reserve a timeslot online beforehand. open thursday - sunday right now. The guide was really nice and explained a lot about the pengiuns life

Report Check-In

Very rude lady at the entrance explained that we are not allowed to be let in because we have an Argentine flag. Their reasoning was that we had no PCR test and no vaccination that was confirmed by Chile. Both of them are wrong. She didn't let her talk to her either.
Open Friday till Sunday at 11 am. Entrance with reservation at 10 am.

Report Check-In

It's open again! We were the first ones in today. Because of the covid there are some restrictions... you can only stay one hour because it's limited to 12 persons/hour, you have to book on their website, the price is reduce to 8000 pp. Very friendly staff. They prefer if you pay by card.
It's amazing to see this colony! Even if it was just one hour, we had a great time. There are 30 chicks right now! Magical... If you like animals and especially penguins, you won't regret it!

Report Check-In

Really nice park to visit! It is a small group of pinguïns but it is fantastic to see them!

Report Check-In

Still Chil$ 12000/person. To see this penguin for us is totally worth the money and though we support this place.
15 km gravel road (coming from north) was in very good condition, seemed that the grader has just made the road.

Report Check-In

very expensive for see 40 pingouinos ... we stay not a lot of time because it s really windy.

Report Check-In

We didnt go into the park, just took a photo of the price and opening times. Check photo.

gravel road coming from the main road was in bad condition.

Report Check-In

Road in really bad condition, visiting the park tomorrow...

Report Check-In

CLOSED ON MONDAYS!! OPEN TUESDAY TO SUNDAY 1100 TO 1800. Luckily we spotted this on route rather than when we got there.

Report Check-In

Closed for June and July! Apparently the park is closed every year for these two months. No sign saying it’s closed. Finally someone from inside walked by and we got the details. We were pretty disappointed but then we stood on top of our van and we could see about 40 king penguins. They were far away but with good binoculars we could see them and about 10 juveniles.

Report Check-In

We visited the parc on the 30 of april and they were open. The entrance says that reservations are required but we didnt need one. The parc is expensive (12000 CLP) but they had an enthousiast English speaking guide.

Report Check-In

Beautiful pinguins... They were around 40 with babies. The Park is a bit expensive but it will be an awesome memory :)

Report Check-In

I am one of the people that loved it! Yes...it was expensive, but it’s one of the few places to see these beautiful species, and the money goes to a good cause. Sometimes you just have to ask yourself “when else am I going to have this opportunity?” And, yes, you are also quite a ways away, but it’s how far all people should be away from ALL wildlife. Take this as a lesson for your future wildlife viewings. Respect the animals. They have large binoculars set up now, I went right at 11 so not many people were there so I could use one the whole time. I found that I could take close up videos and pictures with my phone through it. I attached some for example. A very special experience.

Report Check-In

Tentamos conhecer mas descobrimos que não funciona às segundas-feiras. Estrada de ripio com alguns trechos com muitas costelas. Na porta há a informação que tem de se reservar por internet para visita porque parque lota diariamente.

Report Check-In

Still 12000cP. Credit cards acceptet. Penguins are cute

Report Check-In

Totally enjoyed this place! Worth the 12,000 CLP to get in because if someone doesn't protect and respect this magnificent birds, people will do stupid things and they will leave. A big thank you to Parque Penguino Rey.

Report Check-In

approx. 25 penguins. Nice to see them, but worth the money? Chilenian people pay CLP 3'000 entrance fee. Foreigners pay CLP 12'000. My personal view, too much for what you get.

Report Check-In

opened. good place to see Pinguino Rey, the only place in south America. about 40 couples.
plan 45mn.
12 000 pesos per adult, free under 10.

Report Check-In

very very good place, beautiful pinguins very close, the have clean bathrooms and a souvenir part, they have binoculars for free next to the penguins. it's TRUE it's expensive, but worth it.

Report Check-In

Great place to see Pinguins. Even though it is a touristic place it was defiantly not crowded. We almost didn’t get in side because a few people where already inside the area. But after five minutes wait they let us in. I heard that reservation online is possible.

Report Check-In

The park is NOT Closed and everything is fine.

Report Check-In

beautiful king penguins.. 12000 pesos chileno..
Lots of info about them and the onas (indigenous to Tierra del fuego)
recommended..

Report Check-In

Although the place should be open the door is locked and no one other there, phone is not answered , I checked website before and there was no season restriction ... :-(

Report Check-In

It was worth my $20usd. Friendly staff! Saw lots of babies! Not overpriced at all. Bring a 300mm+ for your cam. 300mm was on the short sode. Binoculars available on site and bathroom.

Report Check-In

nice place although expensive for what it is. still worth it if you want to see king pinguïns. we got the briefing together with a tour group who arrive at the same time we did. took about 10mins
then started walking the trail. saw the pinguïns from about 30m.
they were walking around and going for a swim.
the rest of the walk nothing to see.

Report Check-In

Agree with deuxevades.com below. Great place, man on the gate was very friendly and helpful.

Report Check-In

We set up the tent in front of the coffee bus, to use it as a shelter. On time to visit pengouins next morning. But... some dog's poop around...

Report Check-In

Overpriced at 12.000 pesos per person.
But hey, it's the King penguin, and this is the only place where you can see them in the wild apart from Antarctica.
Open every day from 11.00 am to 18.00 (last admission 17.30). Closed on Mondays.

Report Check-In

AWESOME PLACE !
Yes, everyone can have a different opinion but we loved it.
We stayed almost 1 hour and a half. We were able to saw the pinguins at 15 or 20 meters from us. The barrier between us was a good wind protection but you can also use it as a tripod for your camera and it prevent people to bother the pinguinos. Also there are very good binoculars on site to get a better look of the pinguins. And you can use it to take pic with your phone.
At this time of year, we were able to see babies, subadults and adults. At the second mirador we were able to see some of them swimming. These guys are fast.

Advice : Come at the opening, 11 am. Since 1pm, tour bus from Punta Arenas arrive and there is a lot more people.

They do a very good conservation job.

Report Check-In

Yes overpriced but worth it if you've never seen King Penguins.

In my estimationPenguins about 30 meters away(not 50) and about 50 penguins there. If you have binoculars, you can observe the young birds being kept warm by parents.

Lady who runs it should send her résumé to become warden of the TDF prison.

Report Check-In

Card machine works again, quite expensive for what you see, but nice view on those rey pingüinos.

Report Check-In

The opening times are still 11-18 from tuesday till sunday. Only on munday it‘s closed. The last comment is false. We saw approx 50 penguins and they were not very active and quite far away. In our opinion the prize is too high for what they provide here but we were happy to see the king penguins anyway.

Report Check-In

Do not skip this place! Yes it’s 12,000k a person but totally worth it, in our opinion. Bring binoculars to see a lot more action.

Report Check-In

Card machine wasn’t working and wouldn’t accept US dollars or Argentinian Pesos. (Didn’t find anywhere to change money between Rio Grande and here). Also would only let me fill up one water bottle!

Report Check-In

Report Check-In

We visited before the Magellan penguins in "Cabo Virgenes" in Argentina. In comparison to them the penguins here where a little bit disappointing. Far away, less then 100 animals and not very active. If you have time check the other option in Argentina.

Report Check-In

Wonderful birds - definitely worth the visit. We paid in US dollars, 20 USD pp.

Report Check-In

great place where there very late because we thought it would be closed. but it was open 11-18 every day except monday. explanation of the ranger and then we got all the time to look! wind was inland so the wall was very handy. pinguïns were max 40m away so we were very lucky!

Report Check-In

Nice view on the Penguins. Good facilities and nice people working there. Price was 12000 CLP per person.

Report Check-In

Highly recommended. Penguins started coming here 2008, the private park has been established since 2011. Sounds like penguins are here a good portion of the year. The park uses the money solely for infrastructure and paying the employees who work for Global Penguin Society, estancia owner does not get any money. The employees speak English and are very knowledgeable, although signs are only in Spanish- ask questions!

Report Check-In

Cost 12,000 PP, children under 10 are free. When we were there we saw close to 100 King penguins. You get about 50 meters away from them, but with any decent zoom lens you will get great pictures. There are two viewing areas: one of the colony and one near the beach. Overall, a little expensive but worth it to see these amazing animals.

Report Check-In

Its not cheap, but here you also invest in research. Ask for "prismaticos" and enjoy.

Report Check-In

Don't make the mistake and pay in arg. Pesos. More expensive because of Exchange Rate. Pinguines behind a Wall, about 50 Meters away. In my opinion there are better places to see Pinguines and I would not go there again.

Report Check-In

opening hours: tuesday to sunday 11.00 am till 6.00 pm

Report Check-In

Just staying in front of the pinguinera

Report Check-In

we visited the place and saw around 65 pinguins. There is a ~1.50m high timber wall between visitors and pinguins and they are approx. 50m away, but it was o.k. The price was still 12000 per person. There is nothing els to see, and the rest is basic. toilets are open during the opening hours. The place opens at 11 am till 6 pm, no access any other time !! approx. 1 km up the road there is poss. where you can "camp" overnight.

Report Check-In

No more camping here. Camp 2km farther. Excellent small colony, well run private park. They can lend binoculars. 12000 per person. Open Tuesday to Sunday 11:00-18:00.

Report Check-In

This place is in wrong location - it is located at -53.46069, -69.30612

Report Check-In

very convenient if you want to visit the pinguins but also very windy

Report Check-In

Buen lugar, se recomienda llevar binoculares ya que están un poco lejos los pingüinos

Report Check-In

CLP 12.000 are certainly overpriced even though the whole thing calls itself a "park" and does its best to raise the profile e.g. by listing research efforts, by being a member of the Global Penguin Society, etc. It was probably the owner of the property who dressed like a park ranger and wore a GUARDAPARQUE badge. However, they do provide some information about the penguins, there is proper fencing and wind breaks an there are toilets. CLP 6.000 would be more appropriate given that a 12-month CONAF pass is 12.000 and that a lot of essential information about the penguins on display is missing. For the price they could at least provide good binoculars (we had our own). Nevertheless, if you can afford the fee then do visit: you will get some pretty exclusive views, especially in good weather. And do take a good zoom lens as the penguins are approx. 50m away.

Report Check-In

You can see the emperor penguins here for 12,000 pesos per person. These are the unique penguins that are larger ad have distinct orange and yellow markings on their heads. We also saw baby penguins here. Definitely worth it. If you camp here in the parking lot there isn't much wind cover.

Report Check-In

We were even allowed to sleep in their parking lot
