Good paved road from Tarapoto to Tingo María.

No construction anymore. Good asphalted road but sometimes there are a few meters gravel.

Still in construction on 42 km in lenght in the cordillera azul. No full day closures but many stops. With the motorcycle they might let you through if you are politely asking. So did we 😀. Buenas rutas.

now you have to wait 7.8km further south at nuevo san martin. they open at 6 pm again. it is closed from 1pm until 6 pm. small road blackages are on and off coming from tingo maria. the police in tingo maria did not know about it, although they phoned their collegues.

Road works still here. You can pass at 6pm. It took us about 5 hours to get to this point from Tarapoto anyway...

The road is closed from 7.00 till 18.00 every day . May be one year more. The road is a mess!!

We were here at a Saturday and the construction site was closed from 7am unil 6pm..

men still working on the road and several parts are a stop-and-go situation. Encountered about 4 stops with a total wait time of around 2 hrs. quite muddy after it rains but doable without 4x4.

This stretch of the 5n is currently under major construction and every Monday, Wednesday and Friday parts will be closed for some period of time that is not determined. We got stuck one Monday, from what we saw there were no warning signs. Travel safe!
