Basically an open flat area off Pegleg Rd. There are a lot of rigs here including one fairly far off who seems to think that everyone else likes his taste in country music. Scenery is wide open, with room for any size rig. Lots of level places to park, and the sandy ground isn’t too hard on my dog’s feet. We saw a pit privy in a similar area just up the road. Breezy. Some road noise, but not loud. 1 bar ATT and adequate LTE. Not bad for the price (free).

Massive area with many other campers. Lots of room to keep your distance. Close to town where we enjoyed the farmer's market on Friday at Christmas Circle. Felt safe and convenient.

Report Check-In

Large area, hard packed sand and the occasional desert bush. Just outside the park. Clean pit toilets across the street.
This might be a good spot to camp during the week, but unfortunately we were there over the President's Day long weekend, and it was awful. There was one group with maybe 5 units, along with all their OHVs, and no respect for the other 20 campers in the area. Racing in and around the other camp sites until midnight. Fortunately they were far enough away that we couldn't hear their music all night as well.

Large and quiet place for any size of rigs. Good cel phone signal but bad Internet.

Great boondocking site with good T-Mobile and att reception. If you camp far enough from there road it'll be totally silent.

Excellent boondocking spot. Stayed in a 38ft motorhome for a couple weeks. 3 bars 4G LTE Verizon with decent bandwidth. This is an area of BLM land surrounded by the Anza-Borrego State Park land. The town of Borrego Springs is about 5 flat miles away. Everything you need is there including a huge public library with free wifi.

Two full timers are on this land. Both are parked near each other. Their rigs look rough, but they are nice guys. Chat with Donald if you see him out on his eBike. He knows the area well!

I stayed here at the recommendation of a ranger. I’m in a minivan. No issue with deep sand at this time. Several others staying here but spread out. 2 bars Verizon. Very pleasant and pretty- surrounded by mountains. Some road noise but you can pull off pretty far if you want.

Nice spot in Borrego. Perfect for cars to big RV’s. A little traffic noise though the night but nothing major.
Good spot to rest up.

If you're wanting to avoid some of the OHV off road crowd or activities, I recommend staying at the "Peg Leg Smith" market campground to the north of this bend (it's on Google). It's run by the California parks department, has pit toilets, and had mostly quiet RV neighbors. Sign says you can stay a limit of 30 days.

Gravel dunes away from everyone else. the Sheriff recommended this spot to me. west of the "road" is private property where camping is allowed. east is the state park where you can camp no more than one car length drop the road.

It’s camping along a busy road. Large Class A camping available. Need to ensure sand is hard or you will get stuck.

Just north of the Y intersection is Pegleg Monument, a large flat area very popular with RVs. You get some road noise, but otherwise, it's a nice overnight spot. No services. Hardpacked level dirt surface.
