Description

Road side rural parking near to the volcano Machin. Hot water flows through a pipe into a big cemented pool.

Edit "the_campulance" on 24.07.2018: Despite the hotsprings currently being out of service, there is a small (also closed) kiosk with a cold shower and toilet that are open/unlocked.

Latest Check-Ins

Travelling by bicycle we camped here for the night, the owners seemed friendly but then tried to ask for 100,000 COP each to camp, use thermales, lunch, breakfast & dinner which seemed extortionate. after a lot of back and forth eventually negotiated down to a more reasonable 60,000 COP each and no lunch (still felt expensive). This whole experience left a bit of a bitter taste, especially as another overlanding couple seemed to have been given completely different prices. also locals were using the pool until 3am so wasn't a peaceful night. I would maybe just use the pool here and try the hospedaje or finca either side for a place to stay.

Hot springs here and open. The owner Luz let me camp upstairs / swim and cooked dinner and breakfast for me. Good spot for cyclists riding to / from Salento, my legs were thankful for the hot water. Paid 60k for everything.

This isn’t a review for the hot spring but instead for the farm camping close by.

To reach the farm, take the side road at the fork and the farm is maybe 2k ms up the road. You’ll need 4wd on this road as there are a couple of serious mud holes. Proceed till the road ends at a gate. Pass through and drive across a field to the farmhouse which you’ll see. The farm is in the middle of the volcano. We paid 5k per person. Great little family. Friendly dogs, pigs, horses. No services of any kind. Beautiful!

A highlight so far of our Colombian experience.

as described. Don't be too disapointed when you arrive. Coming from Ibague on "Los Tuneles" this is the first bigger parking spot (200m towards Toche).

Not worth the drive. It is a small pool packed w people. Next door has a more private pool but still not worth going. Restaurant is basic

New ownership, the pool and toilet are well maintained. Small store across the street sells beer, soda, chips, etc. We slept under the kiosk roof near the bathroom. Running cold water at the sink outside the toilet.

was open when we were here. its only a manmade pool with hot water, not worth coming this way just for that. But the drive is beautiful! :)

At the moment, these termales are "closed". They were washed away after some heavy rainfall (see pictures). If you still want to check them out, the drive is beautiful but sometimes challenging. High clearance is a must, 4WD optional. There were some muddy spots along the way coming from Salento. A local told us about two more hotsprings, one is apparently 2km from Toche (currently out of service as well) and another is supposed to be 10km away.
We will not mark this placed as closed as we believe they will fix it after the rainy season.

We camped and had a small open fire in a flat quarry just 50 meters from the hot spring. The pool was empty when we arrived at night. in the morning a lady had come out to put the plugs in and said if we wanted to use the pool it would be 4000 pp and it would take 4 hours to fill. She offered to cook for us as well. just across from our camp there's a small trail leading down the river to some steaming hot jets of water and steam. Worth the small hike to see. bring some eggs to boil them in the steam geysers.

Found a parking spot before reaching the terms. Directly after a small schoolbuilding. Nice spot with beautifull views. There is water in the schoolbuilding.
Rather difficult to reach. Sometimes very bad road. Big rigs should be carefull on the road from Cajamarca.
