Description

Going south, it's just before the bridge, before the crossroads. Big area. First part is grassy, but not hidden from the road and not so scenic. If you go further, there's a little clear (and noisy) river : hidden, much nicer, sunny still in the evening, fire pit... and a little bit more difficult to set up the tent, but that's fine.
For the while, no toilet paper, no rubbish. That becomes rarely... so please keep it clean and leave with your toilet paper !

Great spot as mentioned, BUT be careful with 2WD! The access ramp is steep and we nearly got stuck down, although it had not rained in a week. Plus, due to the round-shaped path surface, some central stones are higher than they look and you'll need high clearance or driving on a side. We hit one with our Mitsubishi L300 which is on the high side of the average.

Perfect spot for the night, we arrived late. The down close the road is the unique difficulty. It can be good for a 2wd. We’ve done it with a 12T truck. Enough space for fews vehicules, and at the end of the track, the river. So cool !!

Report Check-In

Excellent spot. Quiet, clean and secluded with enough space for three to four vehicles. Access is a bit dicey, but should be possible with a 2wd.

Access path is roughly parallel to the road and is easy to miss when headed south.

In the left side when come from the ferry of Puerto Yungay. Just after the exit to Tortel on your left and after crossing the bridge on your right is the entrance. We took it with both a 4x4 and a 2 wheel drive without a problem. Continue though the gras until you can turn right where there is a nice open spot at the fast flowing river. Away from the quiet road you are fully in the beautiful nature with views on the mountain and the river. And indeed there is a fire pit. I slept very well in a roof tent on the sound of the river. But when I was there in November it was cold (1 degrees) but with a sleeping back and extra covers I slept warm and as a baby.
The spot is also totally clean. No rubbish or what so ever. Let’s keep it that way. Take it all with you!!

It was good that after visiting Tortel I returned for another night. And I even had internet there!

Great spot!! Hidden behind trees from the road. Phone service a little slow but still works. Nice view of river and mountains. Had it all to ourselves, definitely recommend.

Great place to set up the tent: you have the river, flat area, fire pit, lots of wood and you are hidden from the road. Wefelt so good here that we stayed 2 nights. It's good for cyclists that want to shower!!
In case of strong wind you can move your tent in different places behind the trees, but there is no proper shelter except trees.

Report Check-In

We found this place like an really good option before heading to Villa O'Higgins. We were surprised how large the spot is and 100% invisible from the road. You can hear cars, but 0 traffic during night and also the river makes nice sound. Acces can be difficult for 2WD without high clearance. Movistar mobile signal. Even when windy you can find some places where the air doesn't move.

We stayed here as we missed the ferry to OHiggins. There is place for probably 2 or 3 cars in the grassy levelish area. Some fire pits and wood around. Access for big rigs might be a problem as trees are grown and we had to open the path with our machete. River right next to the campsite, not the best but good for one night

Report Check-In

Camped here overnight while waiting for a ride to O’Higgins. The nice area is to the right of the road (if you’re going towards Tortel). Walk through the clear area to the pile of boulders and then there is a gap in the trees on the other side which leads to a grassy area with the fire pit and easy river access.

as described... nice place... near the river it is quite noisy... setting up a tent is also not easy... but possible.
