Latest Check-Ins

Water and electricity available.
Wifi works well and 4G present.
Shower and WC are clean, well maintained and confortable.
The parking lot was almost flat.
That was the positives points.
Now negatives points.
Overpriced, 10 000clppp + 10 000clppmotorhome.
Dogs barking at night, dogs and cats poop everywhere and it stink cat's piss.
The swimming pool doesn't make you want to.

Report Check-In

Infrastructure a bit worn, specially the dish washing facility; bathrooms in best shape, even with soap and toilet paper. Phone added is of the owner's, to announce yourself at the electric gate; you may get a remote control for your stay.

Report Check-In

It costs 30,000 Pes for 2 people in a motorhome. The pitch resembles a garbage dump... Toilets and showers are very clean as described.

Report Check-In

The motorhome parking space is without shade and looks ugly. It stinks of cat piss everywhere. But sanitary facilities are top. Nevertheless, 30,000 pesos are very overpriced for 2 people in the motorhome.

Report Check-In

We paid $20,000 for two people in a campervan. Very friendly owner. Nice shady seating area and refreshing pool. The best toilets and hot showers we have experienced in Chile so far.

Report Check-In

We stayed three nights and paid CLP 30.000 per night. Expensive and we did not negociate. Very nice and clean toilet / (Hot) shower facilities. Sites with electricity. We wanted to visit mine and arrived on Sunday. However, 1 May everything closed. 2 May it proved that mine still closed till June due to Covid. Afterwards we went to Jumbo supermarket and our motorhome got robbed. Backseat window of Ford Ranger smashed. Quite some damage and stuff stoolen. Despite security on parking. It seems to happen a lot on parking. Advice to have one person stay in car. Window fixed same day. Police after report had to come back next day.

Report Check-In

Its really a special place: shady places, very clean banos y duchas, the Lady who takes care of the place is really nice and there is a crystal clear Pool! But there is also a lot of old stuff in the place. Paid 1000pp, nothing for our truck. We stayed 4 nights.

Report Check-In

They wanted 10.000 per person to stay on their parking lot, no chance to negotiate. We offered 15.000 per night for two when staying 2 nights, but he just went on how electricity and water would be so expensive. We said we didn't need either, just a place to be stay, but he wouldn't negotiate so we left. It's a weird place, more like a junk yard and probably 2 dogs and 5 cats. The dogs were super annoying too.

Report Check-In

Came here today at 11 am on a sunday. Gate was closed. We called the number on the sign 5 times and no answer. There is a bell at the gate. After 4-5 times somebody answered and told us we couldn’t enter today, only tomorrow. After i asked why.. she gave a unclear answer. I asked her polite if it really wasn’t possible because there is no other camping in this city and the city is dangerous. She answered me: goodbye. So think twice if you go here, normally i never write a bad comment. But this one is worth it.

Report Check-In

Really nice campground and a friendly owner. The only downside is that we were not allowed to fill the watertank in our camper. Wifi is only in front of the reception but there is good seating. It is in walking distance from a big supermarket.

Report Check-In

we paid 15000 for 2 people with van. nice place with many cats and 1,2 dogs but only one toilet was open.

Report Check-In

/!\ Prices have doubled!!! Now 10000 pp + 5000 for the kombi... We negotiated 16000 per 2 and the kombi. It was really because we had no choice but to sleep elsewhere and Calama is dangerous.
Lots of cats and dogs. Very Clean bathroom. Lots of wind. Safe place though.

Report Check-In

secure camping, same price, stoney pitches and lots of cats and dogs that were intent on pissing on my tent. hot showers and clean bathrooms and a cooking space.

Report Check-In

5.000 CLP por persona + 5.000 por vehículo.
Amplio espacio, seguro, baños limpios y muy cerca del centro, se puede ir caminando a todos lados.

Report Check-In

If you have to go to Calama (I wouldn't recommend it, although you will have to if you have a dog and you need to leave the country, see our blog for details), then this place is as good as it gets. It's dirty and smells. We were obliged to spend 3 nights here whilst we waited for the "tramites" to be handled for our dogs. Lots of crime in the area, a group of tourists we're robbed at gunpoint whilst we were staying here. Stay away if you can. WiFi is pretty poor and only works in reception.

Report Check-In

Great location close to big shops. Wifi so-so. Lots of dogs and cats so be careful if you have allergies. Friendly staff. Lots of interesting items on grounds. Bathrooms and showers a bit delapidated but there is hot water. Don't forget to take TP to bathroom. 15K per person per night.

Report Check-In

The cabanas area and the pool is lovely. Pool is not clear but it's because of dust. But thé area of motorhome and tent is not lovely... Very quiet even on friday evening. Dilapidated sanitary. Hot water. Possible to fill water tank and command pizza. Safe place I thing. 15000 CLP for 2 adults and motorhome (children free). Cash only.

Report Check-In

Good, safe place to stay in Calama. 5000pp and 5000per car. Ok bathrooms, tp, hot showers (just ask when you arrive). Many outside picnic tables and communal areas, very dusty though. Electricity available. No dog poop when we were there lol. Good WiFi near reception. Nice people. Good for big rigs.

Report Check-In

The only campground open in Calama; campground Extraccion was closed. Here kind people but just basic. Electricity, showers but cold, WiFi around reception which is also a kind of open air museum. The owner, Gabriel, is nice person and help me to organize the visit to the copper mine Chuquicamata: incredible experience!
Camping fees: cpl 5000 per person + 5000 for my VW California. Quit expensive compared with other one.

Dirty, shower not ok.
Beter look somewhere else.
Wifi ok.
14000. (2pax +travelcar)

Report Check-In

Estuvo muy bien. La señora Marta que nos recibió muy querida. Baños y duchas limpias. Luz en la zona de camping. Mesas. Pasamos una bella noche.

Report Check-In

5000CLP pp/night, 5000 for motorhome. 4-5 dogs use the greenery close to the last drive-in camping space at the left as their toilette. Can get smelly. Showers don't work reliable (no water, no electricity, no warm water).

Report Check-In

basic campground. basic but very clean. could not see any rubbish or dog poo. nice common areas. seemed safe to us. nice owner and cheap. we would stay there again
5000 pp

Report Check-In

Nice place and owners. Pool was great bonus for us and the kids! 5000per adult. Shower was not warm and communal fridge not working. Some dogpoop indeed. Close to the mall. Wi-Fi slow and not near the sites, but you can sit on their porch and use it.

Report Check-In

It ain't fancy but pickings are slim here in Calama. Wifi worked pretty good at reception. Showers were finicky but hot. 5000 pp and per vehicle.

Report Check-In

Fine relaxed and safe place to stay! I think the owners are a sweet old copple and helpfull. WiFi works perfect at the house, showers simple, but very hot (if you like), portable water to fill your tank.

Report Check-In

Agree with polarsteps, although dog poop much over- rated. Toilets etc all clean, but very tired. We were told by the host and the maid the water was potable.

Report Check-In

Stayed the night here. Perfectly fine for a night or two in Calama. Walking distance to town.
The older couple have cabanas and a campsite. They are very friendly! Just like their dogs (just make sure to look where you walk, dog poop!). All facilities are there and clean. Warm showers, bathroom, sink, bbq, internet around the house and llamas! Payed 10.000 for two in a van.

Report Check-In

Cosy place in the middle of the desert.
Not really friendly owner, they charge me a shitload of money for the laundry. Unusable pool and wifi just at the reception.

Report Check-In

Good camping to stay, nice host Gabriel, got warm shower, was easy to find. Silent place, stayed one night.

Report Check-In

Bathroom ancient although relatively clean. Windy and dusty until late afternoon. Wifi, even at house, almost unusable.
But could walk into downtown.

Report Check-In

Dusty place and reasonably quite. (owner has three dogs sometimes barking at night) The place does not feel like a camping. The price was 5000 pp/night and 5000 /night for the car. No low season reduction. The place is overpriced!

Report Check-In

Nice qiet (off season) campsite. Elektricity, wifi, warm showers a little bit dusty for tent but they also have cabanas.

Report Check-In

We spent one night at this lovely camping area. We came late in the night off of a bus from Santiago and had some trouble finding the camping area. Look for signs saying Camping and Cabanas. The area is incorrectly marked on the map but plug in the lat long positions and they are correct. Paid 5000 / person for a tent. Included water, electricity, shade area, showers, bathroom. Very nice location with a lovely owner. Felt very safe here

Report Check-In

5000 $ch/pers + 5000$ch/vehicule

Report Check-In

Good place to stop before driving to San Pedro. Friendly owner, a lot of space and warm showers.

Report Check-In

very friendly owners, swimming pool, 25000clp for 5.

This place is in wrong location - it is located at -22.45926, -68.91711

Report Check-In

This place is permanently closed.

Report Check-In

good place, near place to left the car and go around walking. no mony shadow

Report Check-In

5000 pp , it is a quiet place. Very used toilets and one shower.

Report Check-In

Campground with nice entrance, but rundown ablutions and rubish at the sites. Hot showers, wifi, electricity. Swimming pool was not in use. CLP 15000 (2 adults, camper)

Report Check-In

Not the best camping we had. It's not safe, our backpacks were stole during the day, and we are quite sure it was also visited at night.
Showers are cold on morning and nearly hot in afternoon. Not realy usufull when it's a one stop night.

Report Check-In

Good place to camp, showers were OK (hot but not very clean), WiFi worked well, super friendly owner, a bit expensive ($10'000 for two persons in a camper).

Report Check-In

As stated below, great people, nice camping 15,000c/p for two people and a car.

Report Check-In

not really a good place, 10000 CLP for that !! shower cold and dirty , wifi did'nt work everywhere, we stay only one night

ce lieu est à éviter absolument : très cher (5000 clp par pers) de plus il faut rajouter 5000 Clp pour mettre de l'eau dans le réservoir , tout est sale et cassé , on trouve en ville des lieux tranquilles et gratuits

Report Check-In

Quiet place and filled with interest in little artifacts. The camp basic basic but clean amenities. Laundry, shower(sometimes hot), bathroom and a nice shaded area to sit out in the day. No shade for car camping but still a nice spot. 5000cp per person

Report Check-In

10000 pesos for 2 people and 3 dogs. Hot water in shower was finicky. Wi fi was good and owners are very friendly.

Report Check-In

Tranquil place, with a friendly but slightly eccentric owner! 5000 pesos per person. WiFi good.

Report Check-In

Quiet place to spend the night. Fast wifi. Didn't experience anything close to a hot shower (mine was ice cold and my husband's was lukewarm at best) but there is an on-demand water heater and it was on while we were there. We did ask the owner about it, but he didn't have a good explanation and wasn't able to fix the problem. We paid 10,000 pesos for the three of us.

Report Check-In

When we arrived the entrance at these coordinates was locked. A painted sign says to go around the corner at 1507 Balboa. We paid 10.000 pesos for two people. The gentleman, Gabriel, who greeted us didn't mention paying anything additional so for our Jeep. Wifi works very well. Great place to stay in Calama.

Report Check-In

Nice and quiet spot with friendly but a bit creepy owner who collects all types of old things in his garden. We paid 5000 CLP per person (no extra fee for vehicle) and slept inside the van. Cabins are also available. Nice and clean pool on the campsite. Big supermarket only 15min walking. Fast internet but only in the common area. Good facilities for picnic and barbecue. Hot showers not working for us but still worth the price. Recommendable.

Report Check-In

This camping place is ok...the owner was not really friendly and the place is too dirty...and with 15'000.- (2 peoples,1camper) to expensive for nothing (just stay,no electricity,no water,no shower!)...additional prices for everything!!!if we had a choice for another spot we would like to leave...but nothing others to find around!!!

Report Check-In

Friendly owner, dusty place, spot in the shade for our tent, campervan of the family members that were travelling with us had to park in the sun, hot shower, electricity, wifi (good connection) 5.000 CHP/person and 5.000 CHP extra for water and electricity for the campervan.

Report Check-In

15,000 pesos for 1 vehicle and 2 ppl. Internet was decent, though intermittently loses server. Laundry service available(wash and hang dry), though expensive, calculated per item. Fine enough place to stay but not cheap for adequate services.

Report Check-In

Good stop over place. 5k pesos pp/pn, internet, showers, bathroom, a bit dusty in the parking lot.

Report Check-In

5000 per person plus 5000 for your vehicle per night. Aside from in being expensive, it's quite nice: friendly owners, wifi in the campground, electric hookups at the site, and a laundry machine.

Report Check-In

- 5.000 CLP per person (see below)
- slower wifi
- old and not exactly clean facilites
- electric outlets at the camp spots
- more a dusty parking lot than a campground
- use of a washing mashine for free (not sure if it is a norm or they forgot to charge us)
- friendly owner
- Generally more expensive than it should be, but other campgrounds in Calama looked worse (Camping extraccion 4.000 CLP per person, no wifi; Camping San Lorenzo closed).

EDIT: we came back after a couple of days and instead of an older guy we were greeted by a lady, who claimed the price is 5.000 CLP per person + 5.000 CLP for a vehicle. We told her that is ridiculous and that we won't pay that, she agreed apparantely only because of the snow/sand storm the grounds were a bit muddy. We later found out there was also no hot water and internet was not working, which she "forgot" to mention. Thankfuly the other owner turned up and opened a cabana for us with hot shower, allowed us to park next to it in an area with working wifi signal and we even hooked up to a power plug in the cabana. So it depends on who you're dealing with - try to get a hold of the owner.

Report Check-In

friendly owner. WiFi on the spot.
