Fantastic spot? Really? All the options that are okay to level are quite close to the road, you can be seen and you hear the noise. The upper section in the bushes is hard to access and impossible to level. We left!

Absolutely fantastic campsite for the night, surrounded by the huge red mountains. Fresh mountain water provided us with nice refreshing start to our day. Make sure to drive a little up, following the path through the bushes, to have an even cleaner and more covered space from the main road.

Cyclists! look no further..as others have mentioned..its a great camping spot..plenty of sites. I camped next to the stream, I used the water after boiling. Wind was mild...I was able to cook behind some rocks close by... views are incredible , if the sky is clear then you will be in treat to watch a beautiful and starry night.

Great place to sleep after crossing the border. Beautiful area with an awesome canyon to hike up and explore in. Traffic noise not too bad. Amazing stars.

Great wildcamp next to Ruta 7. We spend a peaceful night and morning here. Traffic noise was not bad. There is a few options but we arrived late and camped next to the concrete slab.

We can highly recommend this spot. Very quiet, off the road, beautiful scenery and perfect if you want to do the pass the other day (or just coming from it).

Our No 1 so far on our trip. Private, dramatic scenery and easy to access with our 2WD camper. What more could you ask for.

This spot was one of our favorites of the entire trip! We spent two nights here, hiked through the gorgeous canyon alongside the stream, and believe it or not scored not one, but two cans of tuna that someone left behind! There was actually a lot of wind in this spot but it’s a little more protected than the other side of the highway. Overall it’s a great stop - if you have plenty of food then you can stay as long as you want without worrying about water. A park employee told us that this water needs to be filtered because it has a lot of minerals.

Great spot for spending a night or three. We spent just one, but can confirm it's very quiet and secluded, with almost no wind. We arrived late afternoon and there was a group of locals with a pickup truck fooling around, but they left before it got dark. Also, great hikes both into the canyon up North (but beware of flash floods), and on to the Tambillitos Inca Ruins[1] right on the other side of the road (look for informative sign) and, further on, some TransAndine Railway ruins[2].

If you are on a larger rig, or would rather stay closer to the road, there's a couple spots by the dirty access road at and around -32.750639, -69.584809, or you can camp on that dirt road itself as we did, because there is no traffic (except for another iOverlander couple who drove through a few hours after we arrived, no one went by during our stay).

Beware that the bridge mentioned in an earlier check-in is now starting to fall apart, see pictures. I would not cross it with any vehicle.

Really cool spot. We went over the bridge for extra wind protection. Nice and completely private

Good camp spot by the highway. The river water is clean but very cold. I didn't understand the "box" thing and didn't see it I guess...firepits are still there

On the way Uspallata - Chili, you ll see a small path on your right with a blue sign just after (just before the ruins which is on the left), go up and you ll see two "box" with fire pit. Prefect. And running water from the river. You can hear the cars/trucks but it's OK. Amazing place with stunning colors mountains.

Nice spot. Must be used frequently because of fire places and Little park "boxes". Quiet at Night, nice view. Hidden from the road. You can hear traffic but at Night it's quiet.

Great little spot well off the road and out of sight next to a stream. Much more wind sheltered and out of view than the antenna spot nearby.
