Description

This is a great place to camp with a dirt road in good shape. the dinosaur statues are right around the corner. Fabulous desert vistas, sunsets, and sunrises. you can even go further out for more privacy, although these spots are nicely spaced. It's a little bit hard to find level as the spots are bumpy. Usable T-Mobile service, but my Verizon phone didn't do as well.

Dirt road with various pullouts. *Please use existing pullouts and don't create more due to local issues with campers and also there is lots of deep sand that only looks solid*

Private property, camping was previously allowed by sculpture artist/owner (although he died a few years ago, and there have been some locals unhappy with the campers here over the past two years).

peaceful first night's sleep, very soft sand, careful to stay on the road.

Followed the dirt road down until we found an empty existing pullout. There were about 6 other vehicles on road. Spaced out enough there was plenty of privacy. Great sunset and sunrise views. Love the privacy and free nature boondocking!

some other campers, every on a small pull out on a sandy street, is not clear if allowed or not, but the place is very very nice with perfect views and walking distance from the sculptures south side

I'm just checking in to hopefully add a photo!

According to long-term camper guy I met, there are some problems with the private property. There was some disagreement a year or two ago with locals who want the sculpture area to be nice and tourist-friendly, not full of a bunch of campers.

It's important to camp on the pullouts that are already there and not create more. Also, if you continue up the road there's a right turn into the state park, where it's not private property and is fine to boondock. That's ultimately where I ended up camping.

Lots of space. Cool experience among the sculptures. Be respectful of the property.

Keep driving past the iOverlander spot and toward the dinos in the distance *south* for more options than just the more popular pull-offs.

Yes. Incredible. To see a bit of one man's passion,. We're camped beside a T Rex with 5 Velociraptors closing in. NPR at 92.9.

Back again! Great handy spot. Beautiful mountain view and the lights of borrego springs at night. Where else do you have cool camping with dinosaurs?!

Report Check-In

Easy 2wd access on sandy road. This one gives you a view of the lights of borrego springs. Lots of pull ins along road, quite popular. No facilities but only ten minutes from carlees in Borrego Springs and some good burgers and margueritas!

best boondocking so far!! this location is beautiful, nature's gardens are everywhere and amazing views of mountains and rainbows

Report Check-In

Galetta Meadows in Borrego Springs is a large private sculpture estate open to the public for hiking and camping. Please be respectful and leave only footprints. We owe this treasure to Dennis Avery, philanthropist and heir to the Avery Label company. Excellent access on hard packed sand roads with pull-outs that are close to level.

Report Check-In

Was pretty busy on the main dirt road so we had to follow the road to the right, at the end, to find additional pullouts. The road continues into the park, but there are tons of places to camp along the road. Slow TMobile service.

Report Check-In

Camping along a dirt road south of Borrego Springs Road near the sculptures from Ricardo Breceda surrounded by lots of cacti. Nice view across the Borrego Desert. Absolutely quiet.

Report Check-In

Gorgeous views of the mountains and easy( as it can be) access to Dinosaur area of sculptures. There were people camping as far as the eye could see i never made it to the end of the road but pull offs everywhere

Report Check-In

This place is at the foot of a mountain giving you plenty of morning sunshine with early sunsets. Caution should be taken to ensure hard packed sand before pulling of road or you will be stuck. The road is also busy.

Report Check-In

gravel road with various pullouts. Private property, camping allowed by sculpture artist/owner (although he died a few years ago, according to ranger). More people were camping here late november.
