Description

This stretch of the 5n is currently under major construction and are closed nearly all day, from 7am to 6pm. We got stuck one Monday, from what we saw there were no warning signs. Travel safe!

Still in construction on 42 km in lenght in the cordillera azul. No full day closures but many stops. With the motorcycle they might let you through if you are politely asking. So did we 😀. Buenas rutas.

now you have to wait 7.8km further south at nuevo san martin. they open at 6 pm again. it is closed from 1pm until 6 pm. small road blackages are on and off coming from tingo maria. the police in tingo maria did not know about it, although they phoned their collegues.

Road works still here. You can pass at 6pm. It took us about 5 hours to get to this point from Tarapoto anyway...

men still working on the road and several parts are a stop-and-go situation. Encountered about 4 stops with a total wait time of around 2 hrs. quite muddy after it rains but doable without 4x4.
