Description

Easy border crossing, no money asked, just stamped the passports and carnet... done in 5 minutes. However you absolutely need the e-visa to get through if you're going to Guinea. Without it they won't let you through, even with the payment confirmation.

Closed from 13h to 15h

From Senegal to Guinea.
Quite the adventure over there. First, I asked and paid for the e-visa online, on Wednesday (btw, they tell you they need a photo of your return flight reservation, but they actually don't ask for it during the process, so no need to bother renting one if you're traveling by road like me).
Then on Sunday I left Tambacounda to arrive in Manda during early morning and leave for the border. It took the whole day for the car to fill up 🫠. So we ended up leaving at 7pm. When we reached the border, it was closed of course, so everyone slept under the stars (we weren't the only car there). The next morning, we all crossed first thing... well except me, because it turned out unlike what I'd been told, the payment confirmation for the e-visa wasn't enough to get through. You need a copy of the real e-visa, which has a QR code and should take three days max to be sent to you. So I waited and waited and waited on Monday to get it (since I had requested it on Wednesday evening, Monday was the last day the embassy could send it to me without breaking the three-day deadline). At 3pm, I still hadn't received anything, so I just called them and they eventually sent it (they seemed to have forgotten about visas lol). So, if you're in the same case, don't hesitate to give them a call (+221 33 824 86 06). They'll let you talk to the guy in charge, and he fixed my visa issue in thirty minutes.
Anyway, after that I managed to cross without problem. Got my exit stamp from Senegal in five minutes and found a guy to take me to Guinea. The officers, who almost bit my head off during the morning, were much friendlier.
P.S: while I waited for the e-visa to be sent, I found a print shop next to the border where I was able to print my e-visa. The family in charge is adorable. They let me charge my phone, wait in their shop all day until I got the e-visa, and even brought me food and water. All of that for free. Their last name is Ba (super common, I know, but you can't miss them. They're the owners of the print/phone shop closest to the border). If you need anything (print, charging phone, etc), don't hesitate to ask them, and leave them something if you can (they would never ask for anything themselves, they help without expecting anything in return). Really wonderful people.

From Guinea to Senegal. First we had to wash our hands with soap at a blue water container on the right. Continue 100m. In an office on the left, the passports were stamped and photographed. The vehicle registration and driving license were also checked here. 100m further on the left again there is a hygiene office where our vaccination certificates were checked. 200m further we are at customs to stamp the CdP. Because of the lunch break we have to wait another 70 minutes. CdP was stamped without any problems. After the town, the repaved dirt road towards Tambacounda began.

From Guinea to Senegal.
Quickly processed but we met here the rudest custom officer. He shouted at us and used bad words in front of the kids, threatening to use his "superpower" of sending us back to Guinea when we simply (starter, cause he cut of) asked to stamp our passeport in a corner instead of using the middle of a free page...
In return, the best we could do is to ignore him, looking away and pretending we barelly understood his words while he was loudly telling insanities.
After we talked about that around in Senegal, it looks this happens very frequently.
Senegal being a turisty country with governmental instructions, if your paper work is in order and your behaviour alright, they would never never send anyone back of.
Appart from that specific "person", that we felt so bad for him afterwards, evryone lovely and super professionnal.
- No Visa (stamp for free)
- Passe-avant done quickly at next stop for free also, but only 10 days that you can extend later while roaming in the country.

Senegal to Guinea. The border crossing is spread out across 50-60kms and we made a total of 7-8 separate stops: immigration 2x, customs 2x, log book entry, and general passport checkpoints. All easy and hassle free, but it took quite some time because of the many stops. Entered with Guinea e-visa (printed in black and white) without issues.

Guinea to Senegal

I had a problematic exit from Guinea.

The entry into Senegal with immigration, health and customs for carnet was child's play and free of waiting or hassles.

Report Check-In

Quick border crossing exiting from Senegal. Pleasant officers no fees.

Report Check-In

Customs checkpoint about 20 miles before the border into Guinea.
Rope across the road.
Vehicles queueing.
Closed for lunch between 13.00 and 15.00 (I wish I had known and I would have got up earlier).
Money changers and (unsavoury-looking) food stalls while you wait.

Report Check-In

After waiting a long time for our Guinean visa and still not receiving it, we decided to just go to the border and try it with the filled in application form and confirmation of payment. At the first police checks you may be able to convince them to let you through. However, they will refuse to stamp you out without you Guinea visa. No discussion about it.

Report Check-In

Stampa in passport anc CdP, quickly, no Money. no issue.

Report Check-In

CLOSE BETWEEN 1 to 3pm but we were able to see an officer at 2pm. Crossing from Senegal took 4 hours. 6 stops
1-CDP stamped
2-Passeport stamped, officer asked for: proof of vaccination, visa Guinee and passport.
3-Guinee border, police asked for vaccination and carnet, no stamp
4-Passport stamped
5-CDP stamped
6-Papers verification
We were told that if you have an e-visa and you spend more than 5 days in Guinée you need to go in Conakry to Ministère de la sécurité to have the visa in your passport or else you may have trouble to get out.

Guinea - Senegal
They didn't give us any entry stamp to Senegal, said they don't have stamp... said that only the exit stamp from Guinea is enough so we only got a stamp in our carnet. No prove in passport that we legally enter Senegal.
Hope it will be fine.

Getting stamped out of Senegal here. No money asked, quick process.
Is indeed some kilometer before the actual border. You drive through a quiet park and then reach the border with official buildings that are not in use. Guinean immigration and customs still further down as correctly indicated in the app.
