Description

Camping among the Joshua trees a short drive off the highway. Can hear the highway noise from here, but it would be easy to follow the dirt road farther and find quiet.

Mid way point on a long trip we needed a place to sleep , run/play ball with the dog (off leash), & get back on the road quickly easily in the morning. We have a very capable off-road RV class C size (converted M1079 military truck) & pulling our little Scion car. Our RV could take all of the ruts easily but it took careful, slow, creative driving to get our little car with very little ground clearance through the ruts to the camp site. Campsite is an fairly close but okay distance from the highway & train tracks since it was quite windy we couldn’t hear either of them. We would not have attempted getting to the site if it were muddy or with rain in the forecast because our truck would leave incredibly deep scars in the earth if it rained & our little car couldn’t have handed it. It is in a dry lake bed & we would highly recommend avoiding it if it’s raining especially if you don’t have 4x4. If it is dry, with careful driving, we believe any camper, van or even passenger car could make it. It was exactly what we needed!

Agree with everybody else's consensus. road noise, Not bad once or asleep, not enough to wake you up, definitely muddy, avoid the mud, it is very sticky.

Great spot. Was windy in the evening but died off later in the night. Could not hear the highway from inside the van. Like previous reports said the road could be problematic if it was wet

Report Check-In

Was pretty windy, as mentioned by someone else. Parked closer to the dirt path/flat area. Good Verizon signal.

Report Check-In

Super windy! Worked for a night. Felt safe, one other camper nearby. No noise from the freeway further back.

Report Check-In

Easy spot to stop for the night. It rained recently and parts of the road were muddy, so we camped closer to the highway.

Report Check-In

Solace in the desert 2 minutes off the highway. Take only photographs, leave only tire tracks TREVELN

Report Check-In

Quite a nice spot if you need something overnight in this area. Easy to access from highway.
You can hear the highway a bit, but it is not bad. Good cell (Verizon). Nice sunrise and sunset.
Can be quite windy.

My second time staying here. It’s just off highway 58. Safe easy and legal. Nice stop. I went farther out dirt road on dry “lake” nice hard solid flat surface to camp.

Report Check-In

Easy off road to sleep. Firm dirt with ruts. Was quiet comfortable place to sleep just out Mojave. Went less than half a mile off highway 58 on hard packed dirt road.

There is a crossing/intersection from the hwy you can take to get off to here. it's pavement for about 50 feet then just a dirt road. it's dry but well used and rutted. I hit the first spot to the right as you cross over a dirt road intersection. Windy as hell most of the night and day. This area gets windy frequently. but a decent night's sleep. good Cell signal. 1 other person was out here overnight I could see, but plenty of areas and space to spread out. There is a massive wind farm to the west. biggest 1 I've seen.

Great spot, loved camping in the desert. Lotsa space, no need to deal with the ruts if you don’t want to. Lovely sunset and twinkling lights of wind turbines. Kinda idyllic!

Report Check-In

I agree with the post about the creative driving. a lot of dried out ruts that I didn't want to drag the rear end of my RV through. but very definitely doable, got a good distance off the highway between the highway and the railroad. nice and quiet lots of stars.

Report Check-In

Great spot just off the highway. Flat and open spots along the sandy, dirt road among Joshua trees. Saw a few other campers but plenty of space for privacy. Great views and sunrise.

Report Check-In

Beautiful desert with little noise and good Verizon reception. The joshua trees are fun too!

Report Check-In

Lots of space for all size rigs, you can drive in further to reduce highway noise. Where we are we barely notice the traffic noise from the highway. This is beautiful, safe place to stop for a night or more if you're so inclined. Great T-Mobile and Verizon.

Report Check-In

Awesome place to stay for a few nights! BE AWARE if there’s rain in the weather forecast because that will limit many types of vehicles from going back further than the first open space. It’s true that there is glass on the ground in some spots, but most of the area is fine for your fur babies.

In the desert. Very good view. Noise from the road but really OK. No body. Free. We parked just at the beginning but you can far away.

Report Check-In

As described. Great overnight spot. Loved waking up to a desert sunrise. Doggo loved the freedom to explore. Grateful for limited trash, I regularly clean up on my travels and I only picked up a small bag worth here. Please keep it clean. 😉

Buen lugar, fácil de encontrar siguiendo las coordenadas del GPS. La calle no está en muy buenas condiciones, no recomiendo ingresar si está lloviendo.

Quite windy at times but very quiet and peaceful as you can pull as far out as you like and have the land to yourself. We stayed on a nice breezy day but I’m sure it gets way too hot out here

Report Check-In

Lots of options, but plenty of broken glass and shell casings. Didn’t drive in far enough to escape road noise, but my partner’s yapping drowns it out!

Report Check-In

Easy access, pretty quiet. Rough road though with lots of pretty deep potholes. We made it fine with a tundra.

Report Check-In

Great overnight spot, peaceful, beautiful vistas toward the South. Easy access, even in our 26' class A. Took a nice mtn bike ride down the dirt roads at sunset.

nice place, stopped on my way to Vegas here. at my time, the entrance road are a little bit muddy, but you can pass on the left side. drive not so far from the highway, on the other end is the railway. had a nice quiet night here....

Report Check-In

A great stop for the night. As mentioned, minimal traffic noise. Loved views of the mountains and trees. The road in is dirt and there were some serious pot holes at the beginning near the little station. After those, it was all flat and hard. Plenty of space for any size and style of camping/RV.
