If you take the back road [9] between Jujuy and Salta you will pass a lake, there is a stoney track at S 24.28.619 W 065.17.434 that circles the lake, take the first left and a rough track leads down to the lake. I asked done locals if it was okay to camp and they said it would be fine. Idyllic place with cows meandering around and a few boats on the lake.

Lugar hermoso y tranquilo! Saquen agua del río un poco antes de bajar al embalse si no tienen lo suficiente para la noche
Report Check-InBeautiful and peaceful place. One of the local dogs decided to hang out with us for a good while but didn't follow us in the morning. The terrain to get there is pretty rough, even for bicycles. Definitely not for 2wd but otherwise recommended!
Agree that it’s really pretty, many wild horses, birds, cows. However the end of the road to get there is dug out and in pretty bad shape, narrow with many branches on both sides. You need good clearance to pass. Definitely not for vans or campers.
Report Check-InVery nice spot. 4WD advised, mainly for the end.
We went there with a campervan and it was a bit too small : we broke a lot of branches.
For the rest, very nice.
Be careful if it rains, the road could not be possible.
The end was a bit tought but worth it. Tons of butterflys, some birds cows and horses came to say hi. In the morning there is some mist over the lake, amazing. There is some trash saddly.
Report Check-InGreat location.
We dared to get there by 2x4 and were successful. The way isn't that steep but it has deep draws towards the end. We were lucky because it was very dry.
In the evening there where some fishermen who left when it got dark.
Took a swim the next day. The entrance into the lake was grassy - even underwater. A quite comfortable and special experience!
Recommend!
Report Check-InI would say 4x4 only. Not for big rigs for sure. Nice views and quiet at night. Horses and cattle around. Good place for fishing and bird spotting, but rubbish everywhere.
Report Check-InThe only entrance to the lake that was not gated was the one with the 'pescadores' sign. We took it and ended up driving a really narrow and rough road, sweeping through bushes. Nearly at the end there was a small but deep muddy stream that we didn't dare to cross, so we turned around. Definitely not for big rigs and maybe better in dry season.
Report Check-InVery nice and quiet place, bit dirty from the rubish around, this is the fishermans place
