Next to main beach parking lot (mission beach)
Possible to park until 8am on Monday to Friday
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
So this is legit like residential parking and it felt very wrong parking here, however no one bothered us and it was quiet. Stayed in the tallest and longest sprinter van and I stuck out over the parking spots a hood 3-4ft with my back hanging over the grass. So it’s not big rig friendly, however me and one other van parked this way and had no problems. You have to move over to the park parking lot at 8 am for sweeping though. Nearby park is closed from 2-4am but we just moved over there at 7:30 and stayed the rest of the day.
Report Check-Incops writing down license plate numbers at night, felt a little sketched out even though we were being as stealth as possible. several campervans in the lot at the same time. all a recipe for this spot getting shut down.
please stay stealth and move along quickly when you're in this place. let's keep it open and available!
Report Check-InYes, you can stay a night or two but you must move out before 8am in the morning from Monday to Thursday. Washrooms are on the walkway at the beach and in the park.
Report Check-InGreat spot to stay for a night. Ample parking (I stayed on a Wednesday night), hardly any noise (just a little road noise, but it stayed quiet after 10pm), and just enough Verizon service. There’s lighting, so I felt safe, but it wasn’t so bright that it peeked through my maxxair fan to make it hard to sleep. I parked around 8:30pm and there was one skoolie and a couple sprinter vans. Just make sure you leave by 8am (no parking between 8-10am)
Report Check-InStayed here for 6 nights while I was in San Diego! No disturbances but lots of homeless people going through the trash late at night/early morning. Just make sure to move by 8am Mon-Thurs!
Report Check-InUnfortunately, I think the good times for this spot are rapidly approaching the end. But if we’re all a bit more intelligent about how we use it, maybe not. Really not trying to be a downer, but some people seem to misunderstand the situation.
Make no mistake, the usual San Diego prohibitions on vehicle habitation apply to this spot. And there is a MAJOR police presence in the area. They have likely turned a blind eye to this tiny little spot not out of the love in their heart, but because there are a ton of vacation rentals right here and it’s very difficult to distinguish between parked rigs using the rentals and ones with people inside.
The more people hang out here with doors open, making noise, or otherwise being obvious about vehicle habitation, the more likely residents and police will notice, leading to many issues.
So if you use it, try to be smart. Come in late, don’t be obvious about being in your rig, and leave early, even on the days when morning parking is allowed. Staying many days in a row is a surefire way to attract negative attention, and it’s even worse if you notice others doing the same. That puts the spot on enforcement radar quicker than anything else.
There are plenty of nearby places to go during the day or after you park to enjoy the area. Please don’t do it from your overnight parking spot unless you want to ruin it for everyone.
Report Check-InLove this location. Seems impossible to find a free spot these days but on the weekend we stayed parked all day and night without issue. Street sweeping Mon-Fri so stayed across the street (still on San Fernandino) where you’re good except Tuesdays and Fridays.
Report Check-InWe stayed here 3 nights. Very nice. On the beach on the boarwalk. A little noisy, also when the gym nearby put the music a 5am super loud. But overall a very nice place to stay. Not for big rigs though.
Report Check-Inquiet street parking. no disturbances at all but we slept here on a Wednesday so maybe that's why it was so quiet. no parking M-Thu 0800 for street cleaning
Report Check-InSpent one good night here on a Sunday. Way quieter than I expected. The parking in the beginning of this dead end road are leveled. From middle to the end of it, are a bit tilted, but not bad.
I guess noise is a gamble… not only for being a public beach, but also the houses at this street are vacation rentals.
Other 3 vans also spent the night here, and pulled to the main parking during the day.
Ok-Street-Parking, not very quite, people till late on the streets (which is fun until aeound 11pm...), streetcleaning very noisy, even when its just at the other streets, and during the whole night a lot of noise. Wouldn‘t stay there for longer.
Report Check-InAnother amazing location! No signs, nobody bothered us, slept in until 9 and went to watch the surfers! Restrooms were closed near us and the nearest was a few blocks away...
Report Check-InStayed a few nights no problems in my van, felt safe. Lots of RVs in second main parking lot but there are "No overnight" signs although doesn't seem like they have issues. Showers are outside open faced.
Report Check-InGood Spot, no trouble. Close to beach with firepits, and toilets and cold shower!
Report Check-Ingreat place. stayed there for about a week. toilets, showers, tables, beach, a park with palm trees, more than you could ask for.
add: street sweeping times are different depending on which side you enter the road, so if you dont want to move your car in the morning, just check the signs
We slept here one night. No problems, but we moved the camper before 8am to the parking lot. Sweeping street time Monday to Thursday from 8am to 10am
