place has turned into a nightclub. we stayed at kukutana instead which was one of the best campsites of our trip

Report Check-In

It doesn’t seem to be run by the same people anymore, no wifi or bar available, quite a bit of music in the evening. The view from the campsite is good but in general a campsite with loads of potential but not the best. The manager helped us with a SIM card and to find Money changers in the city.

Report Check-In

As mentioned before, very nice location but not much more than that.
Very windy during the day, but this is refreshing, as Tete is quite hot even in winter. Less wind at night (hence the mosquitoes).
We paid 600 ppn. There was no running water for the sink and showers. Only the tap in the garden had running water, so we filled up a bucket for the shower. They did not make an effort. They put up trash bins but then they dump the garbage directly down the slope to the river.
The place is not far away from the main road, so we walked there to get some supplies. Even the Spar shopping mall is in walking distance, if you are not too lazy. Also, there is a bar and grocery next door to get a beer.

Report Check-In

As described below, its a really beautiful location, however facilities are pretty poor for the price. The toilet bowl is inhabited by a family of frogs, and the shower is cold and pressure barely enough to get wet. The swimming pool is swampy. But the staff were friendly and helpful and made us welcome when arriving after dark. 600M per person, kids were free.

Report Check-In

Beautiful view over the Zambezi, and as previously mention sunset is beautiful.
Unfortunately for us the owner, Willie, was not there. We were let in by a younger woman who said someone would be here later, other than the security (who did stay overnight), we did not see anyone. The water to the outside toilets was turned off which we only discovered after us, and there were no working showers. Luckily there was a toilet in one of the indoor rooms that we could use. The pool was very green so we did not venture in.
we paid 600mets for 2pppn and a rrt, we stayed one night

Report Check-In

We stayed here one night. 600 mtc pppn. nice view over the river. nevertheless everything was a bit run down and dirty - especially the ablutions.

Report Check-In

Perfect place for a stop over in Tete. Lovely garden with views over the river. hosts were very accommodating and even found us a room when a storm kicked up and our tent wasn't feasible.

Report Check-In

Still open and still absolutely lovely and kept care of. Ablutions still clean and basic but flushing toilet and showers with good pressure. Cold, however, but we did not ask for warm water. As described, the river front location comes with a great view but also with an interesting array of sounds;-) You can party with some neighbours on a Monday afternoon, then hum with the traffic on the other bank of the river till your dinner is done, enjoy a relatively silent night in which you should listen for the frogs and hippos, and then start your day quite early with the muezzin's song.
Don't look anywhere else, this is the spot to camp in Tete.
600pppn.

150ZAR pppn, as others said, Willie is a great host, the spot is great with awesome views, friendly dog will keep you company. Ablutions modest and run out of warm water (luckily on a hot night). On Sat night you will hear the sounds if town. Definitely recommend staying there while in Tete.

Report Check-In

Campsite was in fact Willies garden on the banks of the Zambezi. Ablutions clean but basic. What the campsite lacked, Willie made up for with his friendly nature!

Report Check-In

Nice campsite on banks of Zambesi river. Perfect overnight. Ablutions not great, but ok. Beautiful sunset.

Report Check-In

Great little campsite - get there for the sunset. It’s a bit nosier but great to have the sounds of the city! The view and location are worth the nights stay before or after the border crossing. Great owner and we paid 600 my per person

Great shady campsite if you crossing the border to or from Malawi. Green grass, clean ablutions with hot water and view over the Zambezi. Enjoyed a fun filled evening with Willie, Theo and Gerard but you must ask Theo to make his pap with tomato sauce it was delicious. 600Mt pppn camping plus tip for staff.

Report Check-In

Lovely spot on the river. Good ablutions, very clean. Thatched under cover area provided. Electricity available under the thatch and in the ablutions, but not at pitches.
As you might expect when camping in a bustling town, it is not quiet or peaceful - take earplugs! Lots of town noise, music, and many barking dogs next door.
Owner will take Rand or US$ as well as Meticals. We paid ZAR240 for two people and one vehicle, one night.

Report Check-In

Nice campsite with friendly owner. Great braai, nice little pool to cool down and a great view over the Zambezi and it’s sunset.
