Something not right?

Description

There's a BLM road at the same intersection (it's to the north of the 4 lane road), There's one spot about 100' from the 4 lane and then plenty more up the rough BLM road.

Verizon signal minimal but can make it work for basic stuff.

Stayed close to the road as the gravel road was too rough out. Not much traffic a night good spot would stay again. Verizon signal was poor barely worked but can make it work

BLM Land at Means Road
A dirt road on the west side of Highway 62 at Means Road. There is a cattle guard at the entrance and a large open turn out, big enough for multiple rigs, including large tow behinds, at as soon as you enter. The dirt and rock road that leads up the hill to more spots is very rough and washed out. We stayed at the turn out at the entrance. I'd recommend only 4x4s or OHV take the road further.
No services or trash cans, pack in & pack out to keep this great spot clean.
Cattle heards roam the land, they passed around us and our rig as they headed to their night spot! The cows kept a good distance from us and a close eye 😂! Super cool to see all the moms & babies and here them calling and mooing as they moved along.
We also got great 4GLTE (T Mobile) service here and from the New Mexico/Texas State line all the way into Carlsbad town.

Pretty spot, but we had to stay very close to the highway because the dirt road leading up to the more remote spots was so rough. Even so, it was very nice, with a couple fire pits and hardly any road noise at night. However, it got pretty loud in the morning. 4WD would be fine to get you to the other spots but we didn't want to risk it with our ProMaster. Very close to Carlsbad caverns. Overall I would definitely stay again if I was heading to the park.

Report Check-In

Arrived before sunset. Pretty spot overlooking the main road. Like others have mentioned the road is rough. Only made it up to the third spot because we were getting tossed around in the van. Props to the people that got their huge camper all the way to the top. 😂

Decent AT&T and Verizon service. Rock fire rings. Not too trashy.

The road here is so bad I wouldnt reccomend at all unless your cars made for complete offroading, I have an SUV but the roads incredibly rocky, deep ditches/divets. I wouldnt come back here again. I went up to the 2nd spot listed along this road and thought about going to the 3rd since someone was already at the 2nd spot and had to reverse back down the road, because its worse the further you go up. I pulled in at the very first spot closest to the road and called it a night.

Report Check-In

We couldn't get to the spot. The road was in too bad shape for our dodge grand caravan.

On n'a pas pu atteindre les spots parce que la route était en trop mauvais état pour notre voiture .

Lot of space to park, you don't hear to much the highway but soooo windy! We had a huge storm at night. Great spot before Carlsbad Cavern

Report Check-In

Rolled in around 1030pm and parked in the lower parking lot by the highway along with two other big rigs. Multiple overlanders parked up the road which definitely would be a nice spot, more secluded and looked also quite doable for our SUV and small trailer. It was a perfect stopover and felt safe with overlanders all around.

Report Check-In

I rolled in about 9p. No other vehicles were present. Verizon full bars. Plenty of space for RV, Van etc. Quiet

Report Check-In

Nothing great but plenty of spots to pull in. I was up on the hill but moved lower to get protection from the nonstop wind. Verizon and AT&T LTE acceptable. The road gets rougher but passable as you go further in but I only went about 1/2 mile, use your judgment. Not sure if fire ban but it's really dry, be careful.

Report Check-In

Great hidden spot right outside of Carlsbad Caverns, many spots and dispersed. Friday of Memorial Day weekend only had 4 other cars. No shade. Good view and flat at top. Some of road is rough, our van was fine. 2 bars of T-Mobile LTE.

Report Check-In

rough road right off the highway. decent views up top. not very flat, but great for a quick overnight outside of Carlsbad.

Report Check-In

Very rough road, normal car in dry conditions can maybe make it to the first or second spot. We didn't stay, left for Walmart in Carlsbad.
