Description

Gales Point Wildlife Sanctuary: arrange with Kevin Andrewin for camping (no services), currently free though there may be a small fee in the future. There is level space for several small campers next to Kevin's house. Kevin is a Ranger for the sanctuary and is very involved with manatee and turtle conservation efforts, and will guide small groups by boat to manatee viewing for US$30 per person. Find Kevin at his house, directly next to the "Gales Point Wildlife Sanctuary" sign and just south of Gentles Cool Spot restaurant and guest house. Kevin and his young family were very hospitable when we camped. Kevin may sometimes be reached at +501-662-1440.

Latest Check-Ins

We stayed here only one night in our way to the north. Its a special narrow peace of land in the middle of nature, with a little village that looks very runed down. Got here at night and felt weird at the beginign but then we got to Kevins place and he was very welcoming and happy to have visitors after Covid. He told us about the preservation work that he has been doing and offered us the manatee tour but we didnt have time to take it. We shared some drum music with his cousin and him. Didnt charge us for camping but we gave him 15 BZ for the night. There are no facilities but wifi.

good and safe place to stay with our camper. Did the boattour at the lodge, paied 75us$ for two persons (at the end too much). Kevin drived us for 1 hour to the manetees, have seen just a few noses in some distance. When Kevin has fixt his own boat he will have tours for campers too..
