We stayed here last year for free, but this beach has now been developed with about 5-6 vacation homes and a “private road” sign leading to it. We did not inquire via email as one camper had mentioned, so no clue if you can actually stay with permission from the land owners. Instead, we stayed at the paid campsite next door, and had a fine time.

This entire beach is owned by the Orozco family. If you want to stay here you will need to email them at [email protected] to get permission. They charged us a reasonable fee to stay and it was worth every peso! Semi sandy beach, beautiful views, friendly people and even a small restaurant nearby

Take to road to la palma and turn left before the gate! Nice place!! Free, no people came to charge us! Nice sunset

perfect stop, right on the beach with no one nearby but people around so you feel safe. beautiful sunset! you can take a hot shower next door at La Poma if needed for $25 pesos.

stayed here two nights. Nice quiet place. couple of Dutch and other overlanders already here. To get here take La Poma Campo sign. As you get closer to the gate, take the gravel road leading to the right. Big long Beach at your disposal.
If you feel like eating out, just walk to La Poma restaurant. can buy pop and other small supplies at the shop too.

This was a great little beach. When we rolled in there was nobody else there and it felt a bit eerie. On the third day we were joined by a few other campers. To get there, watch the road for the La Poma sign. Then continue on the road to the right when you get to the beach. Watch out for rebar sticking up in the rocks. They were marked with orange tape when we visited. Nice snorkel spot at the far right of the beach near the rocks. Lots of tropical fish.

The guy before us got definitely ripped of! There is no fee! The guy from the Campground told us to go there, because its free.. Its nice but there are millions of flies currently..

No longer free. $250p/night with no toilet or trash. If you’re not in a bind, keep driving. Barely anywhere to park due to the houses & high tides. We wont be coming back here.

Beautiful open beach and free camping to the right if the homes and restaurant.

Beautiful open beach. No hassles, free. Restaurant nearby. Pick up some trash before leaving as your payment. Stay on hard pack beach.

NOTE: sand can get VERY soft seemingly out of nowhere, be very careful.

Stayed here one night, about 1/3 the way down runway, next to trash barrel. Drive in was fine. Incredible sunset. Got windy and chilly at night.

Next morning, I put front wheel drive van in reverse and after about 2m, I lose traction and am starting to sink.

I get out, air down, pull recovery boards, and shovel and try to get back to the relative hardpack of airstrip about 5m away. Over next two hours, I dig a pit with my van and shovel and truly got stuck. I have experience driving offroad in Baja and I still was unable to get out by myself.

Luckily, ran into a very friendly expat who barely got us out after shoveling for 30 min then using his awd truck in low, my strap connected to his strap, my boards, and both of us flooring it.

After he got me out, he laughed and said this happens all the time. He said that he did the panamerican highway on a bike 20 years ago and he wanted to repay the kindness he recived when he was doing it.

However, we are very lucky he was in town.

If you stay here, remember just because you got in, does NOT mean you can get out. There are very deep unstable sections of sand that appear out of nowhere. Sometimes driving towards the beach and looping back is your best bet vs reversing back to runway.

Perfect spot for the night, exactly as described. Nobody else in the clean nice sandy and pebbled beach. The access road is easy to find thanks to the La Poma multicolored sign but drive slow as it’s quite the washboard. Beach parking is on hard mix of sand and big pebbles. We parked near the old empty drum in which we were able to burn our garbage and the few trash items found on the beach with some small drift wood. The restaurant nearby seemed open although we did not go.

Great open spot for camping
if you want to get close to the beach better have 4wd

Free camping. Drive South past the houses and find a spot on the hard-pack. No facilities, but hey! On the beach!

Report Check-In

Head down towards beach, turn left at last row of houses. Past houses to open beach. Drive thru the airport runway towards houses to the north. Park prior to homes on good hard pack. Didn't go further but music and pitfires at homes and trailers north of us. No one here. Great sunset. No one came by. Winds howled at 1am though.

Came in late after Alfonsinas/Gorganza was closed at the main road. We met the proprietor who said we could pitch a tent pretty much anywhere, we opted not to camp on the beach due to the wind, he let us pitch our tent in front of the old-now closed-restaurant for free. Was perfect and completely sheltered from the wind. Was able to use the toilets also. Nice guys. Hotel is open at $40USD per room.
