As described. Someone has put a helluva lot of work and effort into this track - handrails, ladders, steps, inscriptions - and it is a shame it appears to have been abandoned. However for the moment the track is still easily visible, the ladders are sound (if not all the handrails!) and there is an excellent view after an hour of up and down rainforest walking. And it is free on a day when we doubted we would get a view and didn't want to pay Conaf 11,000. The suspension bridge is a good picnic spot if nothing else. The chap should have a donation box!

tiny little parking area on the low side of the road from where you can hike to a lookout point to see the glacier explore. if there is no one at the hut by the side of the road, a Chilean told us to pass the barrier which is at the end of a small path cluttered with plants which gives onto a suspension bridge. when you have crossed the bridge there is about an hour's walk to the first watchtower. you have to walk through a lush and beautiful forest reminiscent of the Amazon rainforest to get there. in wet weather the path is slippery and a little muddy with lots of roots but there are also lots of stairs and other features to help. we recommend.

Really nice scramble up the hill trough dense rain forest. A lot of little ladders/steps to help. View of glacier(s) is spectacular. 1 hour to go up. Starts by crossing the river on a suspension bridge. Nobody there to take payment. I guess they‘ll only be there occasionally.

We came here after realising it was now 9,000 pp to do the conaf hike to glaciar face. This one wasn’t guarded so we were able to hike for free. Follow overgrown trial from the small booth to the hanging bridge, then it’s easy to follow. Quite slippery when wet, but beautiful trial through the forest floor to the miradors. 2nd one was still incomplete. I scrambled past some fallen trees and the end of the trail (marked with crossed wooden beams) a little further for a nice view. Added a photo of the trial so you can see elevation gain-not nearly as steep as we’d thought, until the last part. Only an hour at easy, gentle pace to reach first mirador.

Great hike up with beautiful views. After the main viewpoint (at around 1.6 km) the trail continues. However it is not fully finished. I went another 100m up after the trail became unfinished, eg no ladder support and was presented with another beautiful view of the glacier. Maybe by the time you get there it will be finished.

Good view of sprawling glacier, second biggest we have seen since torres grey glacier. Hike reminds me of pumalin park, wet, boggy, muddy and at least a dozen stepladders. Trail is pretty clear, follow pink ribbons and avoid those blocked by wood. 3 hours return if you go to first mirador. 4 hours return if u push to second, BUT the second was not completed when we climbed this, meaning we were near the top of the hill but didnt summit. The view is somewhat obstructed if you didnt summit to the second, but you can see 4 glaciers in total.

Shoes and socks all muddy and wet after. We saw two mouse deers which made this hike super worth it. Was free as the booth was closed.
