Description

65 meter Waterfall along the Kaombe river. It’s a national heritage site so the official entry is $15, but you can easily get a better price by talking to thr guard, we payed 400zkw for 5 people. Totally worth it, beautiful hike, views and we had an amazing swim at the bottom. You can also camp at the restcamp, but I‘m not sure about the price for that.

Latest Check-Ins

Campsite is pleasant but nothing special. The falls in the other hand are really beautiful! Camping is located 300 meters from upper viewpoint but 1km to see it from lower viewpoint by the river which I found more beautiful. Go in the morning if you want to have the sun on the waterfall but it's stunning at any light. We paid 560 kwacha for 2 people camping and the car for 1 night including waterfalls. No MTN network in the area.

Very basic, but nice and quiet campsite about 300m from the falls. There are clean toilets and a banda, but no other facilities. The falls are quite spectacular - especially when viewed from the bottom. There was nobody when we arrived, but the caretaker came around the next morning. Rates were $15 pppn and $5 pd for the vehicle. The road from the T2 was semi-ok. No 4wd required.

We negotiated 450Kw for the entrance & camping (2 persons). If the guard is not there, no fee, take the path on the left, cross the bridge to the viewing platform and then the path up the hill to reach the bottom. No signs on the hike. To get another view, scrambe through the rocks to the cliff opposite the falls and overlooking Luangwa Valley - perfect sundowner spot!

We arrived at sunset and left the next day around 10am. We didn't see anyone so we camped here and saw the falls for free. Very basic campsite with no running water. We took some water from the stream, about 100m from the campsite. The source of the waterfall is in 10 min walking distance and the bottom in 20 minutes. Great place to visit!

Nice falls, nice quiet place to camp. The guy collecting fees wanted $15pp to see the falls plus $15pp for camping plus 25Kwatcha for the car. We talked about how it's too much and he agreed. We were firm on paying $15pp total and after a while he agreed. When walking to the falls cross the river then stay straight on the big path to hike to the bottom. Great hike, stunning view from bottom.
