Something not right?

Description

The sign says that it is a new campsite, and it looked newish.
The caretaker asked R200 pp!! But that was absolutely crazy. But you have to be friendly and polite in Mozambique. So we sugested 1000 Mt. He agreed.
The campsite is a plot of grass where you can pick a spot. The ablusion is oké, but only 2 toilets and 2 showers. So when busy in high season you have to queue. There are places with shadow.
There are also some wooden cabins you can rent.
Just before the beach there are two benches where you can sit and enjoy the sea view. It is 50 m to the beach.
There is a small place where you can clean your dishes. Here you can also plug in your devices.
No bar, no restaurant, but you can go to the neighbours through a small porch. No security and the caretaker leaves at 17.00 and locked the gate. So you cannot out thru the gate and have to use the neighbours exit/entry. Strange!!
Overall, to much for to little. It just has no atmosphere. Not recommending this place.

Latest Check-Ins

Update 6June2022: we inquired to stay here, but – probably because the place is on the market to be sold – they have not obtained a licence to offer camping. Otherwise, it is a very nice place.

Report Check-In

The campsite is on a property right at the beach. There are grassy, well- shaded sites and sandy ones with a superb view of the ocean. Also two wooden houses are available with verandas and braai areas.
The ablutions for the campers consist of 2 showers, 2 toilets and 2 sinks for men and the same for women. There are two sinks for dishwashing, a power plug for phones and a fish cleaning station as well. Everything was tidy, clean and the hot water really hot.
It is true that the gate is locked but that was rather an advantage in our eyes as it kept people from passing through the campsite on their way to the street or the beach. Also, the caretaker (and the owner) are easily reachable on their phones and the caretaker opens up whenever you need to go. As the campsite is very conveniently located you can do most things on foot anyway.
During the day quite a few people tried to sell their products because they saw our car from the beach. But they also left again when we declined. At night we felt safe.
The price is 1000Mets for two people for one night.

The ablutions for the campers consist of 2 showers and 2 toilets and 2 sinks for men and the same for women. There is a fish cleaning station in the back of the property and two sinks for dish washing as well as the plug in for phones etc. Everything was clean and the hot water definitely hot.
It is true that the caretaker does not live on the premises and the gate is locked, but he is easily reachable via phone/messages (as is the woman who owns it!) and opens up any time you want. In our view the locked gate kept people from crossing through the campground to the road, so for us it was positive. At night we felt safe. During the day quite a few people offering various products stopped by but left again after we insisted that we don't buy at the campsite.
The price is 1000Mets for two people for the night.
