beach as described. long, sandy with patches of rocks. Cash only, US $ ok. I'm here the beginning of Easter week for 4 days. it's quiet now but will change soon they tell me. front row reserved and I had to move to the back for 4 days. warm, windy, cloudy. 170 pesos. worth it.
Report Check-InGreat campsite to stop at on route. $170 Mex per person per night. CASH only. On the beach. Hot showers included. Basic but clean. Friendly staff. Owner even helped my son with some repair work on his truck. WiFi extra $. Restaurant good. No wind. Would recommend.
Report Check-InBeautiful place right on the beach. We've stayed here twice. Both times very windy. $170. per person. Super quiet. Very nice family run the place. We had yummy garlic shrimp at the restaurant. You can get wifi at the restaurant for a small fee. Any size rig can come in. Road in is washboard, but solid. Just go slow.
Report Check-Invery nice and quiet place. with Palapa 170 mex. Pesos per person, cash! Toilets very clean and hot shower with enough space to store your clothes. pressure was not the problem. Good restaurant.
be prepared at this time of the year it can be very very windy!
We stayed at this place twice during our trip, and it was truly great! It is quiet, clean, and the restaurant serves delicious food. The shrimp omelette was the best! The views here are spectacular. The price for a night's stay with a palapa was $170 per person. The restrooms and showers were clean and had hot water.
Report Check-InSpent first 2 nights in Baja at this spot. Around 330 pesos for 2 people. Staff was friendly. Hot showers that were fairly clean but pretty terrible pressure. Good enough for a wash off though. Food at restaurant was decent. Lovely peaceful spot to spend a couple of days.
Report Check-InNice spot to stay after crossing the border. Did two nights. Good showers with hot water. Food is sent there also. Would stay here again. Easy to get to.
Report Check-InWe stayed here after learning that the beach just to the south has been developed and is no longer available for free boondocking. 170 pesos per person, which includes access to showers, bathrooms, and trash cans. Showers were hot for about 5 minutes, and can be purchased on their own without camping for 25 pesos. Overall, great for one night.
Report Check-InNice quiet place for 170 Pesos per night (bicycle touring + tent). The staff is very friendly and food at the restaurant is good. I did not have a warm shower, hot water had run out.
I went snorkling and saw a few fish. Staff told us they had seen dolphins 2 days before.
This was our first stop after crossing into Mexico at the Mexicali East Border. Took us about 5hrs to arrive to La Poma.
Easily found as the Instagram worthy large colourful letters of LA POMA are right on MX5.
Road in was washboard although easily traversed in our 26ft LTV, towing a Jeep.
Arrived to find the property full.
Full in that all beach front Palapas were occupied, although they offered for me to park 2nd row back from beach front.
After expressing disappointment, the girls offered me an option of camping, to the right of the property, just pass the houses on the beach for free.
Taking the dirt road from the La Poma Glamping property, passed the ALTO sign, past the house and onto the beach.
No other campers around us, although La Poma is just down the way, therefore found the location safe and without hesitation.
Report Check-InWonderful, peaceful camp site. We came in a 20ft class B Promaster, easily navigated the short stretch of washboard road from the highway to the camp.
Luis is the owner and speaks pretty good English. The ladies at the restaurant do not speak English though so brush up on your Spanish for ordering food. Garlic shrimp plate was delicious! We ordered it 3 times in one day.
The water is so clear you can see fish without even putting on your snorkel. Water was warm and perfect for swimming in during the hot weather. Strolled down the beach all the way past Campo Bufeo to the big rock for snorkeling and saw lots of colorful fish.
2 large intact male dogs on the property - Chico (social) and Lobo (shy and keeps distance). They were very respectful with our two frenchies.
Report Check-In170 pesos per person per night, clean, nice people, got the whole place for us. great view of the sea and the mountains
Report Check-InLarge flat beach. Stayed on a Tuesday but the restaurant is CLOSED Tuesdays. They charge to uses wifi even if you camp here. Flushing toilets are clean. Quiet place and better than down the road (south) across from the gas station.
Report Check-InGreat spot right on the beach for any size vehicle. Good little restaurant. friendly people and dogs. Turn in where you see the big colorful sign. GPS turn is incorrect. Pay per person. I was 150 in my big truck camper.
Report Check-In150 pesos/pp. Turn off highway 5 at colorful La Poma sign, not where Google directs you. Road is a little washboarded but not bad. Our class A did fine. Beautiful quiet beach.
Report Check-InStayed here again on our way back. sheltered behind the restaurant because of a very bad wind storm. Hoping the winds die down so that we can enjoy the beautiful beach again before we head back across the border.
Report Check-InJust as others described, quiet, very few other campers, showers were only hot a few minutes. 150/person. Easy access, beautiful beach, I would stay there again.
Report Check-Instayed another night. staff is really friendly. food at restaurant is good...especially the shrimp in garlic sauce tacos.
Report Check-InClean beach and campground. Only two other campers there together with us. Very quiet and nice staff. 300 Pesos/night for two peoples.
Report Check-InStayed here for 1 night and slept in my 4runner. Paid 150 pesos to camp. They had wifi available for purchase but it was very, very slow. It was better in the morning but still very slow. I did not eat from the restaurant but people that did eat there said it was good.
Report Check-InWe paid 300 pesos for two rigs. Great spot for a night. No cell service. Did not use the wifi. Or the showers.
Report Check-Invery nice spot! the staff was very friendly (they don't really know English so have translate or know more Spanish than we do). showers were warm and clean. bathrooms were clean. restaurant - fish tacos are good! that have Wi-Fi but it's VERY slow & costs $20p for 30 minutes or $40p for 1 hour. we paid $300p for 2 people...sign says $150p per person or $500p for an RV. the view is awesome & the sunset is even better.
Report Check-InStill as described, prices will depend on vehicle, people. Not fixed to 500$. I paid 150$ for 1 person in a Sprinter.
Report Check-InGood food and super sweet staff. Windy today so didn’t camp but looked beautiful
Report Check-InWe paid 300 pesos. There are not so many campsites so it can be that you camp right next to another camper. Restaurant has good food for okay prices. Showers are nice and bathroom clean. Water is very clear but also warm. Would be cool if they allow you to camp anywhere at the beach though.
Report Check-InGood spot for us, even spent an extra night because of the amenities. Paid 300p per night for two adults, two kids, two dogs in a camper van. Fair price in my opinion. Restaurant, really slow wifi, playground, good area to walk the dogs, hot showers, flush toilets, and shady palapas with trash cans. Waaay better than Rancho Grande @Gonzaga Bay. I’m not for overpaying either, but this place is worth it if you want basic amenities. The $500p price is for full size RV’s I believe.
Report Check-InThis place serves it purpose after a long day of driving. Paid $300 to dry camp next to a palapa, includes garbage, use of bathroom, and shower. Small playground on site with resident kids who are eager to play with visiting ninos. Beach is nice to walk on and empty. No cell service, but you can buy WIFI for $40 MX per hour.
I have uploaded a picture of the large itemized price chart they have at the entrance.
Report Check-Intotal rip off. they were empty and wanted 500 pesos for dry camping PLUS 40pesos/hour wifi 😂 i drove away. i offered them $11usd and she said she wanted $27usd (I was thinking i misheard the "500", but NOPE.
Report Check-Inpriced as noted by others. restaurant food was good and priced cheap-for-gringos. if coming from north do NOT follow Google instructions to turn at the la encantada sign. we did and buried our sprinter backend in sand right before the beach. needed a pull to get out. nice beach walk and lovely sunset. just the right level of amenities.
Report Check-InNice clean beach invites to long walk. Perfect flush toilets. We enjoyed our stay.
Report Check-InGreat place! Camp on the beach next to a palapa. Restaurant was closed for New Years Luis (the owner) was great. We chatted about like for a few minutes and he invited us to his community New Year’s Eve dinner! It was great. We will stay again when we head north.
Report Check-InGood organized beach campground. For 300 pesos p/n. All clean. Good restaurant.
Report Check-In150 pesos per person to camp here. Rancho Grande was full so we drove here instead. Nice spot. The bathrooms and showers are very clean.
Report Check-InGreat beach-front palapa/parking. restaurant good but not cheap. Bathrooms clean.
Report Check-Instopped for lunch. quiet restaurant. menu/prices in English/USD respectively. food was good but expensive
Report Check-InQuiet and pretty, the palapa in front of restaurant are $10 a night. We Thought it was free but ended up paying on our way out. If you go right and camp away from palapas it’s free.
Report Check-InSo we drove to bufero. They tried to charge us 200 pesos. Would recommend this spot. Definitely not my favorite of Baja but after a long four hour drive on the I-5 dirt stretch this is a fine place to drink a glass of wine and sleep.
Report Check-Inwe stopped and askwd about free camping and were told it is $10 and they have a bathroom. It was pretty but we decided to keep heading south for just a bathroom. Restaurant looked clean, but no one else around
Report Check-InFrom the highway turn in at the sign for La Poma. The restaurant owner said its free to camp on the beach in front of the restaurant. Nice beach quiet and free. No amenities, but we ate at the restaurant and used their bathroom. There is a shower that they would probably let you use for a fee. We didn’t ask.
