Description

MODERATOR NOTE: Place removed because camping is illegal here. Signs posted and enforced

Big clearing with a nice view of the gorge (minus the power lines). Camped here in our 2wd sprinter on 2/24/18 and had no problem getting here. Road is a bit steep in sections but no major problems. Have Verizon cell service at this location which is convenient.

Just as the description says, a steep climb when you turn off onto the gravel road, but was fine in dry conditions with my 2 wheel drive Passat. No great places for a tent once you pass the 3 pullouts once the road levels off unless you like sleeping in a gravel pit. Had multiple late night cars/trucks roll through well after midnight just to turn around and leave as well as a 6:30AM wake up with some gunshots. 3 out of 5 stars.

Kinda busy road with a number of people just coming to shoot. Large open space with some fire pits. Definitely some trash scattered around but it worked for a day or so! You can’t see the lakes from here you have to walk a bit further down the road but they are a pretty bright blue.

Beautiful but on the weekend we were woke up by local trailer trash fighting. A couple hours later people started shooting guns at targets. Maybe not the best spot on 4th of July weekend..

As described, the first part of the gravel road is really steep and sketchy but that is the worst of it. The area at the end by the lake reminded me of a hunger games arena. You can see the small lake if you park and get out of vehicle and the views of the gorge are mostly obstructed but you can see the high hills in the background.

It’s pretty but I opted not to sleep there. I wasn’t comfortable by myself on road that I have to drive 5 mph to exit in the event of emergency. That’s just my comfort level right now in my van.

There were a few nice pull outs along the road near greenery with fire rings that you could disperse camp at. I went down off gravel road to a pull out to sleep.

Road is very steep. Its a gravel road. 2 wheel drive is ok, just be careful. Very quiet road. As always, leave no trace. after arriving walk down the path towards the mountain (southeast). you’ll see a VERY beautiful lake. perfect verizon signal everywhere.
