Something not right?

Description

A pretty nice spot: Some level patches of grass right between a river crossing and a bridge. Some trees. Can also park on gravel (access road to bridge which is only used during high water). Quiet, lots of trash and gun shells, free.
Perfect for tents, no problems for big rigs (can turn around right after the river). Easy access on good gravel about 1/2 mile from highway.

very nice small place, very quiet and no traffic. we had a very quiet night.

Report Check-In

This was a great little stop on the side. Quiet, barely any cars. No issues!

Report Check-In

We pulled in right before the bridge and tucked ourselves in front of the old bridge. Sunset was spectacular and not a single car passed all night. Dogs loved it although there were lots of thorns and it was such a perfect place to stay for a night.

Report Check-In

Rolled up after dark and stayed just off the gravel path next to the fence. Water is low but not stinky, there’s trash but no carcasses, and construction seems complete as well. Good tree cover and flat prairie make for great overnight temperatures, and it’s so quiet! There is plenty of room for several types of vehicles at the same time.

update: cops came to “check up” on me around 10AM. Friendly enough but felt extra unwelcome.

nice place to get off the road for the night. it's not a destination. we picked up 4 airwave TV channels from San Angelo.

Perfect little spot to sleep for the night! There really isn’t much else in the area. It’s far enough from the highway that you can just faintly hear cars. There was one other vehicle parked here when we arrived. We drove over the “new” bridge and parked on the other side. Ground was mostly level and we were tucked just enough away. I did hear some cara driving by during the night but it wasn’t too bad. I have ATT and had about 2 bars of LTE that kinda faded in and out. My husband had TMobile and was able to stream Thursday night football haha (first photo is the view from where we parked)

Great spot to camp for the night. Lots of native flora and very quite.

Super quiet. Texas drought. The water crossing stunk . A few mosquitos. Lucky there was a slight breeze. Not one car drove by all night. I probably won’t stay here again , till winter . Found ticks on my dawg and me . Cows and turkey noises most of the night . If it’s hot, bring bug net and repellent

Stayed here one night no problem. Quiet at night, no cars drove by. Far enough from the freeway you can’t really here it. River was super low with stagnant mossy gross water. Also there were several animal carcasses off the side of the road.

I’m not sure how Fabian found this place but it was super nice—thank you! Far enough from the highway that it was quiet but close to town. We parked our van on the dirt loop between some trees. The old bridge is now fenced off, so you can’t drive on it or through it. Looked like a dumping ground for hunters, but good for a night. FREE in TX!

Report Check-In

Place is as described below, but construction is no longer here. We were alone here on a Saturday night. We have AT&T and are able to get LTE, but it’s slow. Can hear the highway traffic in the distance, but it is not bothersome. Very grateful for someone to have posted this, as there are few posted locations in this part of TX this quiet.

Nice secluded spot. We stayed for two nights and were the only ones there. Verizon reception was ok. Road construction is no longer going on since the bridge is complete!

Report Check-In

Not the most secluded spot but certainly better than a parking lot (especially for a roof top tent). Parked on the grass, in between the bridge on the right and the road work on the left. Working trucks drove by around 730a.

Report Check-In

There is Road work now. We stayed the Night at the Edge of the Road and left early Morning. Quiet at Night.

Report Check-In

had a great night's sleep here. no one around, so the pup was free to explore. we thought our bus was a bit too heavy for the bridge, but we had no problems backing up to turn around.

Report Check-In

Decent spot, quiet and somewhat remote. Careful not to park right on the road to the bridge if people might want to use it.

Report Check-In

This place wasn't the most spectacular place we've stayed, but we'd like to give a huge shout out and kudos to Fabian Pickel for posting this place. It's nearly impossible to find a nice, secluded and quiet spot in Texas to stop for the night. With all the fenced in private property and no trespassing signs, we thought we were doomed to sleep at Rest Stops all the way to Louisiana. Thanks to all the people like Fabian who brave the road less travelled. You're life savers, or at least sleep preservers.
