Description

Nice State Park near Roswell. $10 for tent site with shelter, table & water & pit Toilets. Also area in park for hookups with showers (Lea Lake, reservation-only, $14-$18/night plus $4 reservation fee 9/2021). There are showers at back of the campground for the campers and separate showers, by the lake, are seasonal. They were not operational when I was here, 5/7/19. Showers are outside showers.

Very nice. Bathrooms were clean with flush toilets and shower were as well. Sites are gravel pads and fairly level. Driving out from Roswell it doesn’t look like a place to find a lake but you crest a hill and drop in. Lake looks nice and in the summer it is probably refreshing.

We were going to just pull off but decided to check out this park. It was very nice. Did the whole online reservation. It’s frustrating to pay $4 more when I could just put money in a box in half the time.

Report Check-In

Made a last minute reservation online, rolled in after sunset. Easy process online, $18 total. Sites are big and aren’t on top of each other. Water/elec hookup and picnic table under a shelter. Charcoal grill also but I think there’s a burn ban right now.

Lake was clean and had it all to myself, probably because it was 35 degrees out at 7:00am. Any Hoffers out there?

Bathrooms clean enough, didn’t use the showers.

Cool spot, would spend some time here if we had more.

Report Check-In

Awesome spot. We used one of the tent spots. Our own private canyon. The reservation system doesn’t work. It’s just horrible. Show up, find a spot, fill out the form and drop off the envelope.

Great place! Sites are $10 for a basic tent site. No one was staying around me so it was nice to have the privacy

Report Check-In

Incredibly peaceful and spacious. Terrific facilities, wide and far enough apart for privacy. Pet friendly, in fact most of Roswell is as well. Most spaces have water and power, some also have sewage. Dump station is easy to pull into as well. The campground includes access to Lea Lake, which is spectacular clear water with a swimming area etc. Just an amazing place. Highly recommended.

Report Check-In

Cannot recommend more highly. The state park has wifi all over, showers with hot water, a lovely atmosphere, kids playing at the "beach". We stayed one night but could easily stay here a week. We just slept in the parking lot in our van but the lot is by the lake too... So no fee but if you plan on using electricity or water then def pay the fee, it's $10-$20.

Report Check-In

I was able to stay in a (cheaper) tent site because I don't have any hookups! so ask about that if you're in a similar situation. nice hosts, I had a look in the little museum at the visitors center. nice bathrooms

Report Check-In

This place was so nice, clean and quiet. For $14 u get electricity, water, bathrooms & showers. Everything is super clean but make sure u have gas before driving in (10 min in from highway) down a long windy road.

5.00 day use fee $ 10.00 first come first serve dry camping at lower lakes campground at the first welcome center when arriving from the north on 409. full hookups available at lea lake camping area for $14.00 -18.00 ( prices may be seasonal check online ) must reserve ahead for lea campground . lower lakes campground is fcfs. there is a self pay station near welcome center. lea campground showers and dump station can be used even if staying at lower lakes campground.

Got power/water site for $14 plus $4 reservation fee ($18.00 total) for two of us in our rooftop tent. Open sites with covered picnic table gravel pads. It was windy and pretty cold out with low at night being in the 30’s. Unfortunately, didn’t know when we booked that the campsite bathroom/shower facility was shut down. Looked like showers are outdoors also? Found note on door to “use the day use bathrooms” but didn’t direct where those were. Found them by the lake near the buildings center with flush toilets. Can get windy, but nice view of rock tower with Capitan Peak? in the background was breathtaking during sunrise. Not bad all-in-all if you’re prepared for weather. Was quiet at night and good signal for Verizon was able to do skype and make calls.

I think during the summer the place would be packed with party goers. but it's a nice place. I didn't stay just checking it out.

Unique camping around the sinkhole lakes. And bonus of a refreshing larger lake for a swim on a hot day that stays at 65F.
$10 for no hookups, though they said you could reserve hookups, but on line only

Report Check-In

Cool spot in a series of several small sink hole lakes. A few of the tent sites are in nice spots but no beach. The RV camp is right by the day use and beach area. Showers, water and dump. Good Verizon LTE and I show WiFi but didn't try. An oasis in the desert near Roswell 👽

Report Check-In

Pretty nice established campground at Lea Lake. Sites have full hookups and Lea Lake is perfect for kayaking or paddle boarding. We did wish there was more to see with the lakes, as it only took us about 30 minutes to see all of them, but it’s close to Roswell and the alien themed stuff was fun for the day!

Report Check-In

We stayed in D5 of the non reservation spots, and it was great! Right at the bottom of a little canyon to explore, clean pit toilets, covered picnic table, water nearby. $10 a nite, great cell service on Verizon, quiet at night.

1/15-1/16/22 Spent 2 nights camped here. Great spot. There are RV spots and Tent sites. There are a couple short hikes to the various ponds and lakes. Great views overlooking Roswell, NM and close to. 10 to 20 min drive to town. About hour to hour and half from Billy the Kids grave/Fort Sumner. Also doesn’t hurt your about 2 hours from Carlsbad Caverns/Guadeloupe mountains, and 3 hours from white sands national park. 10 per night for tent/car camping.

Report Check-In

water at each camp site. great sunset views and take a walk to the small lakes.
tmobile and at&t work well

Report Check-In

nice park, nice host. this is the 2nd time we have stayed here. the flies are horrible but nice lake to dive. only 5 sites have dump at site and not all sites have 50 amp.

Report Check-In

Reservations only pull-thru spots at Lea Lake Campsite, online at park website…same day is fine. Spot 24 is closest to lake and restrooms. Showers are outside restrooms, beach showers, and they look cold if they even work at all…the place seems seasonal, and the dock is off limits/empty in September.

Report Check-In

A hidden gem. In the reserved area campsites are large. Have shade structures, picnic tables, grills, 30 amp electric and water. Dump station on site. Our site #24 was right next to the lake. Awesome swimming, kayaking, etc! Big rig friendly. No problem with our 40 foot fifth wheel.

Report Check-In

Nice campground. First come sites were full but many res only sites available and can be booked same day. $14 for elec and water. $18 for full.

Report Check-In

Nice little State Park with nice sized campsites. Bathrooms by the sites with hookups have showers. Also has some amenities at the lake there. Made a great basecamp for exploring the area.

Report Check-In

Great spot, easy camping. This time of year the showers were not working. Keep this in mind. There was not any crowds.
Again, this time of year seemed like a good time to crash here. No showers working when I was here.

Report Check-In

Very nice campground and camp hosts. Uploaded more photos.

Report Check-In

Beautiful Park with a lake for swimming, trails, developed campsites with no electric, reservable campsites with electric some with sewer, and some first come first serve sites. A large day use area, a playground for the kiddos, a volleyball court, and very reasonably priced.

Report Check-In

$10 for big campsite with no water or electric, self check in. $12 for a site with water, $14 for water + electric. The Lea Lakes campsite has hot showers & a dump site.

The downside is that the entire state park reeked of manure. Very very stinky. Be warned !

Report Check-In

Its only okay. $5 per day entry, no paper maps available. Ranger was present at the visitor center but had it locked during scheduled hours. I'm not impressed, but it would be an okay place to cool off in the heat if you can find unofficial parking.

Report Check-In

Self pay station for late arrivals. Found a spot along figure eight lake. Basic amenities. Very quiet.

Report Check-In

10$ without hookups or 14$ with. Flush toilets and cold showers next to a lake. Good place just outside Roswell and no light pollution if you want to look for aliens ;)

Report Check-In
