Something not right?

Description

A dirt track leads from the Mex1 to a small hill, and just behind the crest there is a big open place (or 2). Not visible from the highway. The track ends at this place. Great sunsets!!

Quite nice, some noise from the hwy and not much to do (no hiking or anything else). A lot of broken glass in the area-be careful with pets. OK for one night.

Report Check-In

unfortunately, we took a hard left instead of just a left and an immediate right up the hill. we drive down the road and got stuck in the sand for 3 nights, when we were unable to turn around anywhere. it was a harrowing experience. do not take the road on the left unless you have high clearance and a 4x4. we were in 2 ram promasters.

Report Check-In

As described in earlier posts. Navigated the big dip with ease. The burnt car area is now just a burn scar. Some debris. Continue on past / further down the trail to the second camp spot with better sunset views & a bit more level. Lovely! 👍❤️🌵 Honestly, it’s still worth being here.

Somebody trashed the place and burnt a car there. Did not stay

easy spot just off the hwy to stop and rest for the night. As per below one large ditch to negotiate on the way in.

We pushed our loaded bicycles up the rough and rocky (but manageable) road, followed the curve to the left behind the hill, and came to a smooth, level, thorn-free spot near the big cactus with plenty of space for a two-person tent. A better tent campsite than many campgrounds! (I think the bike camper from 2018 didn't take the road far enough, it's probably about 400m to the hidden camping area). There is also another flat spot a little earlier, visible from the road, but great for watching the sunset which we did with another couple who joined us in their truck camper (and there was plenty of room for all).

unbeliveble nice, not far from Mainroad, quite, dark, Stars, cactus and nothing else, beautiful, place for big rigs, very quite, be quite, no waste at this side, be care,4*4

Report Check-In

As described. Really good for being of sight. Not as leveled, but not bad either. Had a good night.

absolutely stunning location. Nice and tucked away from the road, so relatively quiet without needing to drive too far off the main road. Make sure you show up early enough to catch the sunset!

Thanks for the little surprise @freedomyogis!

Wow - this is a special place. There’s definitely a dip near the beginning of the road but it’s easily doable with 2wd and proper clearance. Our two Chevy + Ford vans made it with room to spare. There is no trash at the beginning of the road or the campsite currently. Look for the dirt track on the south end of the pullout.
We left a new treasure for following visitors;) Hint: look under the shell! Enjoy and protect this beautiful spot for future visitors 💜

beautiful spot, very quiet. there’s no real level spot but it’s not bad being slightly slanted for 1 night. there is a huge dip at the very beginning of the track, if you can make it past that then you are good for the rest of the way. small cars might not be able to do it. but we were able to make it past in our ford econoline 2WD so that’s for you to judge. other than that it’s an amazing spot! (sadly no ✨surprise✨ was left here for us)

Beautiful spot. Keep it clean! It’s a gem

added by mistake. found a roadside cafe before reaching this location and stopped there for the night instead.

Report Check-In

Just as described by others! Great quiet spot to overnight. We met another nice couple that come adjust after we had arrived. No services here, just safe, quiet and near the road!

Report Check-In

Perfect quiet secret spot, not easy road access

Report Check-In

Great spot for us as we travelled up Baja in a hurry. Close to the road, but tucked out of view and fairly quiet. Quite clean, but beware of all the sticky and spiky cactus bits on the ground - especially if you have pets.

We saw a fat tailed gecko, a hare, a hummingbird and bats.

This place is great! Admittedly, we didn’t spend the night. The lure of adventure and treasure hunt from the previous poster brought us here and we are happy to report we recovered half of the 1/2 of the skunky prize! (Although a little crispy from being in the desert sun for a month) And we will be paying it forward on our next nights stay...tbd

Beautiful spot super quite

We left two rolled joints here hoping the next travelers find them ✌️😊

Report Check-In

This was a great spot to dry camp for the night. No amenities, just a wide open area off Highway 1 but hidden behind a hill. We were alone the one night we spent here but there are starting to be obvious signs others are using and abusing the area; not a lot of trash by any means, but maybe bring a trash bag to help clean up some of the beer cans and random detritus of less thoughtful travelers.

Report Check-In

Thankfully someone had mentioned the garbage to drive through. There are a lot of dirt tracks leading off the roads. the rest is as stated. Almost no noise from the road unless the trucks use an engine brake.

Wild Camping off Mex 1 behind a hill surrounded by a great garden of cacti, agave, cardon and cirios. You have to cross lots of trash just after leaving the highway at the pullout. The place itself is clean and not visible from the highway, the noise is no problem.

Report Check-In

Yes it's a nice hidden place within cool nature but would not highly recommend it for tents as the whole place is full of big stones and also the ground is not horizontal which makes it quite difficult to find a proper place for a tent. In addition everything was super wet like after rain in the morning.

Report Check-In

Lovely cactuses! From the 1 there's a large pullout on the left side coming down with a lot of garbage, drive through and you find the dirt track on your left, easy access. Lots of space.

Report Check-In

As described. A little windy. Make sure to stop early because those cactus are wonderful during the sunset. We loved it.

Report Check-In

We found the dirt road off the highway. Fairly easy access for our 24 foot school bus. Drive up the hill a bit and you’ll have a wonderful landscape. Not to much road noise. Lots of beautiful cactus. We wish we did the “dead zone” in two nights so we could spend another in the boulder field north of here. Great spot, clean, would come again.
