This place is in an amazing location and has so much potential ! Moses is a very nice kid (20 years old) how will try to make you feel as comfy as you could. We swam in the river and it was very refreshing as it gets hot in the afternoon.
The pit toilet was clean but not very well designed. Wood around to make a fire.

In the other side, we arrived the day they were having a big party (100 people) at the river. They were quite away from the camp but still loud music until 6pm and everyone was gone by 7pm so not too bad. A few kids came to stare at us and play in the river.
Lot of bugs in the evening.
At 7am we got woken up by some guys making bricks in the property, banging at stuff and making a lot of smoke with their fires (we asked Moses and it should be in the purpose of building more commodities).
Moses, for some unknown reason, was waiting for us at 7h30am litteraly 2 metres away from our door and stared at us the whole time while we were packing up. He is nice but its a bit intrusive, especially first thing in the morning... His English is not amazing so we could not exchange properly with him... Pity.
We would have stayed one more day if only we had more privacy.

We agreed on 10k for 2 people and 1 night, we think its a good price for what we got.
In the futur, if they invest a bit more of their time and money into this place to make it nice enough, it would be a great place to relax. For now, it feels more like a first draw but it seems like they are working on it.

Report Check-In

This is really a lovely place, some people complained about not being worth paying 10,000 pp and to be honest for what you get it may be a bit pricey. Basic toilets and nothing else than a grass patch. Hover we stayed for one night and spoke with the owner, we told him that it could be beneficial to improve the campsite and offer more services. They will start charging 10,000 TZS per vehicle ( Landcruiser or similar) and 15,000TZS for bigger rigs xday. The price is absolutely worth it, the outset is of clean land next to the river, very peaceful, we slept wonderfully and is very safe. They would like to improve the campsite, hence have lowered the prices to get more people visiting. They are trying to raise some money to build more facilities, so if you enjoy your stay, it will be nice to leave a small tip for the benefit of the comunity! Don't miss a stop here!

Report Check-In

It is a relatively large grassy area with some trees beside a river and with nice view. Quiet area. One abolution block consisting of 2 long drop toilets which i think are raised squat toilets from their architecture. Basically the campsite is for those who bring their own showers etc or go into the river (we were told no crocodiles and no hippos due to it being rocky). Paid 10000tsh pppn.

Report Check-In

Great location. However, price might not be worth it. Ablutions non excisting. Bring shovel to make your own. Owner friendly but wants 15k Tsh pppn.... Willing to coml
e down to 10k Tsh pppn but still too high for what you get in my humble opinion. Give it a try for yourself...

Report Check-In

Moses and Mathew are really nice people!!!!
Maybe the most honest we knew in Tanzania.
Friendly and helpfull.
The place is wonderfull.
One of our top 3 in Tanzania.
Mathew came with us to the headquarters of Kitulo NP in our truck and helped us to get a good discount.
Not to be missed!!!

Report Check-In

Everything as described.
Beautiful tranquil spot in the middle of nature.
Great place to escape the TanZam-Highway.
Also a good place for birdwatching.
Patchy 4G Vodacom signal at the river.

Report Check-In

Moses is still here. Beautiful spot. Final road down is a little steep and uneven but no real issue for bicycling.

Report Check-In

Amazing spot as was described, not any cell phone signal. Same as described for big rigs, narrow road but possible.

Report Check-In

Excellent campsite between Mbeya and Dar Es Salaam. Quite and peaceful. Moses make a big fire and was there all night to keep an guard. Local run campsite. There are no facilities around (except pit toilet) but the scenery is beautiful and you don’t hear the road. Recommended!

Report Check-In

We found this camping by casualty as we were looking for a wild camping spot. We met Moses who run the campsite. i wanted to make us pay 20.000 TSH for the night and we reduced it to 10.000. There is not much facilities (two shacks for bathroom) but the place along the river is really nice and Moses is kind. He made a nice fire for us! cool place to stay

Report Check-In

Very quiet and lovely campsite by the river. There are no facilities (only basic toilets) but it’s a very nice stop. Moses was very friendly and made a big fire for us. It’s safe and very peaceful ! 10,000 pppn (our kids did not pay)

Very beautiful unspoiled community-run site on the Ruaha river. Caretaker Moses is very friendly and ready to help you start a fire and provide security. You can reach him at 0768881992.

Really nice place at the river. No reception, no facilities. They collect wood for you, fishermen came by so I had fresh fish. Paid TSH 15.000. They will send a guard at night.

Report Check-In

Very nice riverside camp spot. Long drop toilets, but not that inviting.

10,000TSH pppn. Big Rig friendly, but narrow track with bushes. Very quiet and with guard included in price. Nice stop.

Report Check-In

Nice place if you like hiking. A bit further upstream there is a big pool for swimming ... beautiful.

Report Check-In

A really nice and well maintained campground. Big, leveled with a nice river. The access road is a bit narrow and steep, but not a real problem even for big rigs.

Report Check-In

Lovely quiet spot on the river where you can even swim. Moses and his dad who run the camp came straight away to organize firewood for us. The pit toilets are very clean and well maintained. A great place to support the local community. Highly recommend if you don’t mind camping with few facilities.

Report Check-In

lovely place near Ruaha river. we arrived at night, passed the stop at the village saying we were going to the campsite. 15 min later the 2 brothers were there to great is and make bonfire. they came back in the morning and we had a nice chat. good access road. 10 000Tzs pp.

Report Check-In

Campsite is 3km from main road and it's managed by two brothers (Matthew and Moses). Great stopover on our way from Malawi to Dar. Clean long drop toilets with seats and they are investing money to build a shower. Beautiful view of the mountains and lots of space to pitch tents on the grass. You can bath in the river, no crocos or hippos in the area. No electricity or network connection neither. Felt safe and had a pleasant night! Price is 10,000 TZS pppn and firewood is provided.

Report Check-In

Really nice and calm campsite! The two brothers Moses and Matthew are so nice and try to make their business with their first own campsite. 20.000 for two people. Nice chat with Matthew (the older brother). Recommended to come to suport these people!!!!

Report Check-In

Really Nice grassy field right next to river, fast flowing river in March. We paid 20k for two adults, kids free. Toilets were clean. Recommended.

Report Check-In

Amazing camp ground hidden away next to the river, which seemed more like a wild camp spot. The little village you pass through was filled with kind people and there is a post with a string across the road where you have to stop but they only asked if we were headed to the campsite and when we said yes we got a huge smile and a kind welcome.

Within 10 min of getting down to the campsite Moses came to welcome us and helped us find dry firewood. He is a very kind young man who chatted with us while we were preparing dinner. In the morning Moses and his brother came by around 8 am to check in on us and asked if we could sign their guest book.

We asked if it was ok to swim in the river and were given the ok. The water was refreshing and a great way to start the morning.

I highly recommend staying here if you are in the area. We would have loved to stay another day if we had the time.

With regards to the bathroom, we never were shown them so just treated it like we were wold camping, which didn't bother us one bit.

We paid 10,000 for the two of us and our car, which we thought was worth it simply for the location.

Report Check-In

A very nice spot right on a beautiful river and very quiet. Cost has doubled to 20 thousand for two people per night. Matthew came down just after we arrived and cleaned the drop toilet and collected fire wood for us. Then he insisted on lighting our fire for us. He was obviously in need of friends because he didn’t want to leave!

Report Check-In

Very peaceful flat campsite by the river good for big rigs aswell. Long drop toilets ,plenty of free firewood and a clean flowing river, absolutely quiet

Local security guard will be around we paid 10,000 shilling for two for one night ,however if there was a bush shower it would be worth more money , see Matthew for local knowledge and info

Report Check-In

What a nice place to camp! Clear river, trees around. Toilet ok. Payed 5000ppn. Perfect spot to relax. Absolutly alone.

Report Check-In

Did not stay here for the following reasons:
Drop toilets dirty and covered in spiderwebs and gecko droppings.
Grass fairly tall and no visible fire pit area

We were stopped by the camp manager on our way out of the village wanting to know why we weren’t going to stay. We told him he needs to have cleaner toilets.

In a beautiful location. Had the drop toilets not been so scary, we certainly would have stayed.

Report Check-In

As described by everyone else. 10000 TSH for 2 for a night. firewood provided. Idyllic.

Report Check-In

Perfect, huge campground and we were absolutely alone. So there was not even a fee to be paid.
