Very nice area. Laguna Azul is very beautiful
Price:free
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
big mostly flat gravel lot available to camp in about 200m before the new visitor center. the sign at the entrance says no pets but the workers said that was only to go into the crater and that they were ok at this parking area. it's a 34 second walk from the parking area to the rim to look into the crater. worth a quick stop even if your not camping.
Report Check-InIt says no camping, but people are doing it anyway. It’s a very safe and quiet (minus the wind) place for wild camping. The only others there were one camper van and one cyclist in a tent. A very quiet night. Once the visitors’ center is built I suspect this will cease to be a decent camping spot. It’s extremely convenient with its proximity to the border.
Report Check-InSpend quiet night on a sort of (new) parking space on the side of the acces road to the laguna. Nobody seemed to mind. More or less sheltered from wind. Fit for big rig.
‘The house’ they are building is probably the visitor centre building. It’s pretty huge, so when it’s finished it’s likely that is not permitted anymore to camp there so be aware of that.
It is forbidden to camp by the lake but you can sleep at the edge of the access track, we spent two quiet nights there.
il est interdit de camper au bord du lac mais vous pouvez dormir au bord de la piste d’accès, nous y avons passé deux nuits tranquilles.

A Laguna Azul é simplesmente deslumbrante! Ventos fortíssimos, mas não tem como não se encantar com toda essa beleza natural. Fizemos várias fotos e vídeos. Como digo sempre, o trajeto proporciona paisagens incríveis, então nem sempre o destino é o mais importante. Aprecie o trajeto! É a mão Deus boa mostrando o tanto que a natureza é linda!
Report Check-InCamping is forbidden (2 big signs) and they are building a house at the parking lot. Not possible to stay here.
Report Check-InGood place to spend the night before border crossing. The lagoon is very nice, a beautiful spot in the wilderness.
Report Check-Innice place to spend the night before the border. the laguna is beautiful although not that big.
Report Check-InPerfect place to to stay with a Mobil home. Quiet but most of the time very windy. Tend camping is forbidden.
Report Check-InConvenient spot before or after border crossing, only few leveled spots and some wind protection. No services.
Report Check-InBeautiful spot. Stayed in our camper van on the edge of the car park. Not very flat, but very peaceful and not too windy.
Report Check-InA quiet and safe place to stop for the night before the border, but so windy!!! The walking trails aren't very long (there are fences attempting to restrict access to the lake, too, but most people seemed to ignore them). You really don't need more than an hour or so to explore the Laguna.
Report Check-InNice and free spot above the lagoon. Very windy spot but good enough to park a van or set a tent.
Report Check-InAwesome lake inside the crater. great place. we put up the tent inside the crater on the grass. perfect. no one bothered us. no problems with the wind.
Report Check-InReally nice lagoon, especially as there are not many people around. Windy, but ok for camping.
Report Check-InPerfect spot to stay, a nice walk down to bottom of crater. Other campers also parked here.
Report Check-InGreat location, very nice landscape. Convenient for an early crossing to Chile.
Report Check-InQuiet place, lots of wind, no dogs, no cell reception. Agree level spots are on grass.
Report Check-InNice view on the lake. Leveled area on the grassy part of parking. Good access.
Report Check-InVery nice place to stay overnight. Quiet. When we arrided and during the night very windy. No wind cover.
Report Check-InVery good place, we spend a night with 3 tents in the top of the crater. It's windy.
the policia juste check our ID but they said it's ok ;)
Local especialmente lindo, de paz e tranquilidade. Passamos a noite para de manhã cedo atravessar a fronteira Chilena.
Report Check-Invery beautiful place And quiet instead Rio Gallegos for the
night
. laguna is realy a Nice place. to recommended
super spot pour passer la nuit avant de passer la frontière. La lagune est très belle et mérite une petite randonnée
Report Check-InCrater lake beautiful setting park a little before the carpark on the grass nice and level. Highly recommended
Report Check-InThe lake is beautiful, really nice short hike down and up. The parking is not even, so we parked further down. Quiet in the evening & night.
Report Check-InVery nice place to spend a night! Good access. The view and the lake are really nice.
Report Check-InSeems to be always windy. We were really churned in our car. But lake is definitely worth a overnight stop.
Report Check-InNice crater lake, but the parking lot is windy and less than ideal for tents. I put up my tent in the crater next to the lake. Perfect!
Report Check-InGood place to stay after/before the border. Although we had a very windy night.
Report Check-InNice spot, was pretty windy when we arrive. Good for overnight before Chilly border.
Report Check-InNice volcanic crater with lake. Secluded parking lot. windy today.
Report Check-InQuite nice spot after passing the loud City Rio Gallegos. Windy, but at night it was ok. The road was good, only 1 km dirt.
Report Check-InVery nice place to stay overnight and cook all the stuff you are not allowed to get to Chile. Kids swam in the cold volcano lagune.
Report Check-InSchöner Platz vor der Grenze. Die Lagune ist sehenswert, man kann runterlaufen. Viele Vögel.
Report Check-InLovely, quiet free spot to spend the night and go on a moonlit walk to the crater. No wind in the evening while cooking and early morning, but hit the snooze too many times and finally had to strap down the roof tent in raging wind. Still recommended over staying in Rio Gallegos.
Report Check-InBeautiful crater lake that should be re-named Laguna Verde. Nice hike down to the shore. Just a short dirt road off the main highway to get here and very quiet and free. The parking area is extremely windy though. Wasn't possible to cook outside. Had far less wind in the morning.
Report Check-InWe were going to stay here but the wind was just too intense. No wind coverage at all. Only amenity was trash cans. Crater lake was pretty, but not a place I would recommend as a must see. Maybe the intense weather made it less appealing.
Report Check-InParking in parking lot just near pretty lake set in a volcanic crater. Quite a few people on the car park when we arrived but quiet later. Free. No facilities.
Report Check-InLovely spot but quite windy. Keep an eye out for the colony of buff-breasted ibises...
Report Check-In- free
- no facilities
- dirt parking in front of the lagoon, nobody here at night
