Description

This place is a lodge and restaurant run by a community to generate and income, they have different projects and teach the locals to grow their own organic food. We stayed in a triple room for $20, you can also camp for $5 or use the dormitory for $6. There is compost toilets and bucket showers for camping, rooms have ensuite western toilets with a hot shower. The restaurant has great vegetarian, african and continental options. It was amazing to wake up and see all the locals at work around the Community Centre, everyone was really nice!

One car with roof tent, we stayed one night on the way from Lusaka to the Moz border. We camped on the parking, next to the road with heavy traffic and the restaurant. The ablution block only had cold water and was not inviting at all. When we woke up the staff insisted on taking us to "the boss", a white lady, who told us this community was the only place to show "the real Africa" (what does she even mean?), and assumed we were "not interested in people" because we only stayed for a quick one-night stopover. I'd rather recommend to stay for a lunch break than to camp there, if you want to support the community.

Very run down rooms that were not inviting at all (smelled of mold and very damp, too) and expensive compared to what you’d get. No water was coming from the chalet’s taps, either. We ended up camping at the parking lot and used the common ablutions (only cold water shower). Paid 100k/pp. They first asked for 150k, but that’d be way too much. Go only if you arrive very late from the Chanida border (like we did).

Very basic, Trucks can park only next to the restaurant without any facilities, no electricity, no water but very welcome. 5$ ppn for camping. I didn't make any changes in the facilities list, but almost any category is No.

A bit run down and needs some upkeep, but wouldn't want to stay anywhere else in town for a one nighter. Also a good stop to or from the Chanida border post. One of the rooms adjacent to the restaurant/eating area was ZMK240 double room including mosquito net. Dinner was really worth it including cold drinks!

Good stopover on you're way to Lusaka, Malawi or South Luangwa. They where very happy with us as guest because they did not have many comming during Corona times...Good to support the local people here! They also have a craft shop where they sell self-made souvenirs.

A wonderful place to spend the night. staff are so welcoming and friendly. Great resturant with lots of vegetarian options. Room was 220 for 2 of us. Hot shower, comfortable bed with a mosquito net. Spend your money here to benefit the community 😁

Offered a room as they didn’t have camping ablution block. We took room 5. The bed was amazing, but not bad. Good room and warm showers. We also ate in the restaurant and really enjoyed the food.

We had high expectations arriving here but we didn’t feel comfortable with the spot to camp being next to the road, loud music and too many roosters for us tonight. Friendly enough and cheap at kw50 but it didn’t feel right to us so we moved on.

This is wonderful place with great heart and great cause!
You should stay here and forget about how much it is what and what you get for your money, how good taste and is water hot or cold! Don’t forget to are in Africa and if you want to make difference and help local communities this is place to stay! Open your heart and wallet, enjoy your stay in the wonderful environment and absorb smiles and good vibe this place have! Before you leave visit a schools for 2/3 and 4/5 say hi to kids and carry on with your travels! You won’t regret, rooms nor food nor positive energy you will leave this place with! And leave some dollars here as they really do much more with it than us, beer is cold and food is awesome!
One love!

Very friendly staff that do everything they can to make your stay pleasant. We camped here, but got a key of a room to use the bathroom. And of course they do a lot of good work that you can support by staying there.

Report Check-In

Nice community. Camping was not advised due to ablutions being terrible. Same price for a room.

Stopped for lunch. It was great. Not the cheapest place in town but I think it’s good value.

Stop here if you want to support this amazing local comunity, all the money from us, goes to help local people, they have an amazing project here runing during last 20 years. Good amenities and fantastic people, lots of shy children around as also the give school to children. If you prefer to suport locals instead of rich people from lodges, came here, restaurant with very cheap and good food. They gave me a room for the price of camping, as they had vacant rooms. It has been one of the best NGO I have visited on my trip.
