Unusual set up. I arrived at about 3pm on a quiet Sunday on 3rd March 2024. There a little booth so I stopped. I enquired about camping in my self contained camper, to be told that it would be UY1160 for the first night, and then UY460 for the second! That's pretty much $30 and then $13. So I was a little taken by surprise
I know it's not the attendants fault, but did make it clear that out of season, which I assumed this now is, I believed it would be free from other comments. I mentioned the other camp site and said that it's read that that was free. She said that that's only "bad people" who don't pay. So I asked if I found walk around for a look. It's nothing out of this world, but the bathrooms seemed clean, and the showers were hot.
When I went back I mentioned that there must be a lot of people who come to the beach just for the day and asked how much that was. She said that the beach is public, so it doesn't cost anything and that you can use the bathrooms and showers for free. So I said that theoretically I can just park outside the camping area, not connected to water, or electricity, and away from the bathrooms at night, and it wouldn't cost anything, but I can come in in the morning again to use the bathrooms and showers the next day and it's free. She shrugged her shoulders and said yes. So for now I'm parked in the parking area in front of the naval office and I'll see what happens tonight. If someone comes for payment I'll just drive outside the area, and then come back in, tomorrow. I might even park up on the peninsula between the camp grounds tomorrow. I took a walk that way and it is very nice.

Campground still officially closed. It’s possible to camp there anyway. Water taps at the BBQ work

Fantastic campground near the lake and town of San Gregorio de Polanco. We stayed here in the off-season, and were allowed to camp, use parillas, and have 24/7 access to the bathrooms located at the end of the divided street (bathrooms within the campground were closed). Wi-Fi was of good quality, relatively speaking, and the campground and toilets were very clean. Every person we spoke to was welcoming and friendly.

We rode the "trails" to the west of the campground, which weave through a grove of Eucalyptus, and enjoyed quite a few different birds in the nearby lake. Amazing sunsets, great murals, best camp spot we have seen in Uruguay.

Municipal camping, a bit old but lots of space, barbecue spot, water. We were there in low season so the bathroom and shower weren’t opened. It was free, very quiet. Great spot, watching the horses and cows or walking around. We stayed 3 nights and were pretty alone.

there are two campgrounds here. one with facilities where this point is and another one which is officially closed and doesn't provide anything but imho is at the much nicer location. to get there, just follow the road out to the peninsula. in OSM the second camping is simply called "Camping 2".
the mosquitos however are relentless and there are unbelievably many!

superb setting. Out of season, so free. Toilets are clean but a bit ruined. Showers are closed. Very quiet. Amazing to see all the birds in the evening and in the early morning.

Report Check-In

Very nice place but lots of mosquitoes, we camped there 2 nights to recover from the road from Lascano.

We stayed here for one night. It was free to camp here. There are toilets and showers, they are not in a good condition, but it’s free. You can refill your water tanks here as well. Slow WiFi free as well. Busy during the day, quiet at night, plenty of shadow.

No verão não recomendamos, lugar cheio, música alta o tempo todo! Ducha fria e com pouca água.

Report Check-In

Big campsite with parillas, electricity and big sites. 120 pesos per tent and 70 pesos per adult for classic sites, a bit more for covered one. Area busy during the day but quiet at night. Great beach.

Arrived today and wanted to stay a night or two, they wanted 330 pessos for each of us (3) 200 pessos for our Disco with roof tent and 25 pessos for a shower mark...we told them politely to keep their empty camp site for themselves and we left..At the Market we talked to some locals who told us to drive through to the second camp site, this is not officially in use any more but it's free!! We went, we saw, we stayed!!! if your self sufficient for a few days..great!!! toilets are ok..showers ok...and they have some little huts with tables and running water...for us good as we arrived in the middle of another Thunderstorm !!!😆

Fairly busy but not crowded, a nice campground. We were charged $260 for one night, two people and a tent (you can enter without payment, but someone comes around to check/take payment). Lots of shade, tables and BBQ stations with some sites also having a sink with running water. The toilets I used were fairly clean and nice with working showers, apparently the women's aren't so pleasant (however have working, warm showers).

Report Check-In

Report Check-In

Beautiful spot to camp as We were there in the off season. The bathrooms are really run down and the showers looked unusable. There are a few places in town you could negotiate a shower for a small fee if needed.

Report Check-In

Great camp spot right next to the lake!!

Report Check-In

Nice campground on a peninsula in the lake. Beaches on both sides. Tables, bbq pits, etc...
