Description

Lighthouse point past the Punta Baja fishing village. It's about a 10 mile dirt road route from El Rosario. The road can easily be done in a 2WD. The point is exposed and was windy/foggy when we were there. Juan the watchman checked in on us and told us it was no problem to stay there. Our dog had fun exploring the dunes and met up with Pirata the village dog. It's a pretty spot but a little remote for a short stay and not sure there's too much to do in the immediate area.

Very cool fishing town and point. Everyone around was friendly and plenty of places to camp

Camped near the ramp that takes you down to the rock jetty. Got in late at night and was very windy but there are some low spots in the dunes and old buildings for wind breaks. Saw someone parked their van on the access to the beach which blocked it but I guess is also possible. Local guy flagged us down with his flash light and was super nice about camping. Some sketchy out houses and a couple of barrels for trash near the beach. The road to here was great Gmaps takes you right to the lighthouse.

Easy road out here in our 2wd G20 van - the best dirt road we’ve taken in Mex in our 3 months here. Locals are lovely, there are two small restaurants and they will sell you live lobsters to cook yourself if you ask nicely. There are toilets you can use in town. Take the turn off near Mama Espinosas, otherwise you’ll get lost in farm land.

the directions in the Surfing Baja book were difficult. Google maps is better. the lighthouse looks like a short telecom tower. camping seems better beyond the fisherman's village. a few fenced off private properties and some ruined buildings that seem to be used as outhouses by campers.

Such a wonderful place about 30-40 minutes from the village (it’s a dirt road but totally doable for any kind of car)
It’s a small fishing village where you can surf on a point break. You can camp on the cliff or even on the beach. And you can see some beautiful dolphins.
When the fishermen come back, you can ask them to buy some fresh fish.

There is no cell reception.

Very pretty place to spend the night. Very windy the night we were there. road out to the point was one of the easiest dirt roads we have done in Baja. When you arrive, a security guy will come to tell you that it's ok to sleep here. He told us they were watching the coast for pirates. He did not appear to be joking.

Incredible experience. Great vistas. The point was remarkably wind-free. Stopped by Don Chuys and had a memorable dinner of fresh sheepshead fish, homemade tortillas and salsa, Tecate and tequila.
Checked out the fisherman bringing in the fresh lobster catch. Awesome.

We stayed here 1 night and it wasn’t the best. Very foggy, cold and light rain, felt like we weren’t in Baja! Drive in is okay but long. We were here alone too. Surf was not happening

Great view of the ocean on 3 sides from the point. Nice sunset and a cool breeze was welcome after the hot desert heading north to get here. No ammenities, but there is a campground closer to the village with a pit toilet and we were told it was 100 MXN for as long as tou want by some surfers camping there.

Great spot! We slept just under the lighthouse for 2 nights with 2 vans.
Pirata the guard dog came by a couple of times as did a crew of « security guys ». Very friendly!
Supposed to be a fun surfspot too but no waves for us this time.
It takes about 45min to an hour to get there. Rough road. Whales, dolphins and seals near the shore.
We dug a little firepit for the next campers.
If the fishermen caught some fish you can buy some!
